It's interesting that Harrit says the nanothermite wouldn't have been enough to bring down the towers and that a LOT of conventional explosives would have been needed as well. That raises the problem of the lack any pattern of 130 db charges, lack of any pattern of det flashes, lack of any trace of det charges in the seismic record, lack of any destritus of det charges found in the debris, etc. etc.

@PoetryHound Here's just my hypothesis, and I admit I could be wrong (I'm no expert), but maybe the thermite was powerful enough to destroy almost all physical evidence of other explosives. We all saw how much dust there was, and Harrit clearly explains that nanothermite is incredibly powerful.

As far as sound goes, it could be that 1) the use of thermite decreased the normal amount of explosives needed, and 2) there were still plenty of bangs heard: /watch?v=ERhoNYj9_fg

Mr. Harrit certainly appears to be respectable. He seems to know what he is talking about, and he does not appear to be lying. If he is not lying, and not wrong about the presence of nano-thermite in the rubble, it is difficult to believe the official explanation. Of course, there are many other reasons to have real doubt about the official explanation.

In the end this is just one more instance of a government telling lies to motivate its people to go to war. But it still matters.

Unless you have worked in a government funded lab you probably do not know how government grants are awarded in the USA. The decisions are made by a committee called a "study section." It is a common lament among scientists that even ONE enemy on the study section of twenty people or more can utterly destroy a promising career. How much thermite? Tons! Bad guys had access. But let's say NIST is right; one column that buckled due to fire brought down the whole building. OK, how much thermite to weaken that one column? Or maybe the thermite just started the diesel fires. The point is, thermite should not have been there. Sulfur should not have been there (see Prof Jonathan Barnett). Plenty of reasons for ARSON investigation!

if jet fuel can melt steal...then all airplanes would melt in mid air. Kerosene and jet fuel burn at the same temperature, and yet kerosene stoves made of steel do not melt. Kerosene and jet fuel burn at around 1000+ degrees...steel melts at 2000+ degrees...and thermite heats to 2500 degrees.

@Dared2DoIT Good point, but steel melts at 2800 deg. F, so kerosene and jet fuel are even less suspect as a way to create the tons of molten steel found in the basements of all three WTC bldgs. Huge amounts of nanothermite material have been found in all dust samples from 9/11 that have been tested. Thermite is easily capable of melting steel. Various additives can adjust the temperatures reached in the reaction. Nanothermite can be formed into shaped charges that cut steel explosively.
