Catherine O'Hara and Fred Willard are two of the most consistently funny people working in film today. I'm almost glad they're not more "mainstream", since their work would be diluted. O'Hara is the closest thing to Madeline Kahn as there will ever be, and in many ways supersedes even that late genius.

What is it about Christopher Guest? I'm always indifferent about his films until I see them a second time, then I can't stop watching them! Particularly Ohara's last scene. It's heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. She's just magic. I love what she does with her voice and face ("Oh my darlings..you are so, so talented..."). I really admire her acting. And Willard? I can't even look at that man without laughing. He plays the "asshole's asshole" probably better than any living actor,

Thank you so much for posting this. Catherine O'Hara is such a comic genious. This was my least favorite Guest film, but Catherine O'Hara as usual delivered a hilarious performance! Even though the film poked fun at the oscars, O'Hara should have been nominated for a real Oscar for this film.
