steps are nt added they just happen.Imagine throwing a ball it cant stop until the energy of the the throw dissipates same i applies here. The legs are more like brakes that u cant control
Why do all the receiving partners add extra steps? is it to make it look more powerful? It looks like the receivers are intentionally not trying to regain balance. Sure, there is energy there, but students jumping back and not trying to regain footing makes this look silly.
They are not adding extra steps. it may appear so but this is the effect of the force travelling through the receivers body. U can resist but with the amount of force projected u will be hurt.
This is my understanding as a a beginner tai ji quan student.
The "extra steps" are added so they don't end up on their arse or on their heads. Simple self preservation. You will understand clearly when you receive a correct push.
I've been fortunate enough to touch with this school. Sifu Karram and Dai Sifu Mizner do casually what the rest of the taiji world talks about as though it were perished legend, and the body of the school are unreasonably powerful as well. A truly humbling, terrifying, and illuminating experience. I've been a taiji man for 8 years, studying and searched exhaustingly, and trained with some of the best, and I don't hink there's anyone out there who even comes close to this school.
pleasant... that last comment you made is wrong. new york city has a gem that could be found if you look. this school in nyc is definitely the real deal... and goes beyond what you see in this vid. they develop power there...peng jing.
Peng jing is only one of the eight main energies and usually the first energy to explore...still nice to hear of other schools that have something though.
the gent moving shows multiples more reaction than givers action that is the hidden inner movement combined with intent and chi , he doesnt have to push, for combat you train to deliver deadly srikes in a chain like fashion, neutralize, atack, neutralize, attack... attack, neutralize, neutralize, neutralize, attack... always gaining a better position to release fajin and cause dissruption.... it is a deadly art... worked with masters, could of killed me if they wanted and they were 80+ years old
well done mr karram. my full admiration goes to you. through these videos it seems we're are witnessing a practioners realisation of his practice. awesome. you know, this is inspirational stuff. it demonstrates that with a combination of a good teacher and dedication, and maybe a pair of shiny pants you can break through. well done to you and your teacher. i'm going to off to train now. keep posting!
Excellent work! The form is smooth and fluid and displays, as well, elemental understanding. Perhaps the art is worthy of the instructor's contribution. _onelikethewind

The action puts meaning to the narrative of the Taichi teaching. They are not just background noises.
