  • its basically like beef jerky, only not beef its tiny fishes

  • hahahahah i do that in canada to... i buy a the chinese store they sales those package of anchois dry but sweet with sesame seed and sweet with chilly is very good with beer i love it

  • Tasty.. but also very stinky :D I share these snacks with my cats they love em' too.

  • The fish taste good I mean like REALLY good

  • I've seen many of your videos about the food, and I'm simply amazed at how similar Japanese cuisine is to the Portuguese one in many aspects! I mean, we also eat those tiny fishies, called 'Jaquinzinhos' (they're also fried but accompanied by rice or salad / both) O.o

    Odd...

  • @TheMacyp

    Interesting!

  • @TheMacyp that's because portuguese sailors were in Japan back in a day. Also a lot of Japanese words come from portuguese words (bread, cards( the ones used to play), glass and balcony per example :) )

  • @majofofitah123 Mais portugueses por aqui? Uau, muito "fish" lol

Por esta é que eu não esperava! E olha, essa não sabia! Obrigado ^.^

  • can't you use them to make dashi too?

  • I oddly want to try one..

  • @anticliche321 they just taste dried fish.... my cats love them

  • I applaud anyone whom can tolerate such fishy dish such as this because I certainly could not stomach crunchy fish heads ever. I wonder how do find yourself to avoid such food without eating western fast food can you get any western fast food meals in supermarkets at all if so how much more expensive are they to buy compared to buying them in Oz or in the UK

  • Shit, are there fish eyes in there?

  • I liked dried cuttlefish when I was a kid. It was chewy, like a fish jerky.

  • Chinese people use these to make fish soup. Put some in a pot and boil with water.

  • i like those dried tiny fish but my mum steams them and i eat it with rice, huzzah

  • yes we have them too in hk!

  • *lol* here in Germany i got exactly the same ones (ok, smaller package) as a snack 4 my pet cat ^o^''

Maybe I should have tried them XD

  • TASTY!!!!

  • Alright... Alright.. I'm going to call "Yankee" on this and say that this just sounds pretty foul. I'd file this foodstuff in the same file as Vegemite. It might be nutritious, but probably smells a lot like it looks.

  • eww

    lol

  • Fish snacks!! My dream come true <3

I wish they had that kind of stuff here too T.T

  • in my country they eat those little fishes while drinking beer too ^_^

  • iv had a packet of dried squid. i bought it in a asian supermarket. but it makes your breath smell really bad LMAO. but it tastes nice. im never afraid to try new stuff

  • My wife eats the hell out of those dried fish - and she's always trying to get me to do the same, but I can't get past the smell. I'll get my calcium somewhere else, thank you! Same with natto - it reeks!

  • @noisydaoist

    I agree :-)

  • mmmm

  • Kind of like anguilas in Spanish cuisine.

  • My family actually eat the crab ones. I've tried squid snacks... nearly puked since I wasn't used to seafood. But I'll just have to try another day.

  • lol I actually noticed those on my rice I got in a restaurant, and I was like: OMG have I been eating these tiny fish all the time? It was kind of a big surprise. xP

  • Did the person stop eating right away? Most people I know would stop right after they find out. Its a real shame for them and their weird paranoia.

  • It was me finding out. And actually I kinda liked it since they were salty so I ate some more. xD

  • UMAI!

  • uh-oh I've tried this, it's good^^

  • Ask a fish head anything you want to, they wont answer they cant talk. Fish heads fish heads rolly polly fish heads, fish heads fish heads eat them up YUM! You should sing the Fish Heads song and put it with this video on TheSillyOldDude channel =P

  • fish heads, fish heads, eat them up, YUM!

  • i sometimes buy them, but the ones we eat as a snack are different, they have been deep fried and have some sort of sweet and spicy glaze on them, theyre tasty!! XD but bad for your breath, haha

i havent tried buying the little fried crabs before though..

  • isnt there one like that made of dried small crabs?

  • There is a shrimp one.. never heard of a crab one..

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom yeah theres a crab one, the one i saw had liek sesamie seeds on them .. yum

  • Seems like pretty standard snack food for many Asians even in America. My girlfriend loves this stuff... and so does her dog!

  • this fish is common in the Philippines. It's called "Dilis" and yes they do eat this including the heads regardless fresh, dried or cooked!

  • oh gross. o_O;

  • would of liked to see you try some and tell us your opinion on it :P

  • yummy...I GUESS lol

  • Are they similar to bait fish?

  • very!

  • I've seen this in chinese food markets, also dried squid.

  • gross

  • I had that at a korean resturant, i enjoyed it till they told me what it was.

  • yum

  • In Romania is something like that but they are called "hamsii" and they are fried. But you eat them with the head.

  • Yeah they're not bad at all : )

  • this is one of my favourite food. it's crispy and delicious.

  • Filipinos eat these fish. They'll dip them in vinegar. Good stuff.

  • Mmmmmmm Yummy!

  • I use them as furikake !

  • ur not believe this but i am eating those right now :O

i got them from borders from our mall xD

  • U can buy crabs in a bag too as a snack, little tiny crabs.. Ever try them? Gorgeous! :-)

  • nah.. I try to avoid seafood.. unless I need to eat it to be polite..

  • We have those in Mexico and they are called Charales. They are pretty good in my opinion, especially with some very very hot sauce.

  • I gave you 5* for eating those. I have this thing that if my food has eyballs still in it I don't want it.

  • Haha we Filipinos eat this x)

  • They sell dried anchovies in Mexico everywhere, they're salty and tasty!

As for fish heads...I've sucked the eyeballs out of a whole bass' head after it was cooked in a soup, tasty stuff.

  • Wow, I never thought a bag full of tiny fish would look so tasty.

  • yummy

  • It doesn't look tasty... but I'd still love to try it! The idea of whole fish in a soup seems off though lol

    ~Kat

  • I tasted these while i was in japan, they actually taste surprisingly good =)

  • I'd be so scared to eat that, I'm normally really picky about what I eat. Guess that'll have to change though if I ever want to move to Japan, lol.

Keep up the super cool vids :)

  • I always eat this before in the Philippines.. but now i cant since im in the UK now D:

But ima try eat that again in Japan

  • Damn, I'm so hungry right now, and this video is not really helping .

  • I don't know if they are prepared the same but in my country (MX) they are very common too. o_O

It's good to know about it, thanks for uploading.

  • nice vid

  • I love dried fish/squid snack packs.

  • I love it !!

  • I'm going to vomit. I like fish but not their fish head.

  • i can buy them in my country as well as snacks, but i don't like 'em, too salty for me o.o

  • They are too eyebally for me :-D

  • Looks very nutritious. If you're going to eat fish, why limit it to just the body?

  • That is what my girl says!

  • i eat those fish snacks too. i buy them at the oriental store

  • i dont know how i would survive in japan.. i dont like sea food..

  • Neither do I !!

There are lots of alternatives.. but etiquette requires eating it sometimes :-(

  • We got the same thing in Mexico it's called "Charales" the only difference is that they are covered in chilly powder to give them some flavor :)

  • Tasty, but I'm not comfy with eating dead things that are staring at me. ^^;

  • Yes, I have a policy that I don't eat heads or eyeballs.. but my girl tells me around the eyeball is the tastiest bit...

  • I bet she's just saying that so you'll eat it... :P

  • Does it taste slightly sweet and salty? Similar to yummy dried squid? And chewy?

  • Similar to disgusting dried squid, yes :-D
