Hey! Have you thought about anxiety zero technique (I think its at anxiety0.info)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker pretty much cured panick attacks with it.
Actually alot of your guys are right about confidence- it is the key to public speaking. There are loads of reports lying around the net that can help you, but most of them you need to pay :(
BUT... i found out a free one! u just need to sign up for free. its pretty cool. check it out!
today the prof asked me a question and i cudnt answer and said the stupidest thing i feel so depressed now everyone thinks i m dum...my biggest fear is everyone is going to think i m stupid or weird....please someone tell me they feel this too...
Please check out my channel. I used to suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, ocd and agarophobia. I no longer suffer or go through any of it. im only a senior in high school, but in my experience it's all about confidence. when i felt inferior to my audience, i would quiver and talk really fast when i had to give speeches. now i'm starting to become more confident and convince myself that im intelligent and have something valuable to share, and my last few presentations have been solid.
I just made a public speaking engagement where I basically fell apart. I was shaking and my voice cracked once, from there, it just got worse. I presented less than half of what I prepared for a solid week. I handed the Mic to the next presenter and left the room. That was three days ago, and I still can't sleep. I feel so ashamed.
I did not understand what Mike was saying, Mike if you are reading this can you make it clear because I bet is good info but only if we can understand it. Thanks :P
I had to laugh at some of these comments LOL. I thought that I was the only one that freaks out on presentations. I go to school with a bunch of sharks, they wait until your finish with your presentation so they could ask questions, their purpose is to make you look bad so they could look good in front of the Professor. Not all the students are like that, but in my program I see it all the time. It's really important to know your topic inside and out or else they'll eat you alive.
I have a presentation tomorrow - ugh. I'm so gonna bomb this one.
I generally don't mind presenting especially if it is a topic that I'm comfortable with and a audience that I know pretty well.
Unfortunately, I have neither on my side tomorrow. I have to present in front of a panel of frickin' geniuses on a topic that I can barely make sense out of. Impending disaster.. =(
Guys i had to do a presentation today for college and i nearly had a panic attack, i bolted out of the classroom before it was my turn to speak, what am i gona do, help please!
Hey I am in your position right now, I wish I had seen your comment b4 I would have tried to assist you, if you don't mind me asking how was it, I have a Business presentation for my college and will be speaking in front of an auditorium full of people, I am so scared. How did it go with you, were you really scared, how was it, can you give me some insight on how it went with you, maybe it can help me get over mines, thank you.
It was ok, i made up an excuse to say that i had to step out of class, I had to speak publicly on two occasions since then and surprisingly they went fine. On the first occassion b4 i spoke i almost had another panic attack but when i started to speak i immediatly calmed down and i was fine. In hindsight i remember speaking very loudly and confidently, which i hadnt expected to do and i think this just helped me relax, pure fluke!
have you ever tried going through your speech in front of someone like a friend or partner, i usually find this helpful, or if its really bad you could try hypnotherapy, i was going to try it but its to expensive for me
How did your presentations go 1qfxt? You know what, I haven't done many presentations in a while, and they never used to bother me as much as they seem to now to be honest - I used to speak up in class quite a lot in school. It seems like I'm a lot more nervous now than I was, just thinking about it makes me feel bleurgh! I had a group presentation a few weeks back, and that should be a consolation really as I only had a few lines to read but god I was sooo nervous my heart was racing like mad!
The first time I realized I had glossophobia (fear of public speaking) was in 8th grade. I was doing a 5 minute presentation with my group in front of class. I had memorized everything and practiced in front of the mirror countless times.
When it came time for me to speak, I spoke fast and my voice cracked so much, it sounded like I was crying and was losing my voice. I have never felt so terrible in my life!
I'm in high school now, and not even debate class has helped me.
Ha! Sound just like ME!! I'm the same way, except......I;m even Worse, lol. I shook horribly, extremely quivery voice, you name it, I do it, But thanks to Toastmasters, a club to help with speaking, i'm really starting to get over this. Check for a Toastmasters club in your area. Other than that, i'd advice you to keep practicing, or keep watching videos like this =)
I remember I made a speech in front of all my fellow students and college faculty. At first I wasn't too nervous then I realized that I was on the podium with thousands of pairs of eyes gazing right at me then I felt my leg begin to shake. Whether or not other people noticed it, it was embarassing for me LOL The next time I was on the podium I was much less nervous. i think the best way to overcome the fear of speaking publicly is to realize that all those eyes staring at you are harmless. :)
I think people get panic attacks because they're focusing on the crowd and how they present yourself rather than focusing on the message they want to get across. I get really nervous when I think about how I will come accross to others, but then I think about what's more important.. the message that I want to say and nothing else matters
in year 9 i hadto say a speech on shaekspeer and at the first few wors i got so nervouse i couldnt even get words to come out of my mouth, this moment has scarred me and i am now a terrible public speaker
whenever i had to do some presentation, i gets so nervous that i start stammering very badly. it becomes so disgusting for me that with time i have started being reserved nd hate large gathering or keep mum in when in gathering. so with time ppl have started thinking me as a shy or arrogant person nd this has finally hit my public life... don't know what to do nd how to over come this vicious cycle of fear of public speaking nd low public life...
Cooliohoolio is absolutely right. We're just taking this garbage too seriously. Just fucking nut up. Think. Stand. Speak. Think. Stand. Speak. That's all I was thinking about. That's all you're doing. You're standing (natural), thinking (natural) and speaking (natural). Think. Stand Speak. That's it. Over and Over. You konw what you're speaking about, you know how to stand and you know how to think. Very simple. Thanks cooliohoolio.
It's kind of weird for me. I can be up in front of an audience, no problem. I just don't like sitting up in front of class with my backs turned toward everyone. That's what makes me uncomfortable when my backs turned toward everyone and I don't know how they're looking at me or if they're looking at me plus I have to sit still. It helps get rid of the nervs to be a little active. If you ask me sitting up in front of a lot of people like at school or some other event is the hardest thing
i never have but it is interesting. i have been reading about Salvia divinorum and there is a nice book im reading on DMT called DMT: the spirit molecule by rick strassman. Im not allowed to because i would lose my physician license in 1/2 a second. and yes carl sagan i think is the greatest: I WISH I CAN SPEAK AND THINK LIKE HIM! lol, speaking on pubic speaking. peace
Its not even mental.. i don't stand there thinking "what is everyone thinking about me" It's not like that at all. Its the physiological stuff, like palms sweating and heart racing that gets to me. All i'm really thinking up there is "why can't i just breath normal and get through this?"
You get the surge of adrenaline, your palms start to sweat, your heart races a bit and your initial thoughts are on whats going wrong. Your mind reinforces the feelings and it grows. A suggestion is, as soon as you get the rush, simply tell yourself I feel the energy (not nerves) and tell you mind and body what to do breathe easy, stay relaxed and calm, etc.
really thats nothing. i feel like defecating on myself. i run to the bathroom like 5 times before a speech. sorry for the bad visualization, but thats how bad my nerves get. and its more than nerves for me, its a full fledged panic attack. im literally like a scared animal at times.
good luck with the presentation. my best go at presentations is just rehearsing over and over (and over and over). that helps big time. but i hate the horrible nervousness.
i get the same thing! its so embarrasing my voice starts getting shaky and i start literaly shaking it looks like im having a sizer and people just laugh at me like im weird =[
@ash73829 Feeling not so comfortable is normal. It is not normal to feel like you are home alone. People try to control how they feel, but that's a futile attempt because you can not control your feelings. So if you feel uncomfortible, there is nothing wrong and you need not to be ashamed. Knowing this nervous feeling will pass as you get used to the situation. Speaking is a skil, practice will make it perfect. And one more thing, dont talk in your mind, it will mess up ur speech.
the answer lies in the questions you ask yourself. When you ask yourself why you "can't" do something, your brain will generate all sorts of reasons, not necessarily real reasons, on why you can't make do it.
So subconsciously or consciously, you feel dis-empowered and nervous!
Check out my blog, the Shy Speakers' Guide to Success on Stage at [dot]garyguwe[dot]com for proven tips and techniques you can use to manage and minimize fear. =) Hope it helps!
deoxysDNA, I can relate to you. I was never afraid of public speaking, in 6th grade i even read a 15 page paper, non-stop, and my voice didn't break once. Then in 7th grade, we were reading a story out loud and randomly picking people to read. For some reason, when my name was called, i panicked and i couldn't finish the second sentence. I literally had to stop to take a breath. It was so embarrassing watching people turn their heads to see if i was ok. Ever since, i've been terrified of it.
first of all xbrandon1x u fucking queer, what I am trying to do is help people realize that it isnt that big of a deal to do this and my purpose for going to this topic was 2 reasons, 1. bored and 2. because i want to try to help people understand that it isnt that bad to speak in front of a group. Btw, i have a life, your the one who has no life making a stupid ignorant reply like that. So its u who needs to get a life. Fucking loser
hey loser plz stfu, u r no help here except being a pain in the ass calling 95% of the human population noobs. its a natural thing. even some dogs gets nervous or scared if given too much attention. every person is different in their weakness nd strengh so come on, plz, don't be a fuckin bitch nd criticize the weak points nd also stop BSing that u r helping loser. so my advice stay in ur dark coner, continue masterbation, get a life, nd don't get into other ppl's bussines
well darkapaul apparently you weren't ever educated because honestly i've seen 2nd graders talk more sense than your pathetic self. How would you even know how dogs feel inside? unless you are one which you probably are. i bet you pee yourself everytime you have to talk infront of people too. get a life you loser. get a girlfriend and friends, oh wait you can't cuz u have fears speaking to people. lmao
FUCK off dickless don't u have any senses in ur pathetic head to know that no one wants u here?still commenting nigga?if i fear public speaking y the fuck am i talking to u then, plz again use ur common sense. nd again with the retarded question; how do i know how dogs feel inside? by their actions dumbass, dogs can't speak so they express their feelings by action. just stfu nd permanently stay in ur loser coner with ur hardcore gay porns, nd don't even think about messing with other ppl bussines
hey i just got done with a presentation for my health class and guess what? I'm still alive, so i guess its not that fatal when u making presentation isn't that right darkapaul bet u wouldn't say anything of that stuff if u saw me in real life, fucking little pussy boy and ill do whatever i want its fucking youtube and not some little bitch like you or any one else on this stupid pathetic video commenting can do a damn thing about it, darkapaul keep jerking it to that horny guy porn, sick freak.
coolioholio: you may still be alive, but this is a serious fear for a lot of people. it has nearly intolerable effects on the body and mind. the fact that you don't face this problem is not my concern, nor is it anybody else's. what DOES concern me, however, is your ignorance and lack of respect for those you speak to. get the hell off of your high horse.
Fuck you coolioholio, just because it's not a problem that you can't public speak doesn't mean other people are babies. Public speaking is one of the top 5 fears in the world. I bet you have trouble doing a lot of things other people think is simple. Oh and, why the hell are you looking at this video if you don't have this problem, to criticize? Get a life dude..
com'n ....I bet your voice sounds like an angel....lol......I got problems with speaking to y'know..I'm training in a call center and speaking fluently is a must...but my shyness keeps me from getting that......have any idea what to do?
I think something made me scared to speak in public. One time I had to read to the class and my voice obviously sounded nervous and I repeated the same sentence like 5 times and then the teacher asked if I was ok. I said "y.yeah" and he said I could sit down. That was the most embarrassing moment of my life so far :(
At times I'd rather pretend I was sick to go home just so I won't have to read a paragraph out loud. Yeah really bad D:
Well, we all get nervous, at least 95% of us do. Even the most talkative people in the class get nervous when they give presentations, but some people just perform alot worse than others. Take me for an example. I get scared to death, I dont even sleep well the night before, my heart beats so fast, and once I am up there, I'm still nervous as hell, but most of the time, my presentations come out very well. Use the stress to your advantage. Also, start off with a strong voice. That'll make u bttr
The problem with me is that I am not good at reading out loud something to the class. A lot of times my mouth can't catch up to my mind and I make tons of mistakes. That's what gets me.....
I hate public speaking more than anything in the wholeee world, I cant even talk right, I choke on my words, and my face feels like its on fire, and it seems like everyone can hear my heart beat its pounding so hard. my english teacher told me in the beginnging of school wed have tons of creative writing and sharing it to the class, that night thinking about it I made my self physically sick.
I just dont sleep much, by the time i have to make my speech i look relaxed and at home. So far, thank god, i havent fallen asleep in the middle of a presentation.
its all confidence, if you are really confident then you will naturally present like a champion public speaker. But for everybody else, just take drugs or alcohol, that easy.
i take a xanax before i go on stage. not to much, not to get fucked up or anything, but just to relax me. and I still do it, and i've done over 20 plays, and 4 tv commercials. lol. but just be confident, i know its eaiser said than done though. lol

@ash73829
Hi Ash!,
the answer lies in the questions you ask yourself.

Fucking loser
coolioholio 3 years ago
hey loser plz stfu, u r no help here except being a pain in the ass calling 95% of the human population noobs. its a natural thing. even some dogs gets nervous or scared if given too much attention. every person is different in their weakness nd strengh so come on, plz, don't be a fuckin bitch nd criticize the weak points nd also stop BSing that u r helping loser. so my advice stay in ur dark coner, continue masterbation, get a life, nd don't get into other ppl's bussines

hey i just got done with a presentation for my health class and guess what? I'm still alive, so i guess its not that fatal when u making presentation isn't that right darkapaul bet u wouldn't say anything of that stuff if u saw me in real life, fucking little pussy boy and ill do whatever i want its fucking youtube and not some little bitch like you or any one else on this stupid pathetic video commenting can do a damn thing about it, darkapaul keep jerking it to that horny guy porn, sick freak.
coolioholio 3 years ago
coolioholio: you may still be alive, but this is a serious fear for a lot of people. it has nearly intolerable effects on the body and mind. the fact that you don't face this problem is not my concern, nor is it anybody else's. what DOES concern me, however, is your ignorance and lack of respect for those you speak to. get the hell off of your high horse.

What what a bunch of noobs, its not even hard to speak in front of people, just stop being a baby about it and do it damn.

for A LOT of people its hard, its a proven fact that people fear public speaking more than death. so there you go.
RahReplicaGrrrl 3 years ago 2
Fuck you coolioholio, just because it's not a problem that you can't public speak doesn't mean other people are babies. Public speaking is one of the top 5 fears in the world. I bet you have trouble doing a lot of things other people think is simple. Oh and, why the hell are you looking at this video if you don't have this problem, to criticize? Get a life dude..

The problem I have is making my voice loud enough for everyone to hear. When I try doing this it always sounds like I am trying too hard :(

com'n ....I bet your voice sounds like an angel....lol......I got problems with speaking to y'know..I'm training in a call center and speaking fluently is a must...but my shyness keeps me from getting that......have any idea what to do?
hellraizr01 3 years ago
I think something made me scared to speak in public. One time I had to read to the class and my voice obviously sounded nervous and I repeated the same sentence like 5 times and then the teacher asked if I was ok. I said "y.yeah" and he said I could sit down. That was the most embarrassing moment of my life so far :(
At times I'd rather pretend I was sick to go home just so I won't have to read a paragraph out loud. Yeah really bad D:
DeoxysDNA 3 years ago 5
Well, we all get nervous, at least 95% of us do. Even the most talkative people in the class get nervous when they give presentations, but some people just perform alot worse than others. Take me for an example. I get scared to death, I dont even sleep well the night before, my heart beats so fast, and once I am up there, I'm still nervous as hell, but most of the time, my presentations come out very well. Use the stress to your advantage. Also, start off with a strong voice. That'll make u bttr
Muhsroomhead 3 years ago
The problem with me is that I am not good at reading out loud something to the class. A lot of times my mouth can't catch up to my mind and I make tons of mistakes. That's what gets me.....

thank you so much for uploading this i have always been doing presentations and hated them!

RahReplicaGrrrl 3 years ago 5

its all confidence, if you are really confident then you will naturally present like a champion public speaker. But for everybody else, just take drugs or alcohol, that easy.
