Those girls are touching the wrong part of the bag, and are not lowering their center of gravity. They should break down their steps with their body squared up with right field, then look over their right shoulders to check for the passed ball then explode off their right foot on a passed ball towards second. After they touch the bag it should be no more than four steps.

THANK YOU!!! I coach a Jr. High team and a High school JV team and on my Jr. High team I tried to teach to look for the ball as I was taught in my years of playing baseball but I was met with nothing but resentment from people that had only been around softball.
