  • One of the best movie in the world !! Star cast (Mohanlal & Prakash raj) awsome !! Songs & Bgm (A.R.Rahman) superb !! Director (Mani Rathnam) Genius....

  • wowwww.....awesome scene...and gr8 acting from mohanlal

  • Guys first stop fighting on mallu and tamil... look at other countries.. they dont much have inner politics than India has.. this was the trick when British left India... low caste..high caste... north...south. east..west.. if someone feel Mohanlal is better than MGR.. wht has he done to the people till now when compared to MGR???.... doesnt matter whether he is mallu or not... try to learn the history first before arguing... FYI... Malayalam,Kanada & Telgu was derived from Tamil language...

  • @ravindarv6 Mohan lal can never become CM of kerala. coz people in kerala know the difference between reel and real. BTW just coz tamil is an ancient culture doesnt mean that they are superior. if mohanlal dies people wont start rioting in the streets. Its not abt how old ur civilization is, its abt how civilized u r!

  • @ajith0787... You are just complementing my statement... this shows how civilized u r..its just an info I gave that Tamil is ancient lang.did I say that it is superior?. the argument continues only when people start thinking that "MINE" is superior..no matter whether it is lang, caste, religion..etc ..so if Kerala people really know who is reel and real, why Oommen Chandy is so corrupt??..wht abt palmolein case, etc ??..are you trying to say there are no communal riots in Kerala?..:-))..

  • @ravindarv6 well you gave a fact, I gave another fact. Truth is always ugly. whn did i say all mallu politicians are saints? When was the last time a communal violence happened in kerala? All i said was rioting in the streets when someone dies of natural causes is not suitable for a cultured civilization.

  • @ajith0787 Good..finally some honesty..:-)... I agree Truth is always ugly... now when the hell did i say tht Mallu politicians are siants??...there are many communal violence which is happening every year in Kerala..i dont've time to list all tht..but have seen in mathrubhumi, manoramaonline local newspapers..but the one which grabbed international attention was Marad massacre on May 2nd 2003.. God bless u my friend...:-)

  • @ravindarv6 oh screw yourself. tamil, malayalam, kannada, and telugu all derived from proto-dravidian. not tamil. tamil is just another derived language, just like any other. take all that stupid 'tamil superiority' nonsense that periyaar ramaswamy put into your retarded head and shove it down a toilet. there is one india. its not dravidian or aryan. there was never such a divide. it was formed by the merger of dravida and arya, where religion and culture and ethnically they became one.

  • @TheSpiritOfYuva Hey asshole.. Dravida also forms the origin of the word Tamil (Dravida -> Dramila -> Tamizha or Tamil)..refer wiki u numb nuts. again i m not saying tht Tamil is superior.. there are many facts in the history which can not be denied.. All I m saying is "Stay United".. be it anything..dont fight that "MINE" is the best... so grow up kid and dont act like a joker..:-)

  • @ravindarv6 that is an opinion. not a fact. whatever be, modern tamil, modern malayalam are all 'derived' languages. i have met far too many tamils who keep telling me malayalam is derived from tamil. malayalam has a linguistical history that traces back to the western Sangam literature. Periyaar Ramaswamy came up with this nonsense, (though a brilliant man he was). Dont go through with it.

  • @TheSpiritOfYuva well its not an opinion, its a proven fact which happened in 6th century... history never lies... only the people have/trying to destroy the Indian culture.. many foreigners who invaded have destroyed libraries/stolen techniques which had many facts in there(ex:Sinhala Library, some in southern part of India)...so coming to the point.. ofcourse yes, Malayalam was dervided from ancient Tamil & written using Vattezhuttu script..

  • @ravindarv6 what in the world are you talking about? the chera-chola differences, the cultural differences, the early pre-1st century linguistic differences are so well known! it was a part of a general area termed as Tamizhakam or First India(by the greeks), but we were culturally distinct from a far long ago period, and we split ourselves from the same culture. we didnt derive from you. we both derived from a common mother culture which was neither mal/tamil! LOL

  • @TheSpiritOfYuva.. Learn about Mayalam lang in wiki..

  • @ravindarv6 i do. im actually a south asian history degree student. up yours.lol. your comparison of malayalam being from tamil, is like saying pakistan declared independence from India in 1947, when in reality, both modern Republic of India and Pakistan both declared Independence from the same mother entity- British India. Check your semantics. but your source is right, we have a common cultural background. just because we are brothers doesnt mean you are my mother :P

  • @ravindarv6 malayalam and kerala, came under heavy Jewish, Arab, Roman, Greek, cultural influences as a result of Muziris, the busiest seaport in the world during that time. Due to these our cultural differences became much more pronounced. The Kerala Renaissance in the 17th and 18th century changed culture again. After 1900 due to benevolent kings, and great politicians, we became literate and urbane and 'European'esque and modern compared to you. Huge differences now.

  • @TheSpiritOfYuva Kerala is modern state??.. man u r real joker..LOL.. and u claim to be a history degree student..LOL...there is not even much IT in the state compared to other fast growing cities due to ur communist people..neway this is not the right forum to debate this..how much ever u keep barking Malayalam is derived from kodumthamizh and some words are borrowed from Sanskrit during sangam period. you can't go back and change the history now. :-)

  • What a great shot!!

    Amazing Lalettan..

  • ts al the way mani ratnam and arr

  • best mass scene

  • but film was huge flop!!

  • @midhundon: No, Sorry the was average because of its budget, The film was re-released in Telugu and collected well. The film was a flop in TN because of the problems created by the Politicians. But The film is considered by critics and by Mani himself as his Master Piece.

  • Mani's great creation !! Lal's great acting !! Rahman's great music !! put together IRUVAR........

  • Great acting, after the shot director Mani Ratnam even forget to say cut!!!!

  • How did Lalettan miss Best Actor Award for this?

  • KALIKAALAM

  • do you think MGR was well bulit six packer?? suprised to see foolish comments like this.

  • This is not the case of Mallu or Tamil. your comments show ur culture. If you don't like Mohanlal, this is not the way to remark on a public site. I personally feel Mohanlal looks better than MGR. and FYI MGR too is a mallu.

  • @auggie19: yes, You are right. When I searched for worst movies or best movie, they just mention few movies with their favorite actors. I don't understand why.

I think this is the best movie of Mohanlal. And This is the masterpiece of Maniratnam, his personal fav.

  • @kevinarjunps This is one the of best by mohanlal there r lot of movies (kreedam, devasaram) & much more he is one of the best actor india ever had.

  • Comment removed

  • and if u would like to call urself as an indian my brother why did u seperated all of us staing mallu, tamil etc... and why did u posted an insulting comment against a classic actor inspite of this being a public forum? if u can just check ur comments u can see straight away u started the mallu thing.... dont say u r an indian be and indian, be brothers....

  • vishnuonfire007

Sir, The comments were posted during the initial days of my blogging. I sincerely appologise for my foolish comments. I should have respected the feelings of Malayalees.. I am sorry. I have alreday posted in another blog that Malayalees are my bretheren and my best friends are Kurups,\and Nairs. I warmly reciprocate your feelings Sir, that you and all Malayalees are the bothers. You have got every right to admire Mohan Lal.

Let us part as friends. No hard feelings, Sir.

  • ohh come on VELGEAN no hard feelings... i was just stating a point... sorry if i was rude... bye tc... enjoy youtube... will meet some where in youtube :)

  • vishnuonfire007

    Thank you gentleman !

  • Watch Adimaipenn, MGR had a 6 pack in that film

  • MGR always maintained his figure till his last days. It is said that he practiced Yoga.

  • @velgean. Goodness! if you can't spell in English, please don't try and write in English. What does deragative mean you moron? It's not a word in the English language.

  • @74tak

If you would have known that there is an English word "derogative" you would have taken it as a minor spelling mistake. But being a Mallu who speaks a Tamil dialect language you should have been ignorant.

  • @velgean First of all, how do you suppose I am a mallu, whatever that means. And of course there is a word such as derogative in the English language. I was pointing to your lack of ability to spell.

  • @74tak

A typographical error is different from an ignorant spelling mistake. Any one can commit a typographical error including you. Anyway I admit a mistake is a mistake. let us not stand divided on this account.

  • @velgean what u know about acting?? lal is one of the best actors in whole india....who else do u think is good to act as MGR??? ....other than lal only kamal hasan wouldve been good for this role in tamil....but mani ratnam choose the best....even lal's hand movements communicatess....athu thanda acting.... showing off is not actingggg....

  • @greekzobra Loosu mathiri ethayavadhu eluthu....Pannada...

  • This film had lost lots of scenes,if not lost the sequence in frames due to sensorboard! Mani also got angry bcoz of this!Sensorboard's intervention happened because this film portrays 3 real life characters like late MGR,Karunanithi and Jayalalitha! No wonder y Maniratnam hesitates to do films in Tamil! Politicians r the biggest enemies of artwork!

  • just an example... the passion, the theme and senstivity of human nature - how it is potrayed in few lines... great work.. I dont think that anyone can be ever closer to Mani ratnam,

  • Tamil film of the century. Every frame is meticulously done. Hats off Mr.Mani.

  • The King with the King Maker

  • excellent scene and the movie too

  • No matter how many times I watch this scene, everytime I get goosebumps... Rahman's re-recording takes the scene to another level.

  • Exactly ..same here.

  • One of the best scenes in a movie which is probably India's best movie in the history of Indian cinema. Hats off to Mani Sir, A R Rahman, the awesome actors Mohan Lal and Prakash Raj.

  • one of the best tamil movies ever made. the dialogues just make you love the language. sad it dint make much of an impact on the box office. prolly the makers never meant that to happen primarily, critically acclaimed ones never are.

  • Mani sir, Please come back to Tamil and do a Tamil film!!!!Please

  • all guys who don like tamil nadu, tamil or tamil films and their culture need not comment or even watch these videos bcos nobody/any place is any good or great than tamil nadu and tamil people !

  • Which idiot tells that Tamilakam is bad, i will kill him. Sorry for some politics, but it happens everywhere. Tamilakam has always been my favorite for music and film, Rajni annai, Ilayaraja, AR Rahman, scientists, bureaucrats, technocrats, friends, colleagues, and one of the oldest cultures in India and the world. Go on friends.

  • "nan verum nadigan thaane" (I am just an actor, right?)..

    Wow.. mindblowing!

  • Ya dude...awesome line. Notice the voice modulation from Mohan Lal's part, a critical component of acting. The modesty and humble nature of the character is beautifully portrayed in that subtle change of voice tone ! Hats off to everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece.

  • PPl need to watch the whole movie to enjoy this scene.. u c how a simple actor is raised to demigod status... In my opinion Mani's best movie to date... ofcourse it bombed at the boxoffice.. i personally think the movie was relased at the worng time.. ppl in india r more willing to watch good realistic cinema, these days... at the time it was released commercial potboilers ruled.. if u get a chance dont miss this movie, the best from Mani!

  • nothing so gr8 abt the scene..

sad lal dint get best actor. beaten by the hyped indian from kamal, whereas prakashraj got supporting actor award.

  • I suggest you see the movie, learn the technical and artistic method of film-making. You'll appreciate then. It's easier to watch, the pain of providing an effective scene is known only when you actually direct it.

  • Mohanlal the versatile actor at his BEST

  • ppl stupidly follow cinima actors all around the world canady, aronald ,MGR,ramaroa... vijayaganth , sarath kumar. vijay specilly south india ppl.

  • Karunanithi used MGR and his mass for his selfish developement.karunanithi did brutos work allkarunanithi's intelligence failed against MGR who really own the ppl's heart.manirathnam had guts to take such a movie in period of karunanithi.

  • Lenin, stalin, Hitler!! Wonderful role models!!

  • lol

  • i dont get it, whats the big deal with this movie and this sceen?

  • i would say the best movie indian cinema has seen...it is a true story of tamilnadu politics...its not easy to take a movie like this...only manirathnam can do

  • mohanlal at his best

  • as the title suggests best scene of indian film

  • I want to see this film, is it possible to get a version with subtitles(my Tamil isn't that great)

  • This is probably pound for pound, mani ratnams best movie.

  • One of his greater performances. The accompanying music and Lals acting makes the scene a true classic.

  • I don't get it what so great about this sceen. Sure mohan lal is a great actor and the music is good.

  • if you watch shots closly u'll find, i havnt such an effective close shot !

  • people who don't know the history behind these two tall politicians of tamil nadu will not understand what Mani tried to convey in this seen .. thats probably one of the reasons the movie bombed in the box office.. see the movie with some old guy who knows the politics of tamil nadu during 1970-1980 .. yu will love what mani and ARR have done .. until then yu will not understand this scene
