  • 1:00 woo! dancin' flower...

  • The fact that this is on Jaguar but not N64 is like a punch in the stomach to me.

  • This actually made it to the fucking Jaguar? What a disgrace.

  • The graphics looks more detailed and smoother on this version, but the MP3 sound files used in the Playstation version is superior to this. I also miss the "Yeah!!" sound Rayman says when he completes a stage... Also more realistic sound effects in the PSX version. Not complaining, just tellin'.

  • The PS1 version does not look better, sunshine.

Have a look at them running next to each other. The PS1 version is a port of the Jaguar game and it has HALF the colour pallet for starters.

  • I thought the PSone version was ported from the Saturn version, which was definitely developed individually, 2D games was one of the few things that wasn't a pain in the arse on the Sega Saturn. This version looks pretty impressive considering its on a cartridge though. PSone's version is perfectly acceptable, but Saturn's still reigns supreme atm.

  • I just bought the PS1 version on amazon, its not like its different is it? how much if so?

  • it has way better music and the sounds are better too

  • the graphics look better on the ps1 version too

  • Could someone post a video with all the Jaguar version music? I can't find one anywhere.

  • Plus, where did you get the music in this video? There are no sound effects, so do you have a sound file?

  • For those of you who haven't played the Jag version, it does actually have sound effects. For some reason this video was apparently recorded with them muted.

  • Actually it's weird but sometimes the sound effects don't play on my Rayman cart either... The Jag is/was notorious for having in-game sound problems. Probably is some kind of bug.

  • It might be my "ghetto jag." It seems it has some difficulty with audio sometimes. One of these days I'll re-record a video with my other jag to replace this one.

  • I've had instances of my copy of Rayman only playing the sounds effects and not the music... hummm..

  • @viMasterJag Sometimes people forget that volume settings are saved on the game cart, so if someone who played before you (or you forgot, yourself), and lowered the sfx volume, you could have these results. Music and sfx volume can be set independently by pushing pause and option (as I recall).

  • Rayman JAGUAR (JAG) Longplay NEEDS

    RAYMAN JAGUAR Version

    ALLWORLD walkthrough NEEDS

  • At 1:55, that vine doesn't exist in the PS1 version

  • Wow ! The sounds on the Jaguar version are just ugly... It sounds like a Megadrive game...

The sounds on the other versions are sooooo much better.

I've seen that there is na exclusive minigame in this version. What must we do in this minigame ?

  • That is youtube audio you're listening to.

The audio on the Jaguar is fantastic.

  • @viMasterJag i played the real Jaguar version and music is crap compared to PC/PS1

  • @Dinofan137 sounds more like old school 16 bit midi soundcard style. think doom or wolfenstein for pc when it came out, almost to that quality of music (limited synthed instruments) better then genesis / mega drive by far, which was mono tone just like nes

  • @Dinofan137 the jag had some great soundtracks for its games

  • looks exactly like the original

  • *Sigh* I wish someone would do a complete walkthrough of this version...

  • Let's not forget the PC version also had intro.

In three languages the player can choose.

  • All versions of the original Rayman, starting with the worst:GBA, GBC, Jag, PC, PS1, Saturn.

That's really the way it is, like it or not.

  • This was the best Jaguar game by far, nope SkyHammer could only dream it was good, that game was badass

  • rayman jaguar PICTURE CITY gameplay video make me

  • Could you explain how?

  • Better controller without a doubt.

  • You have used a Jag controller, though, right?

Just wanted to be sure, because there are plenty of people who think it's just fine and have no issues with it whatsoever.

    I'm one of those people.

There's nothing wrong with the controller. It's perfectly comfortable for me.

  • I have no problem with the controller but i just think that the PS1 controller is much more comfortable.

  • Ah ok. I haven't played much PS1 really.

I wasn't knocking it, either... just making sure :)

  • Does the JAG version of Rayman have the intro?

  • I mean the intro seen in the PS1/SAT version?

  • It's on a cartridge, so there's only a static intro with pictures and text.

  • You mean like the GBA version?

  • Well, the GBA one actually had a little bit of animation in it's intro. The Jag's is entirely static.

  • Seriously? The saturn version has movement for the intro.

  • That's partly because the saturn can actually use video, and it's CD roms can actually store it.

  • And, of course, a moving intro (or lack thereof) does not really make a game better or worse ;)

  • Could you put up videos of the breakout minigame? The modified Moskito level? All the other levels that were modified or removed in later versions of the game?

  • once I get all the jag games up, I'll definitely work on that.

  • my cat's breath smells like cat food.

  • I remember the Rayman for Atari Jaguar voted as the best version. And little worse the saturn version because not much colors in game.

  • That's what I thought, too.

Maybe that was before the Playstation's time?

I'm not sure. I'd have to re-check my facts.

  • Yes is before from playstation version.

First time release it was on Jaguar^^

  • This version of Rayman shure is nice. But the one that was made for PSX, I mean, the difference is HUGE. The playstation version is by far my favorite, as well as being more technically advanced, even though that is not the most important aspect.

  • I feel that the Saturn version was the best, most likely due to the improved graphics and sound. I think this is impressive too.

  • Was this video taken with an emulator or with an actual console?

  • With an actual console through a video capture card, but youtube unfortunately compresses the video too much :-/

  • huh...looks almost like it's a flash game for some reason...cool though. Was the Atari Jaguar released around the PS1/N64 era??

  • Yeah, it's a really great and beautiful-looking game. The animation is fantastic, too.

The Jaguar was released in limited fashion in 1993 and then to a wider audience early 1994.

The PS1 was a few years after the release.

  • That's weird, my Rayman cart would also sometimes not play the sound effects. I wonder if you bought my cart? :P

  • Hmm, I didn't even notice.

I'm sure I heard the sounds at one point. Crazy that they're not there. Oh well.

  • When my Rayman cart didn't play sounds, but just played the music, I'd take it out and re-insert it nice and firmly. Usually that did the trick. :P

  • I don't think the SNES could even handle the amount of colors.

  • Could SNES handle these grafix?

  • It would probably require the Super FX 1 or 2.
