They've done things completely differently here; I've never seen a pair of headphones before that actually put the speakers in the bridge. Electrons move from one state to another without spending time in between. In headphone design speakers did not gradually move from beside the ear to being on top of the head with longer and longer waveguides. Sound wasn't as good cause of lower quality drivers, but they where rock solid build quality.

These might be good soundwise, as example the ROCCAT KAVE owns Creatives Fatal1ty Headset by miles, plus tons of other good 2.0 gaming headsets.

Emulation just doesn't get close to the directional sound.

I can't say how good Psyko Labs are compared to Roccat, one would expect by a lot with the high pricetag, but somehow I doubt.

The sad thing with the current generation of 5.1 headsets is the build quality.

I use a very old (but high end) sound card in my PC: aureal monster sound II 64 bit (4x16 bit decoder, bitches) made by diamond multimedia, everything Gold plated, I mean everything on it is gold plated.

Plus my Sennheiser HD457 Stereo Headphones... I can hear anything with it...

But I am sure I would buy this baby when my set gets really obsolete.

whisp8 obviously has never had a surround setup for his games. If he had he would know the difference. I've been playing for 15 plus years, and there is no comparison to a 2 channel setup. And I suppose Bose was just a gimmick also. Maybe he has a hearing problem.... You might want to get that checked. But you are correct in the fidelity issue, but only if you are listening to audio recorded for just 2 channels. Splitting that to 5 channels sounds bad, but if you use CMSS it helps a lot.

Any 5.1 headset is going to offer a lower level of audio fidelity than comparable 2.0 headset. Gamers... your best bet is to buy a good soundcard that supports the games you play, and a quality 2.0 headset to match it. The soundcard will mix the surround AND music/movies far better then some inline amp like these headphones. You can tell by just looking at the build quality this set's a marketing gimmick. Your not completely correct.

1. Check outputs available on a X-Fi card made for gaming (personally I use Auzen's)

2. Enable 5.1 Surround, most modern games support it fully.

3. Plug in a 5.1 headset with 2 front, 2 left, 2 center and 2 bass speakers, as example the ROCCAT KAVE.

Now compare that to a good 2.0 headset, the 5.1 headset wins at all points.

For music and watching movies you better of with a good quality hifi stereo headset.

X-Fi liscenced cards are not x-fi cards, each can have different inputs depending on who makes them. You can't compare every single soundcard with an x-fi chip as apples to apples.

Of course, it depends a lot on soundcard 5.1 mixing quality too.

The Roccat I got indicates positions more accurate than any 2.0 and usb 5.1 headset in 5.1 games.

I don't find them bad for music or movies either, but good HIFI Stereo headphones are still to prefer.

After what I seen, the Psyko Audio headset is real bad at playing music and movies cause of the speaker positions, something to keep in mind.. after all 300$

@TheChrisJung theres a difference between these speakers, G35 and megaladon only have VIRTUAL surround sound (3d sound) using 2 speakers total. PSYKO is TRUE surround sound, meaning that they're actually real surround sound.

If your looking for good 5.1 headset get Roccat Kave it's made in the UK but there is 2 online stores in the US that sell them. They are the best headsets i have gotten somewhat sound proof too which is great. Better than my old seinheiser and tritton 5.1

The problem with pro Xbox 360 gaming headsets lie with Microsoft as all of the headsets claim to be 'wireless' whereas you still have to plug it into the controller for the chat because Microsoft have the two separated. Meaning that it is Semi-Wireless. These don't look very good for LAN parties as pastasauce mentioned before because the ear cups are open and hollow and conventions are loud so you will be easily distracted.

Most mice with a high price tag are wireless office mice.

I prefer the Microsoft Sidewinder, goes up to 2000DPI, has durable buttons (not like Logitechs crap) and 2 side buttons which I use a lot.

I play best at 2000DPI while other gamers like it lower, so it differs from person to person as well, one size doesn't fit all.

Some Pro gamers use Steelsound 5H V2 or the Creative Fatal1ty Headset, it is not the same though, and some are provided by sponsors so...

@Mineria I own the sidewinder x8, it's terribly heavy and it's mousefeet shake, it also doesn't have an even weight. For a good mouse try razer imperator or steelseries xai. Most mice with a high price tag aren't wireless, infact the majority are heavily marketed wired laser mice, but some are actually good.
