  • About 3 years ago, I heard this youtube video and was first introduced to Saul Williams. Thank you for posting this. You actually changed my life.

  • 2 people are racist

  • Where and when did this take place?

  • is this a poem? how is it called?

if anyone can link some lyrics it would be awesome :B

  • @DeadNorogh It looks like he's just... Reading newspaper.

  • I'm pretty sure Saul & Serji met through their mutual association with Ken Wilber.

  • how in the fuck did these three ever get together, and why have I never heard it before, and why is this not on an album.

  • is he reading the newspaper and taking clips of phrases and turning it into an improv rap? that is sssiiiicccckkkkk

  • did I just hear the camerman say "one song and were out of here"

  • Is it possible that I get the words for this? If so, how do I go about seraching for them?

  • @xXElMananaXx Hey dude, it sounds like the lyrics are pretty basic. He read some headlines from a New York Times and then read an article on terrorism and the patriot act. He followed it up with Not in Our Name, after a bit of a New York Times and White Collar Crimes mantra. Doesn't sound like he did any freestyling... just a poetic reading of propaganda.

  • "one song and then we're out of here" dude. you saw this trifecta of the most epic proportions and you're ready to leave after one song?!

  • this is making me SO. HAPPY. RIGHT. NOW.

  • this video made my dreams come true.

  • i luv this stuff! who was on the keyboard? =)

  • badass poetry. very sick very very sick....very sick

  • I'm have that book of poetry he reads from. It's a pretty awesome anthology, with audio cd's of a lot of the poets themselves reciting poetry.

  • This is like some crazy, fucked up,AWESOME shit from the bizzaro universe.

  • ''new york times-white collar crimes'

    I like it!

  • my 3 favorite people!

  • this is incredible. i have seen it about 376 times...

  • Forget Them Crooked Vultures, this is what a supergroup looks like!

I love the dakr atmosphere and imagerry it stirs up. Leaves a great lasting imperession.

  • i think the general consensus on them crooked vultures is they suck donkey balls like no other band in history

  • umbrellaseance youtube guy with the most views on youtube em saul williams little brother hes nice

750 million on his old vid he has 3 new ones

  • The poem from the book is Howl by Allen Ginsberg. At least at the beginning, it's hard to understand everything.

  • when he was reading from the big poetry book which was prob several diff peoples works in. it sounded like something from hunter thompson.. either way amazing improv

  • what's that book he's reading from after the Times ?

  • He's reading a Chomsky book

  • fag'

  • rage against the new york times....

  • that would be a great name for a band

  • for those wondering:

Saul Williams, Zack de la Rocha, Serj Tankian & Money Mark - improvisation (live at the Troubadour 9-11-03)

  • it's called new york times, it's up at the top :)

  • I guess the keyboard player doesn't have a name or don't count for some reason??!?

  • hahah xD

  • who is playing keyboards though is what i'm wondering. he's the one who is doing most of the changes

  • money mark on keys

  • this band would be so politically conscious they'd make public enemy look like lil wayne!

  • @mindbocks lulz

  • niiiiiiiiiiice!

  • epic

  • Fuck me.

    This is good.

  • wow...awesome

  • I would pay for a CD like this.

  • haha serj and zach oooh yeahh!

  • fuck that, how about saul williams.

  • What do you mean? Excuse me if I didn't read between the lines. I'm just one of those who don't bow down to all the lies.

Sorry, man, I know what you mean, I just tried to make it rhyme. I think I don't read enough New York Times. (My colours crime).

But we can change that, I mean who really believes in the powers that be? You? I mean come on, dude, you can do so much better than me!

To be continued... (I'm as drunk as motherfuckers spins funk!...)

  • Is this available anywhere in a higher quality?

  • Zack can sing (One Day as a lion), rap (Rage), scream (inside out, rage), play keybpard (One day as a lion), play guitar (Juvenile expression, farside), bass (hardstance), AND play drums on this one. VERY creative man!

Also, very cool what they are playing without a bassist

  • cool vid.

  • very creative :D

  • Yeah, they are playing eith just guitar, vocals, drums, keyboard. No Bass/rhythm!

  • That isn't exactly new or special.

  • Gr8 video!

  • This was a private show at the Troubadour (Hollywood) on Sept. 11th... I can't remember the year...maybe 2006? I was there and it was amazing. Money Mark was on Keyboards as well. Saul read from the front page of the newpaper and made it poetic...really special moment in my life to watch.

  • Was it in 2003? I saw it in 2003.

  • serj and saul..<3

    when was this?

  • That is quite a rare video you've got here. Thank you for sharing.
