This is horrible. I hate how Groban's stealing the spotlight. The children and only the children should be singing this, no matter how bad they are. It's supposed to be about them, not him, yet he gets to open and sing most of the song. It pisses me off, like, I've never even heard of Josh Groban before, but after seeing this, I already dislike him. Seriously. And the kids even hug him at the end. Looks so staged.

Watch the video again. The children are basically just the background singers in this performance, when THEY'RE the ones that are supposed to be represented, yet Groban's singing most of the lyrics and the camera and spotlight's on him more. It's as if HE's being the star, rather than the children. I'm just saying this would have been a more effective performance if those children were singing alone. And of course, it would still raise money. Why wouldn't it?

Groban was invited to perform the song because he made it a huge international hit. He asked the African Children's Choir to join him because he loves music from that region (he's has collaborated with a bunch of African artists) and wanted to give them some US recognition, for which they were thrilled. He's about the least self-aggrandizing artist you could hope to find.
