  • I have to agree with most, the 50/50 is terribly boring to watch and seems like a cop out to actual rolling. I know its "evolving" but still incredibly gay along with most leg and toe submissions.

  • rafael mendes ele e otimo passa bem e tem uma guada sinistra e no 50 50 ele tabem e otimo.

  • Helio didnt create Jiujitsu he modified to the art to make better for an small person, and probably i wont end in the hospital because the moment the pull the 50/50 i will punch the guy rigth at his face genius!

  • The 50/50 is just plain gay! how far away from reallity is this going to end.Helio Gracie didnt create Jiujitsu to do this, it is a shame!!!!

  • @radarli1

go tell that to ryan hall, cobrinha, the mendes bro's and tell me when you get out of the hospital.

the 50/50 works! to a lot of submissions, sweeps and transitions with the GI or NO GI, you only have to do it right.

and helio gracie didn't create jiujitsu either. i respect and love grandmaster helio, but even he will tell you he didn't create it.

  • just a not to all 50/50 players i wouldn't play 50/50 against a fat guy who weighs more than 200 pounds.

one asshole popped my knee by putting all his weight from the top position and grabbing my head sequentially.

but still managed to tap out that fat fuck with a triangle.

  • @Donpaeng Even with a popped knee? dude you're a "hero".

  • @kanguesso

It doesn't hurt right away dude, the next day though is a different story. it blew up and i couldn't walk for at least 2 days. and until now i am still in rehab. the knee is not an injury you wanna take lightly.

i tapped out that fat fuck but in the end he got the last laugh.

if you've seen, xande ribeiro vs joao assis in GQ. that was epic.

joao managed to pop xande's knee while xande tried to escape a knee bar. xande even still managed to almost finish joao but lost to points.

  • @Donpaeng Yes i have seen that fight and it was an epic match up. The only injury i have sustained was a dislocated ankle from a "Toe Hold ankle lock" i found myself in and i felt that shit right away. It popped twice but it didn't actually break. That is why i was surprised you were still able to finish your opponent with a popped knee.

  • @kanguesso

a "toe hold ankle lock"? what do you mean? an ankle lock, switched to a toe hold.

damn that shit must have been painful.

it must have been the adrenaline in my system or i must have a severe tolerance for a threshold of pain.

I've dislocated my shoulder, hyper extended my arm, get toe drags and cauliflower ears. but its just normal dude.

  • @Donpaeng I was going to tell you to google it, but i am just going to tell you to "YouTube" it. It is nasty and very painful. I heard a pop in my ankle and my opponent had only applied it for 5 seconds or so.

  • Tough match Robinho! RMNU! Osu!

  • You gotta be incredibly good to beat Robson Moura!

  • Its called CONTROL, when two people are actually good, matches are won by control.

  • viva jiujitsu anyway

  • When exactly did Mendes stall out with the 50/50 guard? Before they roll out of bounds he is working his leg locks and the second time he uses it to eventually sweep and pass. Working for submissions and setting up sweeps to get on top doesn't sound like stalling to me.

  • I wish I was good enough to successfully score on and stall out Robson Moura on my way to winning a title. Until I can do that I wont judge Mendes. Plus the guys the man he's been a terror for a while and does finish a lot of fights.

  • don't hate, congradulate

  • There are plenty of defenses against 50/50 its just another strategy to add to the Jiu Jitsu game, I'm sick of everyone saying its bullshit clearly its winning matches. Learn to roll better and you won't get caught or stalled against!

  • learn to roll better my ass Cobrinha is Proof that it is stalling Mendes used it in world cup and Mundials because he knew that stalling the match would get him a win

  • Several escapes for 50/50, alot were brought to light by Alliance. Don't hate bro, learn to evolve.

  • Of all the sport jiu jitsu techniques, I probably like 50/50 the least. I think it makes matches boring, and most of all I think it takes away from the martial art. If it were nhb, I don't think it would end well.

  • I don't like this whole 50/50 guard thing. It's a bullshit way to win.

  • MAS QUE JOGUINHO FEIO E AMARRADO esse do Rafael Mendes. Pior que funciona!

  • lucha cangrejera!!

  • perdi tempo

  • luta muito brother!

  • boa luta!!!!

  • YESSS SIRR!!

    technically twice this year!!

  • well tehcnically he lost at panams. but today i guess he did win i really want to see this video. been watching the mendes bros since that blue belt vid xcombat had however long ago. theyre both badasses.

  • rafael is a monster!

he should have beat cobrinha at the pan ams and he beat him today!

really interested to see how the mendes brothers and bruno frazzato will do in the same category at the mundials

  • wait what?? he beat cobrinha?!? damn!!!!

  • Im sure Cobrinha will finish Rafeal next time

  • Was the spoiler really necessary? You couldn't rave about how magical his win in a specific match under the comments field of that specific match? Just wondering. Some people prefer not know the results of contests before they watch them, and watch brackets in order from round 1 until the finals. Try becoming considerate.

  • Mendes bros are both great - no doubt about it; however, Rafael's strategy for Cobrinha is totally lame and doesn't do justice to his game or the sport. He works to lock in the 50/50 and stall until the last minute (until the last 10 seconds here). The stall technique is something someone my level might try to win .... it's not something professionals should be doing, IMO. I'd respect his effort MUCH more if he fought straight up and lost.

  • rafa swept him 1min into the fight. it went back and forward actually for the first 5mins. not just that, but it is extremely difficult fighting cobrinha - he is ridiculous, and rafa had to play his own game, which meant that position.

  • Yeah I wasn't sure on his strategy. Looked like he went from de la riva to a leg lock set up but not directly into the 50/50. You think he wanted to go to 50/50 immediately? It' looked like a really dangerous strategy, like Cobrinha could've gotten the submission as easily as Mendes could've.

  • was the first 2 points for a takedown?

  • Yes, it was a takedown. Sorry for missing that.

  • What an unbelievable match!!!
