  • Guys, need a help...

Is it me, or the beginning track (Sarcophagi) is the last one too?

...Are they trying to microwave my last brain-cells? So, technically, if you loop the cd...

  • @CimpoIlRozzo Your ears go BOOOM, right?

  • I swear the start of this song is intentionally quiet to fool people into turning up their stereos for the rest of the amazing record.

    Well played, boys. Well played......

  • That was worth my while.

  • BUT... baddest riff ever??... 8:45 !!!!!!!!!!!

  • uplifting???...not quite..

    haunting..but FUCKIN DOPE!!!

  • Where did you find that first picture @tquizzle23

  • Eargasm. Pure Eargasm.

  • i feel so surreal whenever i listen to them... and i do not take drugs. is this what being high feels like?

  • john theodore..john fucking theodore!!!!! too bad their road split

  • 3:21 to 3:36....

    I exploded

  • @grawrgrawr13 ....just wait...! haha That riff at 3:36 IS SooooOOO BAD-FN-ASS!...

  • The drumming on this track is just perfect

  • @MrWatwut I know right ? I can't believe the drummer left, Makes me wanna make a sandwhich think of my life as a Tuna.

  • the jam in the middle of this track is incredible

  • i haven't listened to this song for years but it is still incredible.

  • Theres a 29/16 time signature in there! Incredible complexity

  • the whole song is the shit, the last minute is nirvana

  • the jam after 4:18. wow wa wee waa *borat voice*

  • @bettis110 It's all good. I'm just a fanboy.

  • I agree we won't be talking about TMV in 400 years, but who gives a shit. Let's just enjoy their music and keep talking about them for as long as we live and pass it on to future generations. Also @Bettis110 prolific is an adjective which means "producing many works". You know what group was also a prolific? The Beatles. By your logic the Beatles are as good if not better than Mozart or Beethoven for the sheer magnitude of works produced. Please don't use words you don't understand. TMV!TMV!TMV!

  • @GustavoCalleros1219 OH damn, well you got me there. Whoops, I used a word I've only heard used in context, and didn't actually scower the internet or a dictionary for the definition beforehand. That TOTALLY invalidates my point. Touche Gustavo. Touche.

  • @GustavoCalleros1219 You used the word "prolific" incorrectly in the fourth line of your response.

  • @GustavoCalleros1219 Well... I will be talking about them in 400 years.. In Heaven or Hell I will be telling other souls to check out their music. = )

  • Am I the only one who thinks the Mars Volta is better than the Arcade Fire?

  • @tacosaucemafia Arcade who?

  • Comment removed

  • its written in witch language

  • You idiots dissing Muse, both bands are fantastic.

  • At 0:46, I just LOSE it everytime

  • @IronMaidnPinkFloyd greatest moment in music ever

  • Holy shit.

  • @wmotamedi I agree

  • this song along with the rest of francis the mute is a modern masterpiece. amazing music right here. this is the real shit right here.

  • Beautacious song. I remember seeing the Volta on tour with System in 2004 at the ACC. At the time I had no idea who TMV was and was mainly concerned with seeing my then-favourite band, SOAD. They leapt up on stage in a ragtag group of 9 and jammed their hour away. They would then become my favourite existing band. My band's work is inspired by these guys heavily as well as Frank Zappa and Tera Melos. Check us: "matter of taste jam :)--"

  • One of the greatest modern compositions ever recorded.

  • >mfw The Mars Volta are the King Crimson of our generation

    >mfw this means that they are pretty much the greatest

    >mfw I have no face

  • Holy fucking shit 3:26

  • Why does everyone pit the Mars Volta against Muse or Led Zeppelin? Every video watch i see a comment talking about this and it's kind of annoying. I don't really like Muse much; they're ok; respect is due. I love Led Zeppelin. I also love the Mars Volta. They're in my top 3 bands. But honestly? Comparing everyone? They're different, go on some kind of Mars Volta VS Led Zep VS Muse video and do that. Let's just enjoy this amazing music we have and not bring up random bands to compare TMV to! XD

  • FEED ME THE WOMB!

  • John Alderete can play fucking bass. Seeing him in person really showed me how good he is.

  • The Owls ---

  • i have the weirdest boner right now

  • Dat bassline.

  • 3:00 the best picture EVER.

  • It's not melting, it's a video effect. It's panning down.

  • i do believe listening to the mars volta staring at the ceiling and thinking nothing but the meaning of these lyrics and how fucking AMAZING this band is could quite be better than sex itself. Anybody else feel the same way

  • @MrBlackashell Either you've never had sex, or you've never had sex while listening to The Mars Volta.

  • @MrBlackashell ....close... haha!

  • DEAR GOD

  • their best song, i agree

  • Eargasm at 7:36

  • THEIR BEST SONG HELLOOOO

  • 17 idiots

  • Other Perfect song from TMV

  • For 6 years, this song has been my favourite song I have ever heard. Start to finish, I haven't heard a song just as perfect in all aspects of music: Technicality, composition technique, mixing, meaning in lyrics and so much more... and I still have no idea what it's really about and that is why I find it so beautiful. It's a continually changing and moving... everything.

  • The Mars Volta are fucking amazing. I usally listen to Post-Hardcore music like La Dispute and Touche Amore and Defeater but this band is God. The Mars Volta is euphoric<2

  • @GodBlessYouthfulness Haha, nice, I usually listen to Djent and Deathcore, but can't stop listenning to The Mars Volta for couple of days now... Why? How!?

  • @RachetX12 Ikr?! theyre addictive!

  • @RachetX12 welcome to our side!!!

  • @RachetX12 same thing happened to me

  • Cause Muse has gotten more and more generic, and it's lame

  • Comment removed

  • fanboys be damned, this album would have been better without all the filler ambience between tracks. still a great one though.

  • Comment removed

  • fuck

    bush

  • cheesy satanist

  • (|(())|)

  • 140000 views... 130000 from me, seriously one of my favorite songs on one of the best albums conceived. Translate the spanish lyrics, because they're awesome.

  • What's with all the Muse hate? Muse and TMV are like 2 of my favourite bands

  • Okay no need to jump on Muse, they are fucking sick, Matt has a great voice and holy shit can he play the piano...Is Mars Volta better because of their use of erratic time sigs? I enjoy both bands equally.

  • @ProtstTheFuckingHero The Mars Volta vs. Muse

Instrumentation: The Mars Volta, not even a contest.

Lyrics: Muse (at least they make sense, then again, Cedric's words make sense too after a while)

As far as everything else, they are two completely different bands that play for arguably different audiences. though they both dabble in spacey Progressive/Psychedelia, Volta is more experimental/art house and Muse is bit more "poppy/catchy".

  • i hate how i have to turn it down once it kicks in. the volume is so low in the beginning. but amazing song i love the time signatures.

  • what a track

  • is that the original mars volta? 4:59

  • @MiguelCamposTV1... Yes. From left to right: Jeremy Ward, Cedric, Eva Gardner, Omar, Jon Theodore, Isaiah.

  • I really think that Omar and Cedric are Mozart and Beethoven of our generation.

  • @leomack665 i love that comment

  • @leomack665 omar's the genious, cedric is just the lucky guy hahaha

    i love both though

  • @operah143 naah Cedric is a goddamn Salvador Dali of the lyrics. They are both geniuses. Viva the mars volta.

  • @leomack665: better yet! Rachmaninoff!

  • @leomack665 You hit the nail exactly on the head.

  • @leomack665 LOL what?! Dude, I like the Mars Volta and all, but comparing them to two of the most prolific songwriters in all of HUMAN HISTORY is fucking stretching it. Alot of TMV songs make no sense, and Omar and Cedric are pretentious jackasses. At least Beethoven was humble.

  • @Bettis110 maybe what you tried to say is that YOU can't understand a lot of TMV songs. Anyway that's YOUR point of view I've already stated mine.

  • @leomack665 Yep, your exactly right. However, I think the majority of people will agree with me regarding the "prolific-ness" of their songwriting. I mean cmon man, Beethoven and Mozart? There is a reason their music has survived CENTURIES. I highly doubt we will be talking about TMV in 400 years.

  • @Bettis110 okay chill out dude nobody knows. I like to think that way because at least for me there IS a before and after since I've been listening TMV's songs. In every sense in lyrics, melodies, tempo etc...

  • @leomack665 .....Huh? I don't understand what you mean...?

  • @Bettis110 Their songs make perfect sense if you think about it and how do you know Omar and Cedric are pretentious jackasses? From what I've seen in interviews they seem humble and nice. But i do agree with you that Mozart and Beethoven are obviously gonna be remembered forever and by everyone. TMV, no matter how great they are to people like me, won't be.

  • @leomack665 I love Omar and Cedric, but I think they'd have to respectfully disagree haha

  • The last great album by Mars Volta. Everything after this just went downhill. De-loused and Frances the Mute are just absolutely INCREDIBLE albums. The albums after this do not live up. They just don't.

  • @CristiaanC The new ones are different. All preference.

  • @CristiaanC i liked amputechture better maaan

  • esta canción tiene algo que la hace muy especial. no se puede dejar de bailarla

  • man ive listened to most of mars volta & there catalogue of songs is truly epic, & there creativity is of such originality that im convinced they are actually from a paralell dimension

  • @mrphillanthropist El grupo nuevo de ORL would be coming from a paralell dimention of that one :)

  • There will never be enough Mars Volta in this world..

  • This song gets me pumped before every time I go into a fight. Fuckin love these guys.

  • AWESOME!!!! Love it! Thx 4 postin'~!

  • cedric bixler ---- eres mi fantasia cabrooon!! marslove !!

  • "D. Con Safo".... i consider it a breakdown Volta style

  • Anyone know what the shirt/vest combo Omar is wearing at around 6:15 called? I need one!!!

  • @RLomoterenge red and black clothes

  • @RLomoterenge A waist coat?

  • @iainzo7 Thanks! I had no idea that was what thoes things were called. :P

  • 3:20. "Fuck Church"

  • @GuitarKid581 fuck bush

  • This is the very first TMV song I heard.

One confused teenager became a little more confused that night I tell you.

    Beautiful!

  • Well now I have to change underwear...

  • Someone took this CD from me in college. Thumbs down. Thumbs waaaay down. :(

  • @JLil I'll give you mine music like this was meant to be shared <3 ;D

  • @Nigel1792 Made my night. :)

  • @JLil Always here to help a fellow TMV fan or any music fan. That's my job.

  • I have loved this band since I first heard them. It just happened to be that this was the first song of theirs I had ever heard. What an introduction to a band.

  • je, and venetian snares plays primarly in 7/8

  • je, and venetian snares plays primarly in 7/8

  • I cannot stop listening to this

  • This is truly the greatest song that has ever been made and probably ever will!!!

  • 5:45 ... Silversun Pickups bassist?

  • 29/16 time sig. on break down and build up

  • FUck man i have had so much ear sex with this album!

  • 7:00 my balls tingle

  • This band is way ahead from our generation, as Piero Scaruffi stated on his Frances the Mute review "They are the only band of this decade that is truly unique and musically transgressive"

  • Omar is our generation's Beethoven.

  • This song is all about John Theodore. This guy was a huge part of TMV in my opinion.

  • take Tom Pridgen out of the background you blasphemous cunt!

  • My favorite song of theirs so far. Beautiful transitions.

  • Beautiful song! But there is something wrong with this video. No matter what computer I use, or how fast it is, it always stops and start to load, even if it has streamed for a while.

  • So high this i s fu ck i ng taki i ii ng me away f romm the unn iverse.

  • i listened to this while looking at a picture of the sistine chapel. perfect fit.

  • i really didn't want to like mars volta. at the drive in are too close to my heart...but my god..

  • Such a mars volta song, sweet, buttery, dopeness for my ears.

  • fuck muse. the volta birthed muse accidentally while coughing after a bong hit.

  • @lolstevemon best volta comment EVER!

  • @lolstevemon im on the fence....i like them both....i hear ya though

    volta is the shit

  • @lolstevemon 17 people like muse

  • @lolstevemon typical pothead thinking all music is pot related bullshit. muse is a good band too

  • @Yojimbo742 Muse is a great band. I think this guy just burned out a few too many brain cells.

  • @Apocol0id yeah people like muse so jaded people feel the need to give them shit, oh well.

  • @lolstevemon LoL @ steve: you pathetic american dumbass why you gotta compare apples to oranges?

  • @lolstevemon

Nothing is more idiotic than someone who goes around ragging all bands that aren't the one they like the most

  • @lolstevemon Yeah, well... that's just, like... your opinion, man.

    ...With which I agree....

  • @fuffer89 that is bullshit. The volta have more talent then muse

  • um the artwork at the beginning was kinda melting?? did anyone else catch that or am i that high?

  • @doomspleen I saw it, but I'm high too so who knows

  • @doomspleen I am high as well and I too would like to state my lack of useful input due to this fact.

  • @doomspleen I think i caught it... but I'm high too

  • @doomspleen Nah man I definitely see it too! Unless I'm also high...?

  • @doomspleen That's easy to explain dude... there's little droplets of Acid implanted on Mars Volta sound waves

  • @doomspleen

Not sure if melting, or experiencing an illusion

  • weridest time singature i have ever heard...

  • @Jabarichonicles Check out Meshuggah for werd time signatures, or Venetian Snares is a good one. Meshuggah is metal and venetian snares is badass. Check em out.

  • @jimmymac240 Meshuggah actually usually just plays in 4/4

  • @TheMeatballMen Meshuggah is amazing.

  • @EpicNoMore I agree completely.

  • @EpicNoMore it's amazing, volta and meshuggah have the craziest time signatures ever, but honestly, i preffer volta

  • @juangodfrid with you there mate just something fun to chill to meshuggah is just amazing while in the mood

  • this is probably my favorite Mars Volta song

  • I Hate Mars Volta Because I Have No Ears.

  • The Mars Volta embodies that feeling you get right after you push the dope into your veins and it's just flowing through you. TMV were on opiates still when recording deloused, so clearly that says something about heroin making good musicians. Think about inertiatic esp, dolls wreck the mincemeat of pupils = opiates = tiny pupils

Jeremy died of a overdose and they dedicated frances the mute to him, thus the heroin theme continues on, just much much stronger "he know's that the taste is such.."

  • Anyone that says TMV is "nonsensical directionless crap with bursts of noise in the middle", or "chaotic shit" should just retire back to their very safe, radio-friendly, chart pop/rock Muse bubble and leave any remotely ambitious music well alone.

  • My drumline is doing this for our indoor drumline show, can't wait to perform it for the crowd

  • it's Artist - Song Title.

  • gotta love the fresh vibe

  • @BurakovAS you have a very closed mind, and lack imagination, this is one of the most talented bands going today , and there isn't many of them.

  • @TheHurricosLevel of course i got lack of imagination, if the music is nonsensical directionless crap with bursts of noise in the middle - it's just me, it's not the music. one of the most talented bands going on today are e.g. Muse - and they actually sound like music, unlike this chaotic shit.

  • @BurakovAS

Check out The Mars Volta album Octahedron, it's their most accesible in my opinion, not saying it'll change your mind about them, but it's easier on the ears. And the Volta is not for everyone, some people consider their stuff chaotic and indecipherable, not me though, I can't get enough of them! The melodies, the textures, the atmosphere created, it's all there with these guys.

  • @BurakovAS Anyway, what do you know about music?

  • @sebaba001 well, to be honest, pretty much - maybe even more than you do. you never know.

  • @BurakovAS i find that hard to believe.. maybe you know alot of theory.. but try opening your mind and ears and i assure you it will help you alot.. i used to think the same than you.. strange burst of sound and noises.. and now they are my favorite band

  • @BurakovAS muse is my favorite band hands down. the Mars volta has turned out to be one of my favorite bands.but muse helped me realize how deviating from 7 notes in an actual key can be extremely stimulating. Hyper music, stockholme syndrome and hysteria are good examples of this. muse does seem to have more form in their songs but these guys are trying really hard to make music that no one would have been able to think of before. call it experimental. not everyone's supposed to likeit.
