Good idea, probably the only way to safely practice techniques with any sort of reality. Im not sure what your intent is with this competition; display, genuine comp or fun? my only problem with it would be that the fighters have no real fear of injury/death, so the fights are inevitably going to be different to what they would be in reality. still, cant expect death matches in this day and age.

@Dimitri0809 I never suggested you would. I simply pointed out that it's one weakness was the inevitable lack of realism when realistic injury is not a factor. That is in comparison to the original intent of this type of combat. The game changes when you do not fear injury, you are willing to endanger yourself because the risk is lower. Seeing as martial sports comes from combat forms designed for actual combat, the parallel comes to mind.

Fuck technique, as long as you win, it's all good. In competitions, and tournaments and demos, use proper tech, but this isn't anything serious, just playing around and shit.

that's not true. proper technique prevents you from developing bad habits that give you oppenent tips to your next move. that's why it's what they teach you, they don't just hand you weapons and say 'bash each other'.
