  • never heard of her before came for a listion ,,great voice

  • search nicolas and the iceni summer's end. they write beautiful english folk music which has echoes of denny and drake.

  • Beautiful!!

  • At her very best for true. Thank you for posting.

  • Classic footage of a wonderful talent

  • Love her voice. Love her music!

  • watch, dont fish and drive!

  • I heard she was dead - after Led Zep IV came out, which she performed on - before I'd consciously heard her on or doing anything. I have made up for that since...first with Fairport Convention's "Liege and Leaf", which I am about to MP3ise from the vinyl, and then alone, via the magic of YouTube. Live on, Sandy....

  • What a great woman she was.

    @PsychLion

    Me too... I am bewitched...

  • For the sake of anyone foolish enough to use it, will you please disable the 'dislike' button on this wonderful performance. I adore this and watch it a lot, and find it completely demoralizing that there are people out there who think they are in a position to offer that opinion. If this should continue I might be forced to hunt those people down and educate them very physically. I miss Sandy Denny too much to forgive them.

  • @APublicDomain Too right, mate. I can only assume that a case of fat finger syndrome caused someone to hit the wrong button by mistake. You'd have to be deaf and blind to dislike this mesmeric performance.

  • @jnewman1723 "Fat finger syndrome"... Well done pal, you've just cheered me up.

  • @APublicDomain Nice one. If I can help somebody as I pass along.....That the remarkable beauty of Sandy's voice continues to stir such deep emotions even after all these years says more about her than words ever could. Gone but not forgotten - A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

  • @APublicDomain Cheer up... only 2 people have pressed it.

That's (so far) 75 times more people who liked it than disliked it, and deservedly so.

  • @thelyniezian That said, it is a wonderful song, and one would be hard pushed to not like it.

  • Essa voz maravilhosa nunca vai se apagar da minha alma, thanxs from Brazil, valeu!!!

  • Short and sweet. Still love Sandy

  • God , she was good.

  • The story, the pathos, the musicianship of one person, I am awestruck.....

  • voice of an angle

  • Wonderful talent.

  • ive got her autograph, made out to me,in sep 75,it says WHISPERED WITH LOVE sandy denny,I WAS 3 MONTHS OLD and my mum got it in edinburgh,on a fairport convention tour.I LOVE THIS VIDEO,there is not much film of sandy!! an amazing singer!!

  • @thesyd1975 Wow, that is so cool!! Something to cherish forever! I have a musical bond with Sandy that is unlike any other. Her voice and music move me. She will ALWAYS be my favorite singer. Can't wait for the new box set. I better start saving my money;)

  • @thesyd1975 Well then.. Happy Birthdy! :P An autograph nowadays seems trivial.. but to have something cool like that from a great of a bygone era is very special.. ur mums well cool!

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Missed the morning too, didn't rise before noon.

    She's a lazy lady today.

Always yawning you, with your eyes on the moon.

You're a crazy lady I'd say, la dum da dum da.

Now should I say more, for I know you so well,

And you're no hazy maiden in grey.

And how can I be sure, it's not easy to tell.

    But you're a crazy lady, I'd say.

    A Crazy lady.

  • A wee gem from a wee gem.

  • Superb.. thanks for posting

  • Enchanting.

  • And so nice to see Sandy relaxed and happy.xx

  • I've never heard such complex, unpredictable vocal progression. She is perfect.

  • ye gods...im verklempt....speechless

  • ye gods...im verklempt....speechless

  • A beautiful lady with a gorgeous voice and a timeless legacy.

Wonderful to see her again and to hear her sing and accompany herself so well on her guitar. She may be gone, but as long as anyone loves folk music, she won't be forgotten. Thanks for the upload.

  • I recall the day she died very well... she fell down a staircase the month before and said she was fine; then had headaches and finally a brain haemorage... similar to Natasha Richardson.... Sandy was so young and so talented

  • @23SarahBeth Brain haemorage, I think. very sad that such a genius died so young.

  • She passed away at just 31? How?

  • @23SarahBeth She tripped on the stairs at a friends house, hit her head.

  • Fantastic. Died too young.

  • i lived that period, i was young, but i remember emotions that are emotions of this moment while i listen the english greatest folksinger

  • Listening to this special song I think Sandy Denny bears a resemblance to Jony Mitchell, don't you think so, too?

  • pure understanding beyond todays folk - Sandy so fiesty in her disposition, was also such a musician - her chords, fingerstyle and creative muse show she was, and is still more than a folk diva by lightyears!

  • Hendrix - 27

  • So many of the young genius taken from us...Sandy Denny-31, Eva Cassidy-33, Janis Joplin-27, Jimi Hendrix-33, Jim Morrison-27, Mama Cass-33, Keitih Green-33, Buddy Holly-23, Stevie Ray Vaughn-36, Patsy Cline-31, Richie Valens-18, Curt Cobain-27, Hank Williams-29, Mozart-35, Laura Branigan-47, Elvis-42 John Lennon-40, Bob Marley-36 and many more.

  • Elvis?

  • Lol, you gave Jimi Hendrix a couple of more years :P he died at the age of 27.

Some of the people on your list seemed to have died at ages that aren't that young. xD

  • I love you Sandy. Your voice will always haunt me.

  • Wow the great Sandy Denny

  • reminds me of Joni Mitchell so much

  • I also think that she might have been the British Joni if she had lived longer.

  • Amazing

  • She's awesome.

  • I agree: perfection! Thank you for posting!

  • Oh . . . perfection.

  • Best thing I've seen on YouTube in months!

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Me too! If camcorders or cells existed back then we'd have alot more Sandy to watch. I guess what little we do have makes it that much more special. From my understanding much Sandy video was either taped over or lost. I'm hoping more pops up someday. The only video of Sandy that exists are the "One in Ten", the two Fotheringay clips, "Solo" from the Fairport documentary which was taken from the 1974 B/W amateur-shot concert which I have in very bad quality. I will check out your demos!

  • Sometime soon I'll be posting a 40 min 1972 concert tape from York UK.....much more enjoyable than I remembered,as Sandy's voice isnt distorted although the guitar and piano sound funny.

  • Very true... I know that she also appeared on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in 1972, performing "It'll Take a Long Time" and "The Lady." Unfortunately, that footage has yet to exist...

  • I keep my fingers crossed that pops up someday...what a treat it would be! I can't believe there is no Sandy interview footage that exists either. There has to be some somewhere! She was pretty well known in England.

  • Actually, there is no footage of Sandy being interviewed. She did do some radio interviews for the BBC. One of them was posted on YouTube. Now it doesn't exists. I love her in-between banter live onstage, especially when she bursts into laughter. All her friends say that that's the one thing that they remember Sandy for: her hearty giggle. I have a demo of "One More Chance" where... I don't know what happened... she burst into laughter before taking the piano... a shame, really...

  • Thanks for your riposte, jt20042. I wholeheartedly appreciate it... God bless The Lady:

"When the music's playing, that's when it changes/ And no longer do we seem like total strangers...."

    Amen...

  • There's a BBC documentary on her. I'd love to see it. Would you know anything about it? I love this clip, she had the voice of an angel.

  • As far as i know it's not for tv it's was a BBC2 Radio documentary...not sure when it was broadcasted...

  • So fine ! I wish cameras had followed her every step of her career.....sigh.

I just posted audio of some rare home demos Sandy made (including "Fotheringay" and "She Moves through the Fair" )
