  • One of the best on 'McCartney'.

  • Paul's comment about the bitter Beatles breakup, the other three turning against him and how Linda helped get him through being accused of being "the bad guy" by John, George and Ringo.

  • This is one of my favorite McCartney songs, especially the guitar intro and outro. It's simple, but brilliant.

  • James Paul McCartney might outlive us all, so he'll miss us - I'm glad in advance ;-)

  • Linda is lovely in this<3

  • @CraploadOfPencils linda is always lovely

  • gatopfuelsaver

  • I love this song so much oh my god

  • He sounds so much like John Lennon in this song!

  • there is something pleasantly refreshing about the simplicity of this album.

  • i'm so incredibly happy to hear "mccartney" will be remastered, who thinks this album is perfection?

  • Gilbert's got tons of respect for McCartney.... Look it up

  • Linda grounded him, 'cos he's got that Gemini energy. Really liked her.

  • Paul getting back to basics. A fresh start after the heights of Beatlemania.

  • man we was lonely.....

  • MAN WE WAS LONELY! by Paul・McCARTNEY

  • I miss Home ~!!! <3

  • sounds alot like john lennon in some parts

  • seriously?! who could dislike this art?!

  • @greenbeatles1 heather mills for example...

  • Fantastic song. This seeped into my subconscious long ago, where it has resided ever since.

  • This song is so cute!

  • The final section of the song is brillant. Double notes, signfying a loving couple (Paul and Linda).

  • why can't frikkin modern day music be this good!!!!

  • @HopeGlenn5 dream theater's softer stuff is really good, check out the answer lies within

  • Everything he does is poure genius

  • Another MASTERPIECE ! as usual . . . from Sir Genius !!! Long Live to Sir PAUL ! RIP LOVELY LINDA !!!

  • PMc fans should watch "Wingspan" online. The Beats really broke down when they were in their prime.

  • Here's to 40 more years of one of my favorite albums being in the world.

  • great song ever

  • mnh! love it. That was "our" song. Thank you for posting.

  • Am I the only one to notice that the intro is the same chord progression as John's "Oh, my love"?

  • @huston3 sounds a little like it, but its not it.

  • @TheBeatlesL0VE I dunno, have you sung "Oh, my love for the first time in my life, my eyes are wide open/Oh my love for the first time in my life, my eyes can see" at the top of your lungs over the intro?

  • @huston3 i think the song might be about their days in the Beatles cause the part "i use to ride on my fast city line. singing song that i thought were mine alone" its cause when he was in the Beatles all his and johns were credited to eachother aka Lennon/McCartney so thats wy he says "singing songs i thought were mine alone" so he might have used it cause of that ..

  • @huston3 To the best of my recall, the intro goes: A13, D, Dm, A... "Oh, My Love doesn't follow that chord progression; it goes (for the sake of comparison let's assume it's also in D): Em7, F#m, Em, D...

  • @bunchie1966 yeah, sing the lyrics at the same time. I think they could fight over that progression. Well, if John were still here, that is.

  • @bunchie1966 can't argue music theory with you, and don't play piano. Just saying to the untrained ear, singing the words as the chords are strummed, would sound close enough that if I had been lennon, it would have probably pissed me off if written contemporaneously, or would be close enough to piss off paul if done afterwards.

  • songs that I thought were mine alone. great line.

  • i always thought this would be a great song for johnny cash to cover. seems to work great for his voice, especially the "fine all the while" part

  • stop wearing wood?. lol!. paper is lie!. gloves are a conspiracy to overthrow the government of the fingers!. me Elvis and Bigfoot went flying around the galaxy with the Aliens after breakfast one Sunday morning and when we landed we all went and bet the horses... and we all lost!!!!!!!!!!..........fucking Communists!!..

  • Man we was lonley.......

  • wellisaythat is cool

  • A favorite of mine that unfortunately gets overlooked on this fantastic album. I remember listing to this when I was about 6 or 7 in first grade, and I still think it's fantastic.

  • i think the second voice and the chorus sounds a little bit like john

  • to rule914: idk though im sure youve seen him live recently in some shows in the past couple years, his voice is deeper, but for a live performance, wich makes it harder to sing ne way, he hit every note with that smooth mccartney touch, further more this is important music, and so is the music that he listened to as a kid, to all aspiring musicians "THE ROOTS PRODUCE THE FRUITS"!!!

  • sir macca long live the man who is in the guiness book book of records the greatest composer this century, truly the king of pop.

  • I've loved this music and song since I was about 5. My parents met at a Paul concert and I've been raised on him. Thanks for bringing back the memroies.

    Love you Paul!

  • "singing songs that i thought were mine alone" - nothing like sharing the credit for the best songs of your life

  • @joaormedeiros this was around the time when all his money was tied up in the legal battles the beatles were having at the time , it must have been frustrating ! i think thats what that line is about, i could be wrong though !

  • Dear YouTube friends: Mr. and Mrs. McCartney were great and tenacious animal protectors and animal lovers. We could see in this picture both of them near rams and sheep in Scotland. They were vegetarians. Mr. McCartney is still an animal protecting activist. HE IS A MUSIC GENIUS. MRS. LINDA MCCARTNEY WAS BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

(PLEASE PEOPLE STOP KILLING ANIMALS! STOP EATING MEAT! STOP WEARING FUR/LEATHER/WOOD!ThankyouAdemar)

  • Stop wearing wood?

  • Stop wearing "wood"? How does wood affect animals... and who wears clothes made of wood anyway?

  • did u no that he wrote and sung every song and played every instrument, and all the voices was sir macca

  • hmm singing songs he thought was his own?

  • Sounds like a White album song.

  • yea George John and Paul defined their own musical style in the white album, which resembles their solo careers

  • Paul's hair was gray a long time ago. He had a lot of gray growing into his dark hair when he was on the cover of the Rolling Stone. I have that picture.

  • Everything he does is pure genius.

  • one of the best songwriters of our time.

  • Macca is the best songwriters of whole time.

  • I think it's cranberries, because of the "Cranberry sauce/ I buried Paul" reference which triggered the rumours of his death, but that's just me!

  • man I'm gonna be lonely when Paul dies. Music has gone downhill a bit in the last few years.

    Does his son record?

  • don't talk this! he will never die! Paul is still strong and he have a fantastic voice! his hairs isn't grey and he still look like 30 or more years old! long live Paul McCartney and fab four!

  • his hair isn't grey because he is coloring it, i think^^

  • His voice deteriorated significantly post-1984. It was in its prime 1964-1973.

I agree, Ringo has aged better.

  • If no one kills him and he doesn't die in some freak accident he will probably live another 20-30 years.

  • hope so. he seems very very healthy for his age, still jumping around having fun, even making a kid 0_0 he's staying with us for a loooong time :]

  • Comment removed

  • he has a 4 year old daughter lol

  • thanks ,, doctor

  • @cherylanneray his son does record

  • @cherylanneray How do you know you're not going to die before Paul?

  • @cherylanneray How do you know you're not going to die before Paul?

  • @cherylanneray yes, James McCartney records. He plays guitar, mandolin, and drums, co-wrote a few songs on some of his father's solo albums, including Flaming Pie and Driving Rain. and played percussion and guitar on those songs. He plays lead guitar on Linda's solo album, Wide Prairie McCartney is currently recording a solo album with his father's help.

James has played live a few times, and is working on his own album with help from Paul expected to be released in 2010.

  • @cherylanneray check out fleet foxes , the only band that i think makes good music today

  • @cherylanneray paul also got his music to go downhill for reasons only known to his critics. WINGS was blasted for many years because of the quality and softness of his music. it is a 1970's thing...

  • @cherylanneray Yes he's finally got an EP out! :) He doesn't sound like Paul and neither does his music but it's actually not bad in my opinion.

  • @cherylanneray Who said Paul was going to die?

  • @cherylanneray: give me a break, music has gone down? Ever hear Paul gilbert? there are artits today that will run around paul's archaic playng and writing. Just look.

  • @cherylanneray this. this this this.

  • @cherylanneray

Yes his son records and plays too, But he sounds nothing like his dad. James McCartney i think

  • Paul's first solo album the "Cherries" album has many classic songs and this one is no exception with the accoustic guitar and Paul and Linda in their debut harmonies make this a delight to listen and enjoy. I disagree with spdavies comments regarding Paul's shallow song writing after this album. Maybe spdavies didn't realize the cherries album had another side to the jacket of Paul and his daughter Mary just as Paul has many genius sides to most of his music!

  • If you don't like this... You're stoopid! Great stuff!

  • this is the first time i hear this song, but if someone had called this an unreleased beatles song with john and paul singing the chorus i'd believed it. i seem to hear john, but it has to be in my head.

  • beautiful, thank you Paul!

  • It's a little dig at Lennon.

"singing songs that I thought were mine alone"

  • My interpretation of the lyric is that he thought he was in tune just with himself...his thoughts, his songs...etc.. but then he met Linda, his soulmate, and he realizes that he is not one but a part of something else...which the other half, linda, shared in his thoughts and music..so life is not lonely and all the elements of his life were not just in his own mind and heart anylonger.

  • John & Yoko referred to Paul having little underhand digs at John in the BBC interview they did a few days before John's murder. That was one reason why John wrote 'How Do You Sleep?' to get back at Paul. I have seen a copy of Get Back where 'McCartney' has the only songwriting credit - not 'Lennon/McCartney' as you always see nowadays.

  • He starts off writing a catchy hillbilly song, but can't keep his sheer melodic genius in check, and soars to sweet heights with: "I used to ride on my fast city line, ..." etc.

  • how do you play this?

  • well we're still listening these "forgottens" pearls. Some things last--- some don't. Macca will live forever!

  • Yeah, we won't forgrt him, never!

  • COOL!

  • awesome!

  • One of my favorite acoustic compositions by Paul.
