This is BS! Now I agree with the judgement, but I've seen her awarded a Plaintiff vet bills that were more then the price of the dog! She said it best, "the law looks at animals as property".
I've watched her award a Plaintiff 5K in damages, and the dog cost 500.00? I never felt it was right to pay more then the price of the dog, it's just not right!!!
WHY ISN'T THE WIFE OR DAUGHTER PUSHING THEIR DAD/HUSBAND?! He is having so much trouble maneuvering that wheel chair and they're just watching him. They each had a free hand to at least give him a boost. Ugh.
Wow, my 12 year old dog got coccidia and he went from I thought he was going to die (24 hrs. from well to bloody diarrhea; I was actually afraid as I took him to the vet that the vet would want to put him down) and all it cost was the office call, an injection and some oral medication, just a little over $100 bucks, as I recall. He was better in a couple of hours and as far as I could see, well in 24 hours. He lived to be at least 19 and possibly 21 years old (pound adopted)!
what about the potential fact that vulnerability to "contract parasites" is partly due to hereditary which, the defendant is responsible for? That certificate "of the fitness of the dog" is such ambiguous.
our family bought a dog one time with a congenital heart defect that couldn't be fixed. Stupid thing cost thousands of dollars in vet bills, but we loved her anyway. She died after 2 years.
I think people should remember its not where you buy the dog because parasites can be contracted from anywhere. I would imagine that if you buy a dog privately or from a store you would still go to the paces of going to the vet for a checkup and shots.
@ETericET Animal lovers should never buy pets at pet stores. Trust me, none of them treat the dogs well, and that doesn't even consider how the dogs were treated before they came to the pet store. Any breeder who sells to a pet store should never be trusted.
Oh good grief. Armchair lawyers and animal experts on the streets of NY.
The defendant really didn't get it. They have a beautiful dog with no problems because they had her treated not because he sold her in a healthy condition. Ah well, I guess people know now where NOT to go to get their pets.
This is why I get my animals from a shelter.

I know Pet shops are not a good place to buy a dog from, but not all
of them are bad and someone has to give those poor animals a home.
we can't just throw them away because they have the bad luck of
ending up in a pet shop.

Oh the dog seems to be sick from some parasites-thats why it is so thin so maybe they do give the dog enough food.

He knew hypoglyceamia wasn't the illness, just a symptom of a deeper problem. I don't feel much like eating when I'm sick!

Why do poor people buy expensive dogs?
To make them look less poor?
It would be nice if people adopted dogs
from the pound...
so those dogs wouldn't be killed.

@frickadele I got my dog from the shetler and she still cost $250.

She talks about Coccidia like she actually knows what she is, but judging what she's saying she really doesn't

The defendant is a weasel -- who only wants to use the law when it is only on his side. The defendant was totally B.S. and was too easy to tell.
I'm glad the dog is doing OK.
