@BaschVonRonsenburg - Yea that's right it's from DS vol2 and its the 2nd or 4th song.. the sight for sore eyes visionaries on that lp is sick as fuck also if you get a moment check it out
I REALLY NEED HELP! whats the beat his mixing into 'worst comes to worst' with that female voice in it sayin something like "almighty"..????? I NEED THAT BEAT
The World Famous Beat Junkies, Volume 1: DJ Babu completely reshaped my life in 1996 when I randomly bought it at a Japanese CD store. I had limited knowledge of what hip-hop actually was at that time... I was 14, going on 15... and was just starting to dabble in graffiti and breakdancing. Little did I know that turntablism was once of the greatest foundations in hip-hop back then.. props to DJ Babu for being such an influence on my life.
Notice how Drinking-With-Bob's in your list. Go figure. I don't think he's evil but I'm not surprised to see that a ton of his subscribers are far right, Palinist, teabagging Birther hicks like you.
@eencina4 Well DJ Premier does both hahaha he can get away with the excessive hype-man shit because he kicks ass as a producer and he's a pretty solid DJ too
ahahaha i love the peoples reaction in the background i wish more people had the same reaction to turntablism. Normally people will just stand there like WTF is he even doing?
@HipHopForDnBHeads Well guy, the guys in backround are also DJ's. So they know what they see bro..... People now a days just dont understand how hard is to beat juggle and match blah blah.
OUTTA control. Illdoc once again posting up greatness. You make me see hip hop in the light it should be seen in...sometimes I get so discouraged by it (misogynistic, violent, and perverse) and then I see talent like this and breathe a deep breath of happiness. GRACIAS!
the blind alley juggle is so insane, honestly i wish i was as good as Babu, and Jay I haven't commented in a while, but I wanted to let you know that We Still Love You Jay! and that I've been lurking for a minute! shit, I want to be introduced to Babu just so he can give me some pointers. no joke. Peace and Love Jay
We need to get rid of the HIP HOP HEAD BOB. I've seen too many videos where it looks ridiculous. I'm now self cautious not to do it so I don't look like a bobbing retarded chicken
Interesting that you would point that out because the insecure part of myself can totally relate. I say that because I don't believe it should matter what you look like when your vibing with the music and want to express that physically.
Man this opens up a whole can of worms for me that I'm having trouble trying to figure out a way to fit my thoughts into 500 characters so I'll just quit here.
lol yea that damn 500. i understand the whole concept of free expression which is cool but i think the head bob has been around way to long and dances you see from 80s and 90s look whak today yet the head bob is forever lasting yet it looks goofier to me. i'm even using a long lasting word to describe it lol.
I totally agree the head bob is one of the most inexpressive forms of dance. You know I feel the same way about the classic "hand drop" (not sure what to call it but you know where you throw the 'heil hitler' then drop it. I mean part of me says who fucking cares about what it looks like if your feeling the music and want to express that. The other part says man I feel like a fucking drone just doing the same thing everyone else is doing.Andherewegoagainmy500isup
I dropped dead at teh 1:57 mark. THAT my friends is a DJ not to be confused w/a mixtape tracklist maker that yells more than they acutally craft and mix. Good shit Ill.
I don't define myself as a racist because I believe culture defines behavior, not skin color.
There is a different in public behavior between middle class and 'urban' youths.
When I ride light-rail I now look at the cars and try to pick ones with people in my culture.
5-6 previous experiences groups of urban kids yelling, cussing and name calling really freaked me out. There is an undercurrent of violence that follows urban groups that I don't want to be around.
Racist? I couldn't really say, but a lack of empathy, definitely. Its a cliche but putting yourself in other peoples shows is way under rated.
I kind think you place too much on the importance of culture, from what i've read about in history it seems like people become great not by the quality of their culture but because of geography and whether their political construction fosters innovation. Culture is arbitrary, while geography and government aren't...
My point was that I feel comfortable around people 'like me'. There is a comfort in knowing the rules and being able to predict what people are going to do next.
When I am near a group of people who are loud and agressive and follow a different set of social rules, I get uncomfortable and want to leave that situation.
I have been challenged before because I moved away from a group of men who were yelling, cussing and raping on the train.
Well everything you said is understandable, but the fact of the matter is that living in the world as it is today we are inter-connected in a way that your going to come into frequent contact with people who are not like you. The challenge is to do away with the fear you are experencing and the way to do that is empathy, and understanding. Explore a bit of urban culture, find a way in, and i think you'll find a richness to it that will be suprising.
