I, for one, would love to get rid of it. It's a slogan that does not apply to everyone. The first amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". You have the right to believe that a phrase on a coin is the government's way of telling you to worship God. I may or may not be religious, but the money doesn't matter. By the way that phrase is from Thomas Jefferson's writings and has been used by the Supreme Court(the official interpreters of the constitution) to determine intent. Precedent is on my side here.

"We allowed our government to put the phrase on the coin because we trust in God. If "we" decide that is no longer the case, then it should be changed. But I believe that most Americans still have that trust, and you are free to try to change their minds.

Our constitution isn't just what's written on that document and its amendments. It's also 200+ years of legal precedent. That phrase may not appear there, but the Court has certainly upheld that separation is a constitutional facet. Also, many of the members of the Constitutional Congress and early presidents wrote about the need for a separation and how it influenced their decision making. So no, it may not be written on the parchment, but it is a constitutional issue.
