That's my dad! Sandra Young.- WOW, way cool Sandra. I'm Jeff, I use to go to a jazz club in New York City Called Eric's on 88th and 2nd Ave in 1979-83 era, to listen to your father play in a Jazz Quartet called US'N (George Young, T or Alto sax/Front man, Rob Mounsey (new to NYC) Keys, Will Lee, Bass and the drummer's name escapes me. They played Friday & Saturday nights. It was common to see people like Red Foxx, Dizzy Gillespie and the like come in to listen to your Father. He is great-BigFan.
If Martan Mann is a "dear friend" a quick phone call will suffice and in no time at all he will be defending you on this message board under the name martanpianomann .
You are right dotdadee to praise such BRILLIANT MUSICIANS. (George Young and Martan Mann)
Unfortunately I notice that there are red thumbs next to your declaration possibly made by people who know that you are only pretending to be a musician .
Hi - I don't know who you are - but, I really appreciate your remarks. I sent them on to George. Incidentally - I agree that George is a "living legend". I'm very fortunate to play with him and to know him.
I reside in Pennsylvania near a small town called Smoke Run. Years ago, my dad played in a polka band and was introduced to an awesome sax player by the name of George Young. The intro. was made by Georges uncle I believe. His name was Steve Pajonk. Anyhow, George sat in with the band for an evening and it was one of the greatest memories my dad has of playing. Just wondering if this could be the same George Young???
Hear hear! George Young is one of those undersung geniuses. He's got such an awesome tone on tenor, and he's very supple on soprano sax as he is here. Those who still don't believe - there's an album of his called "Spring Fever" that is worth checking out. That sort of virtuosity takes more than two years, children.
George - well played. Yr ex-sis-in-law, Lisa
