I heard she was dead - after Led Zep IV came out, which she performed on - before I'd consciously heard her on or doing anything. I have made up for that since...first with Fairport Convention's "Liege and Leaf", which I am about to MP3ise from the vinyl, and then alone, via the magic of YouTube. Live on, Sandy....
For the sake of anyone foolish enough to use it, will you please disable the 'dislike' button on this wonderful performance. I adore this and watch it a lot, and find it completely demoralizing that there are people out there who think they are in a position to offer that opinion. If this should continue I might be forced to hunt those people down and educate them very physically. I miss Sandy Denny too much to forgive them.
@APublicDomain Too right, mate. I can only assume that a case of fat finger syndrome caused someone to hit the wrong button by mistake. You'd have to be deaf and blind to dislike this mesmeric performance.
@APublicDomain Nice one. If I can help somebody as I pass along.....That the remarkable beauty of Sandy's voice continues to stir such deep emotions even after all these years says more about her than words ever could. Gone but not forgotten - A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
ive got her autograph, made out to me,in sep 75,it says WHISPERED WITH LOVE sandy denny,I WAS 3 MONTHS OLD and my mum got it in edinburgh,on a fairport convention tour.I LOVE THIS VIDEO,there is not much film of sandy!! an amazing singer!!
@thesyd1975 Wow, that is so cool!! Something to cherish forever! I have a musical bond with Sandy that is unlike any other. Her voice and music move me. She will ALWAYS be my favorite singer. Can't wait for the new box set. I better start saving my money;)
@thesyd1975 Well then.. Happy Birthdy! :P An autograph nowadays seems trivial.. but to have something cool like that from a great of a bygone era is very special.. ur mums well cool!
A beautiful lady with a gorgeous voice and a timeless legacy.
Wonderful to see her again and to hear her sing and accompany herself so well on her guitar. She may be gone, but as long as anyone loves folk music, she won't be forgotten. Thanks for the upload.
I recall the day she died very well... she fell down a staircase the month before and said she was fine; then had headaches and finally a brain haemorage... similar to Natasha Richardson.... Sandy was so young and so talented
pure understanding beyond todays folk - Sandy so fiesty in her disposition, was also such a musician - her chords, fingerstyle and creative muse show she was, and is still more than a folk diva by lightyears!
So many of the young genius taken from us...Sandy Denny-31, Eva Cassidy-33, Janis Joplin-27, Jimi Hendrix-33, Jim Morrison-27, Mama Cass-33, Keitih Green-33, Buddy Holly-23, Stevie Ray Vaughn-36, Patsy Cline-31, Richie Valens-18, Curt Cobain-27, Hank Williams-29, Mozart-35, Laura Branigan-47, Elvis-42 John Lennon-40, Bob Marley-36 and many more.
Me too! If camcorders or cells existed back then we'd have alot more Sandy to watch. I guess what little we do have makes it that much more special. From my understanding much Sandy video was either taped over or lost. I'm hoping more pops up someday. The only video of Sandy that exists are the "One in Ten", the two Fotheringay clips, "Solo" from the Fairport documentary which was taken from the 1974 B/W amateur-shot concert which I have in very bad quality. I will check out your demos!
Sometime soon I'll be posting a 40 min 1972 concert tape from York UK.....much more enjoyable than I remembered,as Sandy's voice isnt distorted although the guitar and piano sound funny.
Very true... I know that she also appeared on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in 1972, performing "It'll Take a Long Time" and "The Lady." Unfortunately, that footage has yet to exist...
I keep my fingers crossed that pops up someday...what a treat it would be! I can't believe there is no Sandy interview footage that exists either. There has to be some somewhere! She was pretty well known in England.
Actually, there is no footage of Sandy being interviewed. She did do some radio interviews for the BBC. One of them was posted on YouTube. Now it doesn't exists. I love her in-between banter live onstage, especially when she bursts into laughter. All her friends say that that's the one thing that they remember Sandy for: her hearty giggle. I have a demo of "One More Chance" where... I don't know what happened... she burst into laughter before taking the piano... a shame, really...
never heard of her before came for a listion ,,great voice

That's (so far) 75 times more people who liked it than disliked it, and deservedly so.

Missed the morning too, didn't rise before noon.
She's a lazy lady today.
Always yawning you, with your eyes on the moon.
You're a crazy lady I'd say, la dum da dum da.
Now should I say more, for I know you so well,
And you're no hazy maiden in grey.
And how can I be sure, it's not easy to tell.
But you're a crazy lady, I'd say.
A Crazy lady.

Listening to this special song I think Sandy Denny bears a resemblance to Jony Mitchell, don't you think so, too?
