Importing reptiles is NOT to blame for recieving unhealthy animals. It isn't the fault of importation. It's the fault of the person who exported that animal or shipment of animals. Just as if you someone were to ship an animal within the U.S. and you recieve a bad animal. Is shipping the problem? No it's not. It's the shipper's fault for not sending a quality healthy animal.
@dpedwards08 I'm speaking of the inhumane conditions they are shipped in which like you said is the responsibility of the person shipping, not the fact they are being shipped. I don't support wild caught animals that are imported over especially to pet stores who sell to inexperienced people. I understand that some wild specimen need to be imported but they should only be imported to zoos or qualified people looking to start a captive colony of them for the pet trade.
ok cool..thats not that bad. where where can i buy one from? normal pet stores? and what is the average lifespan of one of these guys? thanks for your time bro!
u can get them from pet stores, reptile shows, online and just about anywhere now but i recommend not buying from pet stores and instead buying from a breeder/reptile show they are usually much better quality and cheaper too...average lifespan is 8-12+ years...my friend has one thats 12 years old
thats absolutely horrible. i want a frilled neck lizard. how much money am i looking at spending for a cbb one? i want to make shure that it is cbb. im sorry for your loss. respect.
frilled neck lizard prices have gone down pretty resonably since i got my first one and more and more cbb ones are available than there were when i got my first one so id say you are looking to spend on average $125 and up for one (unless you get a New guinea x Aussie hybrid or a pure aussie)
yea...after going through all of that im 1000000% against the capture and selling of wild caught animals into the pet trade...for them being taken out of the wild for conservation and things like that by professionals is different
even with captive hatched frillies you arent going to get that great of a quality animal...they are significantly healthier compared to a wild caught/imported or farmed but still not the best quality...even in the egg they can come out with parasites and still have very strong natural instincts that will make them more difficult to tame...luckily more and more captive ones are introduced into the hobby so its not so hard to get a good one now
thanx for the comment =] i always comment on good videos....i made this cuz i dont want ppl to get screwed over by ppl like i did nd wind up with a WC/farmed/imported reptile nd havin to go through the heartbreak i did as i had to watch it die =[
yes i have a frilled...both frilled dragons in the video r mine...the WC one passed after i tried saving it but the other one is fat and happy...i got him from a local reptile show
