I once heard a mining legend that in earlier days, if a nun visited a coal mine, it was considered very un lucky and the men would leave the mine for the day. Have you ever heard this legend?
You guys have the skills that made this country great.
@Wanderer359 Never heard of that... But to be honest with ya,, If a nun visited a coalmine , More then likely she'd leave not being a nun anymore. LOL
Ive worked in the mines and they aint nuttin like it, my father was a mining mine and now has a job as an inspector, and i believe this is one of his or was one of his mines lol....But to all the men who have done it for so long, thank you and hopefully ill be able to do it just as long and return the favor when the time comes for you to retire a proud man.
What happens when the mine's mined out? Does the company move you to a different mine if there is one? Is it hard to get jobs back there in Kentucky? I wish you luck and stay safe. We need you
@Astrodan2600 Yea, Most mining companies already have coal boundries bought and picked out for a new mine site after they mine out... Yea, Its rather hard to find a good job in kentucky actually. The only thing that pays well around here is either the medical field or Coal industry. Other then that there isnt much other then minimum wage jobs.
I live in Mason County, WV. Miners are a part of me and most folks around here. I would not be the same person without coal and the miners who keep this town going. All WV people are about eachother. Being stubborn and obviously showing their point of view. I respect all men who mine, including my father and brother. Not a bad thing at all. This community runs on mining, as does KY. We all have accents, love being outdoors, but most of all we all love coal<3 Bless you all, Love from WV(:
my husband is an underground coal miner and i wait by the door every day when it's time for him to get home i know how hard he works and thank God when i see him pull up every day. i love you pucker.
@Banthis62 the song in the video is called "Miner's Prayer". sung by Dwight Yoakam with Ralph Stanley in this version... There's a different version that Dwight does by himself on one of his older Albums... Not sure which one though. thx for watching.
I am a brand new miner! Although I am Trona miner I still have all the respect in the world for all the coal, hard rock and lake bed miners!! This song pays a real tribute to all those who make a living "under that cold dark ground"!
As the wife of miner...I probably shouldn't be watching these while he is working! Brought tears to my eyes! Thanks baby and all those who go to hell every day so we have electricity (and everything else in my case) Love you guys!
my daddy was a miner and i think i will be too it runs n my blood and i love everything bout coal and yesh my daddy worked n that mines mow hes n the new deep mine on the up from mccoys loadout

wrench2317 2 years ago
Respect for a dangerous job, but we need to use alternate fuel sources as all the coal we burn turns back into CO2.
It won't last forever, and in our ever increasing need for more electricity, excavating and burning a finite substance doesn't make sense!
