  • great show, thanks for grabbing him for a couple questions

  • This is one of the best shows I've seen in the greater New York area this season. Virility, vitality, charisma. Each of John's works are like atom bombs. Explosive.

  • For those of you in the Greater Williamsburg Greenpoint area, a very insightful feature appears in this months WG Arts and News paper, written by Trent Morris, it includes a nice color reproduction of a painting by Loren Munk. Check it out folks, available at Spoon-Bill books.

  • Dear Kalm Report fans,

A wonderful interview of James Kalm with Hrag Vartanian appears at Art 21, check it out JK

The Kalm Report: Art Vlogging as Performance & Critique

    By Hrag Vartanian

Then theres James Kalm, his alterego. James makes The Kalm Report, a serialized online video program that has toured the studios of many New York artists (Chris Martin, Phong Bui, Cris Dam, William Powhida), run into people at ...

  • hi mr. kalm, i checked out the article and really enjoyed reading your 'feelings' about james kalm. i feel honoured that i am a heavy contributor to the 128 comments on mr. twombly...my big f****** mouth is proud! i'm glad you got noticed:) thanks!

  • Just read the interview. Thanks for your reports. They are important as documents. But, for me they are a window and part of my moveable feast. I'm a recluse in the salon. Best-

  • Great ! Loved this one. Feel simpatico with the artist and his work. But I agree with MrWow about the paint on canvas.

Does Pierogi have a gallery in Europe now? And what is meta-drawing? Best-

  • Hey LCM,

Yeah theres Pierogi Leipzig, an attempt to get the Leipzig school connection.

Meta-drawing: Large scale drawing on paper that includes multi media, notes, diaries, diagrams, calendars, documentation, lists, portraits, landscapes everything that you can put on paper with a pencil in a huge scale that envelopes the viewer. Ive been writing about it since 2000.

  • Thanks. I'm very interested in this and would love to read what you've written. Are there specific artists I should look at?

  • It is very rare to find work you want to look at for more than a few seconds but some of these works are interesting enough to hold your attention.;)

  • This sort of drawing is becoming a new academy. It's labor intensive character is ment to convince us of it's seriousness. But I'm not convinced.

  • In our world, where thousands and thousands of art school grads are pumped out every year, and most are tying to gain attention and start careers, academy-azation is almost instantaneous. But that still isnt a valid crit of the underlying work.

  • very intriguing obsessive drawing. great to hear O'Connor's comments on his process and history. thanks again

  • work looks good.....painting on canvas is hard
