@tinytim17 you could start with the second water, and then place the reed. It will be possible do to the same flowing water glitch used to reset the floodgate.
@tinytim17 at 1:57, you place a second water source block on top of the first, then replace the bottom one with stone. I was saying that the first isn't necessary if you place the reed AFTER the water, instead of before.
In other words, build it as normal, but without any water or reed. then add the water, followed by the reed. It will be possible to place the reed on the dirt after the water flows down the other side of it.
I now it is cool but what is the point of making it

why do you need to cover up the original water? couldn't you just have covered that up to begin with?

@halo41293 No, if you cover up the original water you can not place the reed. This leads to issues with the water flowing while you are still working
