  • I am soooo tired of the novice critics on YouTube. If you don't like something, then don't listen to it again and move on. I know who Renee Fleming is and I know she makes money as a singer. I doubt the same can be said of those making negative comments about her voice.

  • A beautiful person both inside and out, Renee has become the staple of what a gifted performer should sound like; So reminiscent of Callas, Sutherland, Nilsson Price, Norman, etc.

  • @wTrevorh She isn't reminiscent of Callas, Sutherland, Nilsson, Price. All these great sopranos had BIGGER voices than Fleming, and sang more roles than her. Fleming can't sing Tosca, Aida, Brunnhilde, Isolde, Norma, Turandot. She's only a lyric soprano whose specialty is Mozart, Strauss lieder & bel canto (and not all bel canto either) she can't sing Norma the greatest bel canto role, she never even sang a whole Lucia. She's in her 50's now and will soon retire. Her voice can't last forever.

  • Nicely explained!

  • @OperaMystery80 Nonsense!

  • @OperaMystery80, ABSOLUTELY terrible thing to say about one of our finer opera singers. You sound like a total elitist and an overly crude traditionalist! You seriously should try to embrace the reality of opera's future.

  • @wTrevorh It's a free country and I have the right to express my opinion. I'm a Fleming fan, but of her singing 16 years ago. She has become full of herself and a diva in a negative sense. She seems to want to top every legendary soprano Callas, Sutherland, Price, etc. The age of great singing is over, all we have now are second-rate vainglorious singers singing repertoires they shouldn't touch. All the good ones are dead: Callas, Tebaldi, Nilsson, Sutherland, Sills, Pavarotti, Moffo etc

  • It can't be 1984; what did you mean?

  • @sairamnagarajan I thinkit means that she was awarded the grant in 1984

  • @jorgepda no, she went to Germany in '84 :)

  • Thanks for posting this video. Renee Fleming is inspiring in so many remarkable ways.
