@paulod27 no, Solid Sean Connery would have been Fleming's favorite.
Peirce Brosnan was picked to do "Living Daylights" which came out at around the same year, but he was busy filming Remington Steele, which is most likely what inspired this commercial
Remington Steels contract didnt prohibit him from playing bond he could have it just said that he was unable to wear a suit or tuxideo in any other TV Show or Movie. It sucks because if he was able to do Living Daylights and Licence to Kill I woulda been happy I liked Dalton but add 2 more films for Brosnan woulda been kick ass.
would have been Bond in the 80's if stupid NBC and the show Remington Steele would have let him out of his contract. They told Bronson he could do Bond because they cancelled Remington Steele but at the last minute they changed their minds, decided not to cancel it. So he was stuck. NBC did that chit just to screw him because after Remington was uncancelled they only did a couple of episodes and then cancelled it for good. By the time they did this another actor had already got cast as bond.
Hello, these items seriously works well, I came across a much more revamped edition from it at roulettecash=org without cost, and I created some serious profit.
EVERY TIME there's a drink commercial some guy takes a straight look in the camera with the soda next to his head and he smiles and or winks, and it's just so freakin' annoying. But when James Bond is in the commercial doing it, well then...
@lffindlay Pierce Brosnan is very straight. He has a wife and several children.
In fact he's the kind of model of heterosexuality every man should aspire to. He adopted his first wife's children when their father died. When his first wife got cancer, he took care of her, risking his career perhaps, until she died, and when she died he didn't marry again for years. As far as I know he never cheated on his wives, he's basically a very good man.
@MrLunitunz It is so easy to wind people up on Youtube. I was kidding, it was a joke but if you guys have nothing better to do than defend Brosnan's heterosexuality then be my guest...
@lffindlay My dear, it is universally acknowledged that sarcasm, jokes, general humour, are very hard to convey in a written medium, they have to read as such. While you may have intended that attack on Brosnan's sexuality as a joke, clearly two people did not read it as such, hence his defence.
@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD Timothy Dalton played the more violent bond the one we all knew from the books and wasnt a bad actor either so i dont see why you would say something like that
@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD I do know what im talking about i have been watching James Bond since i was very little and read a fair few of the books. you sir are just some youtube idiot trying to make a pathetic point about an actor you obviously know nothing about
I like the commercial where a James Bond-type character is having a wine-tasting challenge with some old guy, and they say things like "the grape was picked by a man with one leg," and "the water is from a spring in Tibet," and then the Bond character introduces a soda and the old guy says, "Ah, distinctive real cola taste - Diet Coke." And the Bond character reveals that it is Caffeine Free Diet Coke, and the old guys falls into a pit, and the Bond character says, "To your health!"
It's interesting to note that he was offered the role of Bond back when The Living Daylights was underway, but he was held up with Remington Steele and so the role went to Timothy Dalton.
It's interesting to note though: even though he didn't play Bond until later, his likeness was used for the cartoon character James Bond Jr.
@WhiteJarrah Basically the fandom screwed him out of Living Daylights.
The fans were so excited that he was going to be Bond that they called for NBC to renew the show, which they did. The Bond producers didn't want Bond to be associated with a popular television series so they passed on Brosnan. And Brosnan personally was so annoyed that the last season of Remington Steele was perhaps the worst.
LoL funny how you know nothing about me but you somehow know that I "never watched Sean Connery's role". First, I've watched Sean Connery's performances as Bond & I still believe Brosnan will always be the only real Bond. Second, I didn't see that quote but if Pierce Brosnan actually said that then I wouldn't be surprised. He's just a great person & he was being courteous to his predecessor by showing him respect & acknowledging his hard work as Bond.
@andyrooney12 - You're forgetting David Niven, who played Bond in 1967. And Bond was first played by Barry Nelson, and then Bob Holness in 1957, we then saw Connery as Bond in the first big screen adaption in Dr.No, but he wasn't the first to play Bond.
Yes, but I was talking about the big screen. David Niven was apparently Flemming's choice. Fair enough, I still think Pierce Brosnan when I'm reading Bond novels. If Brosnan was alive back then, I think Flemming himself would have changed his mind in regards to who best personifies James Bond.
@andyrooney12 - Flemming's ideal choice was George Baker, and I have to say I think he would have been the best choice at the time as he has more menace than Connery and was just as imposing in stature. He's the type to command attention and the type who's good at making people feel small.
I hated Brosnan while he was playing Bond, but I like him as Bond now. I tend to appreciate the actors who play Bond once they've stopped playing the role. Just one of my quirks.
@andyrooney12 Sorry, Fleming would never have chosen Brosnan as bond, because Brosnan was a softer and less physically imposing Bond than one in the novels. Daniel Craig is probably the one Fleming would be most proud of I think. I still think that Pierce did an excellent job in the role though.
When Mr. Brosnan landed the role in the late 80's Remington Steel's ratings had gone into the toilet. Then it was anounced thet he got the role and Remington Steel's ratings shot up back into the top five. MTM did not see the corilation, all they saw was the money. you know the what they did. Remington Steel's ratings flushed down the toilet. If MTM had alowed him to do bond then come back. the show would have lasted for at least two more years.
Some pack of sheister lawyers/producers owe the public a lot of money at least for not letting Brosnan out of that Remington Steele contract to take up the Bond role in the late 80's when he first had the offered opportunity.
Western Civilization and world popular culture are poorer for the delay.
And in about five years Brosnan should play Bond 'in retirement'....the gold watch farewell dinner, congratulatory speeches and .....another adventure.
Remember another Diet Coke commercial, also with a Bond kind of theme, with a Roger Moore lookalike? "The tea is Darjeeling, but water comes from a well in Tibet."
@paulod27 no, Solid Sean Connery would have been Fleming's favorite.
