@Dickneeds: Yes.....he used to refer to WCOP as, "Willie the cop".....those were the days, with Arnie Ginsberg at WMEX and Dick Summer at WBZ.....and later Peter Wolf at WBCN....I left Boston in 1971, but often miss the old stomping grounds.
Love this song. Actually met Bobby Curtola in the late 70's in a major Department Store in Toronto, Canada. Didn't know him well at that time; however did know he was a great singer.
Bobby Curtola never caught on real big in the U.S., with only this one (which reached No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1962) and "Aladdin" (No. 92 later the same year). But he was pretty big in his home country, Canada, where some considered him the Candian counterpart of such U.S. heart-throbs as Fabian and Frankie Avalon.
To Toddwindyhill. Was Bob still at WCOP when this song came out.? I know he left WCOP in 1962 to become the best voice ever of the Bruins.

In summer 1962 my dad got me my first transistor radio and I enjoyed this song played most of the summer long. Great memories - thanks!
