In 1998, David Beckham was sent off in the round of 16 of the World Cup, because even though he was fouled by an Argentinian defensemen, he kicked the guy back. He therefore got the red card, and was sent off. Argentina then beat England through penalty kicks. Vs. Greece, David Beckham hit the game tying goal which earned England a spot in the 2002 World Cup. This goal was even more dramatic, since it came through a free kick from about 30 yards out, and converted in the 93rd minute of the game.
