I'm sorry if I'm a Funimation fan. This is my first time hearing Cooler's Japanese voice. Ryusei Nakao's role just seems more suited for Frieza rather than Cooler. Cooler just looks more of the "deeper-voiced" character, and no I'm not making fun of the Jap VA.

Most of that was done in the early 90s and before, now they have low end VO for low budgeted anime and its far more organized. Why people constantly bash the English dubs i don't know. I guess its because they watch the Japanese dub first and get used to those voices for 200+ episodes and then suddenly switch over for 1 minute and find out they have different voices, or things don't go exactly how they went in the Japanese version. However, i think both Jap and Eng are fine.

The voices are fine in both the English and Japanese versions. I almost always watch the English version because i hate having to read instead of hearing and watching, but when it comes to the movies the English version royally messes up, with the dumb rock music and singing. English VO is normally just as good as any other until you get down into the low budgeted anime. English studios have no low end VO casting, instead its down by who is the cheapest in order to keep money for other things.

I can't stand this. The voices are complete shit. Everyone sounds like they're 5 and Cooler sounds like a little pussy robot. They do say better things though...

What a dilemma. I prefer English dub :/

Probably because you grew up on the English dub. The Japanese version of DBZ is considered one of the best made anime ever with an all star voice cast. You just need to get used to it. When you do you'll never want to watch the English dub again

I grew up with the Spanish dub which is badass. it's more accurate to what they say in the Japanese one. But, Idunno, the English dub feels right to me and I'm not a big fan of reading subtitles anyway. I don't think I can ever get used to these voices :(

The other voices are much better in Japanese though. This is how the creator of DBZ wanted Goku to sound, if you watch Dragonball before DBZ you'll know why he sounds like this. I thought it was weird too at first but once you see enough Japanese DBZ you realize the epicness :]
