This song was originally was written by Chris Gill, an aspiring musician who at the time of this song's writing had recently signed a record deal. However, the day after he was signed, he was impacted by a drunk driver and killed.

you should do more research. I am chris rice's Nephew and this song was taking from 3AE first album. And yes my Uncle wrote this song and recorded it around the same time he died..So fuck shinedown they should write there own music.
