Actually, that business about there being two different endings is untrue. King Kong was the good guy in both the American and Japanese versions and both versions had the same ending. Godzilla was still in his Mindless Engine of Destruction period at the time, whereas King Kong was at least as popular in Japan as he was in America; it was only natural that they'd have him win.

Good movie but they really did King Kong wierd. He was oversized in this movie and looked drunk. King Kong is only 25 feet tall or so. Godzilla, at least in the 1956 film, was estimated to be about 400 feet tall.

That is an urban myth. The creators of the movie admitted that both versions end the same way. The only difference in the japanese version is that the main characters speculate whether Godzilla is dead or not.

There was only one movie, with some American actor parts added for the American release, but the ending was the same.  They fought, fell into the water, kong swims away on the surface of the water, goji underwater presumably, the end.

It's finally been release on DVD with boht english and japanese, the endings are the same.

Dude, its easy, it was for gaining audience, besides, if it wasnt for the "electric powers", increased size and G's electricityu weakness, Kong would be toasted, and he was being toasted in the final battle, He was just lucky that the thunderstorm appeared, and he was lucky that he survived (in the original japanee version, you can hear Godzillas's roar at the end, so he wasnt fully defeated) and we all know that Godzilla became resistant to electricity, so a rematch would end in Kongs defeat.
