  • omg u went to the japenese garden. I WAS THERE TOO!

  • Will i have any issues with the screen if i hook it up to my windows PC?

  • @Sytrusze Nope.

    kp

  • @kpappletech cool thanks, hope my vid's will not lagg like yours. It might be a mac problem

  • @Sytrusze yes you will, you cannot hook up your windows with this monitor

  • That is a really nice TV. What? It's not a TV? It's a MONITOR? Holy crap, its HUGE!

  • gosh such a nice screen and laggy video. a shame. well money cannot buy knowledge

  • btw i just wanted to let u know that its not the wired connection or wireless connection thats the problem. its the processor of ur computer

i have a 2.66 macbook pro with the same exact movie and does the same thing

  • At times like this I'd like to yell at Steve Jobs:

'WHAT HAPPENED TO THE EMPTY PROMISES OF OPENCL??????'

The least Apple could have done, is use OpenCL in conjecture with the native apps of OS X.

  • do you know what is sad about the 30 inch apple display is the fact that my all in one imac is actually cheaper

  • i am confused why you would pay that much for this 30 inch LCD display? You can find a 32 LCD T.V. for a tenth of the cost of that thing. Additionally, Apples display is the worst in the industry, with only 700:1 contrast and 16 m/s refresh rate. Now a days anything under 30000:1 is considered low. My Samsung LCD monitor is 100,000:1, a 2 m/s refresh rate at 120htz. All's you paid for was the name.

  • Yes, but I don't want a big TV. I needed a screen. Also to make a note, the LCD TV in question doesn't have the resolution of 2560*1600 that the ACD does.

And yes, I did pay for the looks/brand. I just like it. I considered Dell's monitor for a long time, but after reading customer support horror stories, I decided to pick Apple, because their customer support is awesome and I don't have any regrets.

    kp

  • @kpappletech have you been doing reviews and videos because i havent been noticing.

  • @Bramillionaire @Bramillionaire

You cant compare a tv with a computer monitor.... a computer monitor has a higher quality with resolution and pixel density... a monitor give a more correct and clear picture and colors. And that monitor is made for graphic artis... If you would come to a office where they work with that with your lcd tv they would laugh at you.

  • I have an LG Flatron W2043T it's good as well.

  • how is it for gaming on a PC? whats the specs?

  • look on the website

  • Elmer Fudd reviewing ?? :)))))))

  • for all we know you could have teeny tiny hands

  • When we are buying this thing for $900, shouldn't we expect 1920x1080 rather than 1920x1200? 16:9 ratio? Like an HDTV?

  • This Display has a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, is not intended for gaming consoles but you can used it, It has a beautiful image. It is a S-IPS Display. What he is talking about, is that every LCD Display that is not used in its native resolution, will use pixel doubling and may look a little fuzzy.

  • Their maybe better monitors of the same calibre than the Apple Cinema Display, but none are as sexy as this little minx.

  • wow! (I'm the 6,566th viewer)

  • As with all Apple products you do pay a premium, but its really well worth it. I got this screen about 3 weeks ago and its stunning. Once you fire up a 1080p video in it its simply amazing.

  • hehe anyway you got one very good display.watching your video on NEC2490 ;)

  • NEC 3090 >ACD Sorry but thats the truth.

  • At the time, it wasn't released, but if it was, I would have purchased that screen instead. NEC make fantastic screens.

    kp

  • What are the ports?

  • Dual Link DVI port.

    kp

  • just that? does it have mini dipslay port or mini dvi or vga?

  • Yes, it can output to VGA via an adapter, it can not output to Mini Display Port because DVI is an analog based connection, and the Mini Display Port is a digital based connection.

The only option would to buy a converter box.

    kp

  • So it only has a DVI port, nothing else?

  • That's it, just a DVI port. Of course it has connections to the power brick, but regarding visual output, its just dual-link DVI supporting resolutions up to 2560*1600.

    kp

  • Can you take a picture of it so I can see?

  • No I can't.

Its just one cable which comes out of the display, then splits into 4 connections: a DVI (male), power connector (to connect to the power brick), a USB (male), and Firewire 400 (male).

    kp

  • @kpappletech Wait so like how would u hook that up to a mac pro like thru a dvi port in ur unboxing vid it didnt show a dvi cable come with it will u have to buy a different one or wat????? PLZ HELP

  • Yes, the Apple Cinema Display uses a DVI port which you can connect to almost any computer. It has many cables at the end, but it DOES have DVI.

    kp

  • DVI is analog? I could've sworn it stood for "Digital Video Input".

  • THERE ARE NO ZERO AL, LCD Apple Cinema Display's & I don't want to sound mean but you don't know what your saying you are not helping to people.

THIS IS WHAT APPLE HAS TO SAY!!!* DVI (Digital Visual Interface)* FireWire 400* USB 2.0 * DC power (24 V)Connectors * Two-port, self-powered USB 2.0 hub * Two FireWire 400 ports * Kensington security port The Cinema HD is designed with a pure digital interface

I just got LaCie 30 inch LED much better then my old ACD 30 P.S. Mini Display Port is DVI !!

  • Comment removed

  • My TV is smaller than that!

  • IM VERY SORRY BOUT THE COMMENT BELOW. wheres your dock??? lol.

  • I enabled the hide option.

    kp

  • Nice review.

    Welease Bwian! ;)

  • hey kp, wt is that keyboard called of urs ? might buy 1 :)

  • the apple aluminum keyboard with a cover on it

  • its is worth paying $2798 AUD for a 30 inch apple lcd monitor???

I could buy a state of the are 46" LCD TV for that.

  • u should buy the 46" lcd tv and use that as a monitor if u want

  • no way buy the 46 inch lcd tv

  • the highest resolution you can get on any tv at the moment is 1920x1080, regardless of the size, where as the cinema hd you get 2560x1600 and if you do design work or similar, it makes a huge difference.

  • kpappletech, do you edit for the House MD TV show???

  • howd you get all that shit. wow.

  • LISP?

  • hey, it's called an accent!

    kp

  • that's not what a lisp is moron. people with lisps can't say "s"

  • LISP is a good programming language. Do you know it, kp? xD

  • Still irri that the screen is 16:10 while HD movies are 16:9.

    I hate widescreen!

  • you edit for house!?! wow no wonder u can afford this stuff :)

  • hu is house

  • a popular tv show

  • does it come with any cables to connect to a macbook ?

  • No, because MacBook's graphic cards do not support 30 inch displays which use a DVI interface to connect to computers like the MacBook Pro, and the ACD comes with interface connections for that. The MacBook uses MiniDVI. I think MAcBooks/MacBook Air can only support 22 inch displays, although I am not totally sure on that. MacBook Pro's and Mac Pro's can support the 30 inch ACD.

    kp

  • um i do game on that exact display with my 360 you have to ujust it

  • Really? The images don't looked washed out or pixalated?

    I'm too shocked for words.

I assume you use the display for your TV, Console Gaming, and computer right?

    kp

  • yeah man but not tv i have a seperate tv for that

  • Cool. The ACD is more like a big piece of jewelery (tech jewelery) than computer hardware in my opinion.

    kp

  • PS3 supports it.

  • I want this monitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! use it with a 17" Macbook Pro= Final Cut/ Photoshop HEAVEN>

  • 600 viewer!

  • wow and now i am the 5,676 viewer....

  • can u run a 360 on a 23in.?

  • I guess you could, but your better off getting an HD TV.

You get more inches for less money.

    kp

  • damn..this dude needs to get laid. Love apple products..the best, by far.

I'd recomend to watch maria ozawa in your 30". nice display dude!

  • Is that immature comment, really necessary?

    kp

  • Sorry man just had to say this after taking a test over commas (WHY did you remind me?) you wouldnt put a comma after comment. because you wouldnt pause while talking for that.

Love the Vid though FRICKING AMAZING display.

  • wow, them monitors are so old now.you can get better specs for way less. but i guess some guys are pure fanboys. not that thick it is,looks really old.

  • nice review

  • good review

problem is you didnt show the viewing angles of the screen (filming it from the sides to see how the image looks like)

  • KP that's is really sweet Display, nice review, i'm looking a 30-inch but I don't know about the Cinema display because it's been out for 4 years unchange and with a contrast ratio of 700:1 compare to Dell's Black Aluminum 3008WFP which has 3000:1 contrast ratio but I do like the cinema display better, I just wait until Apple release the new ones hope by WWDC 2008 by the way is that a Black Apple thin keyboard and where did you get it? So KP what do you think Apple 30 or Dell's 3008WFP

  • Dell, is obviously better value, but I like Apple because of the design, and the brand.

Also the re sell value is great.

    kp

  • its a keyboard short cut skin he applied

  • what do u use it with?

  • i am pretty sure he uses it with his mac pro

  • correct.
