Don Knotts and Andy Griffith were the best team. They must have had the cast cracking up! Don knotts expressions are priceless. He is so natural and Andy is so cute. I love how he imitates a southern accent. Best TV show EVER! Just wonderful!

What I always think is, why didn't they just let aunt Bee taste one of her own pickles? Then she'd know what to change (e.g. don't use kerosene).

This show always makes me hungry for a pickle! And for the record the Birds story was Andy and Dons favorite episode, the episode where Opie kills the bird with the sling shot, but this is a good episode. Ed Fant Jefferson Texas

I think the person who really makes this episode work is Earle Hagen who did the music. Listen to the way the music accents the characters actions. It is great work.

Andy Opie and Barney go to great lengths and personally suffer to protect the feelings of Aunt Bee and the integrity of the Pickle Contest. This is the best TV show ever and will always be. This is one of my favorite episodes too. Thanks again for putting these up here.

It would have been funny at the end of the episode if Aunt Bee had said to Andy and Barney "I don't know how you can eat those pickles they taste terrible". LOL Since they never told her the truth so not to hurt her feelings.
