Jeez!! can remember all the Wolverhampton Funkateers piling on the bouncy dance floor at the Ritz Manchester to Robbies tunes. OMG happiness to the max!!
So many memories with this Classic gem,Had to pay a deposit of 50p,because it was an expensive US import 12",picked it up a week later! Best of all,I still have it, and it still sounds great!!,..Thanks for a great reminder!
my mum has this on a 7inch single and still blasts it out!im 26 and i think this is brilliant !mum says this is proper disco not the commercial disco they play on the radio x x x
THIS WAS THE 1ST RECORD I EVA BOUGHT. I SAVED UP MY LUNCH MONEY EVERY DAY for weeks so i could buy it. its my fave record of all time - Mercury records. I love it to pieces, Its in the attic in mint condition. The B side is awesome too. Brings back so many memories and yeah u feel like crying. Man this is REAL music...why cant those days come back????
@deefado your more than welcome ......and if someone could help me work out how to work Imovie on a mac I could post some more choons only I cant get my head around the stupid program :)
I was a mere kid when this came out and I went out and spent my pocket money cos I couldnt stop wanting to listen to this. Somehow it had a certain je nais ce quoi about it. total music. I want this on CD after 40 years!!!
They were the days-Global Village, Lyceum, Rio in Didcot, Fingles In Wheatley, Brimpton Grange in Milton Common,Tuesdays In High Wycombe (there was somewhere in Luton but I cant remember the name), Brunel Rooms in Swindon etc. I'm still a funkateer and have got all the 12" singles. Light of the World and Lonnie Liston Smith forever!
Just readin all these comments since I posted one of the first about a year ago. Glad we all hav such great memories eh? Robbie, Greg & all. Apart from the Royalty Southgate, no-one has mentioned the Bird's Nest at Muswell Hill. I remember goin there (wearin my fitted cream bowlin shirt with 2 pleats at the back ~ oh man !) & hustlin to this .... & Francine McGhee's Delirium & Bohannon's South African Man. Man alive. Everyone dressed up & just went to enjoy the music & DANCE.
i have vivid memories of dancing to this at the howard mallet soul club in cambridge!!! happy days!! along side all the northern soul fans, boy could they dance!!!!
Remember those plastic palms well, and climbing up the apples to get to Scamps in Sutton. This tune reminds me of Tiffany's in Purley on a Sunday night!
I remember the stairs going up to Scamps in sutton....just cant remember which night of the week we used to go over there.....and yes I must agree this was a real floorfiller at Tiffanys at Purley :)
An all time classic - Just lurrrrrrrrrve this tune to bits - it had a certain sumthing sumthing ! will be played by me when im in my 80's !! (that is if I've not gone deaf!) lol
I used to be a kid when this came out and played it to death on my brothers turntable - Go Rhanni !!! Keep running !!! (im behind you - just stopped off in the pub for a bite - promise to catch up!)
This is what you call music...grew up in Kent and spent my weekends in London...Loved Caister etc etc...Now live in Sydney Australia...great memories of happy days and fab music...
Whatchoo doin on your back? You should be dancin to stuff like that! My nephew goes to Caister - he is in his 30s and I am nearly 50. my memories of this song go back to Robbie Vincent on Saturday mornings (while doing my washing!) Capital radio best disco in town... Lacey Lady at Ilford - and the beat goes on (and on!)
Just listening to this to get in the mood for Caister this weekend. Can not believe I am going back after 30 years. Can it really be that long? I can remember this on Greg Edwards and then jumping in the bath for 'the bathroom call' crying my eyes out as I had been dumped by my much older boyfrien (the rat)! Never mind he found me recently on Facebook and finally apologised........still revenge is sweet he is now in his 50's.
Oh how I wish I had a time machine, this tune brings back so many happy memories of the carefree days of the early 80's and the whole UK disco scene which was awesome.
I remember Froggy at the old Leys Hall Swimming Pool in Ballards Road, Dagenham. I was about 14/15 years old, some thirty years ago. i cant remember the music that much we were more interested in the girls.
I have downloaded the original 12" version on to my computer so could send a copy on disc if you would like it. This is such a great tune and still love it everytime I hear it. Still takes me back 30 years to that fabulous Disco era. Know it sounds sad but they simply don't make them like this any more.
please can you take this conversation about sending mp3 somewhere else only I dont want anyone complainig that I condon people swapping music files on my page....thanks
This tune brings back memories. I also went to Purley & Wimbledon Tiffanys, Bali Hai in Streatham, Crackers, Royalty, Global Village. Caister!!! Yep! I was an out an out clubber then
nothing wrong with that my friend, the working week used to last Monday to Thursday then it was the weekend and flat broke on monday morning .....those were the days........
I also did the Purley All Dayers....if you remember the guy dancing on stage in his pants with a girl that was me !!!! the records I got was worth it lol
Another tune that I've not heard in years and years. This actually reminds me of my school days - think I was at school when this came out so it actually brings back good memories! Thanks for this!
Walked in there on many occasions and the whole place was jumpin - not one person was stood still - Etched in my mind forever and Chris Hill too awesome days eh?

Fave period for Dance Music for me is original House & OldSkool 86-95. My passion. Still never took drugs though... glad I wasnt the only one (I felt like I was!) xx
LOL ok Bumbes was on the corner coming away from from Wood green towards palmers green opposite Fagins another big pub at the time. I went to the Birds nest, but it had changed it name to Pebbles by then. Nope never felt the need to take anything illegal made in someones kitchen. I still have all the old 12 inch singles but to be honest they never get played. its nice to hear them hear them on youtube and know others also remember them, I am starting to feel antique and very unhip LOL.
Listn matey, I'm 56 now & a lot mor antique thn u. Teened on Tamla(60s),Dancd to Disco(70s). But I'm stil doin it to House/OldSkool86-95. Hav ovr 600 12" dnce sngles frm 76-92 ~ wldnt part wth thm fr the World. Smetimes go to Min.ofSound to dance n prance the mornin away! I've been after the non-instrumental (or should that be the 12" with lyrics), that appeared on the 12" compilation LP "Boogie Bus" circa 1980.
Any one with it care to let us listen to that version on their page?
Boogie Bus was my 1st LP but sadly my Dad tossed it when he kicked me out & it not on any re-print I can finded, inc euro shops.
