James Hazeldine (Bayleaf in 'London's Burning) was an excellent actor - but he nbever ever seemed to be young!!!! He always looks late forties - although he obviously isn't here!!
Yes I'd heard that Spielberg is involved, so I anticipate Matthew being a horrible bowl-haired blond Yank brat, who says 'awesome', 'sucks' and 'Mommy do you suppose I'll ever be a regualr kid again?' Also expect lots of pointless plot changes, and dreadful dialogue.
I too loved Chocky as I was between 6-8 at the time. The lad who plays Matthew acts well and you don't feel like throttling him. They don't make programmes like this anymore.
Ooh, there's a huge irony there! The actress who played his sister who asked if there were still windmills appeared in Jonathan Creek years later - in his windmill!

Excellent stuff BackpackCamera, I put a link on to my website WyndhamWeb, which is about John Wyndham, as you may have gathered.

Thanks, I will check that site out. I posted in comments on another of the videos - did you know Spielberg has film rights for the novel?

Good to see that bloke off The Omega Factor finally had a son...weird that the blonde bloke off UFO wants to kidnap him, though... :) Love this show!

I watched (and loved) Chocky from what was Czechoslovak Socialist Republic at that time.
I agree that there is a certain trend in movies - away from certain qualities to easier consumption.
