  • Wow... just looked them up.. they went out of business

  • thats because the LTD is a standard. the LTD LANDAU was the top of the line and had 4 headlights. the t-bird and x-r7 are top of line in their models depending on options. refreshments for adults huh? some boozin going on at berts. drinking and driving is bad enough but drinking and buying a car. imagine waking up with a $400.00 car payment the next morning. i'll take the headache.

  • Interesting.....the Cougar and Thunderbird held their values better than the same year LTD. Especially since the those two were in the final year of that body style while the LTD was all new for '79. And while the Cougar was an XR-7 which was the top of the line, the T-Bird was a base model which would seem to indicate it held it's value better than the Cougar. Of course this was 1980 when gas prices hit 1.30 a gallon, there were long lines at the pump and big cars weren't the hottest sellers.

  • @optio4 Remember too, we don't know what the mileage is or what kind of shape the cars were really in. Remember, used cars then were a far bigger gamble then they are now for the most part.

  • All shot I believe at the WGN TV Studios near Riverview Plaza!

  • Hey Bert...........hold that Thunderbird for me!

  • Rock bottom prices AND free refreshments! Man, Bert Weinman knew how to treat you right!

  • LOL they screwed up. That green car isn't an LTD, it's a Granada...

  • No, that's an LTD-S (single headlights). 1979-1982. Pretty much same as the LTD Landau 1979-82 (dual headlights), and later on the more known, LTD Crown Victoria 1983-1991. :)

  • @86VickyLX true, the Granada was on the Fox chassis at this point. it was the size of a Fairmont.

  • @86VickyLX Are you sure that the LTD-S is a 1979 and not a 1978 1/2? For what I was told, the LTD-S was available only as a 1978 1/2, and not in the later years.

  • @bigchevy80 No they didn't!
