  • From what I've read, it was written for Meatloaf, but his producers didn't want to pay Steinman for the song.

  • lmfao

  • He is NOT Meat Loaf ! Rory Dodd - cori or

    Eric Troyer - cori

  • "NO"

  • beautiful song and music.still the classic.

  • Meat Loaf was to have this song and Making Love Out of Nothing at All on an album. The rocket scientist executives at his record label balked at paying Steinman for the songs. Hopefully they are somewhere asking if folks want fries to go with their burgers now. Worked out good for Tyler and Air Supply.

  • Bonnie Tyler s classic. It was No. 1 even here in Brazil. A great song performed by this epic rock n roll voice. Yeah! Bonnie is Heavy metal for sure.

  • the original is the best where is it

  • it is bonnie tyler and meatloaf its his band and backing vocals you idiots

  • @dreamslayer007 meatloaf sorry did not do backing vocals on this, read sleeve notes of albums before you call anyone an idiot,it was eric troyer

  • change the damned caption, it isn't meatloaf!

  • OH YEAH

  • @depo983 A dire la verità... me la messa in mente quella scena... che ho visto per sbaglio su youtube di romanzo criminale... anche se non lo seguo...

  • Fantastica!!!

  • no es Meat Loaf ,

  • Love that video, a Jim Steinman masterpiece, but there was no MEAT in this video. Meatloaf had no involvement in THIS video.

  • He wanted to sing it but his record company refused to pay Steinman

  • WOW! MTV.... been a while!

  • Meatloaf rules...

  • @Bntnredsox Indeed he does!

  • When they did this i cried. No one can truly pull this song off but the original

  • nooo no no no. Steinman wrote it for Meatloaf but this was the point in their carreer when meatloaf's record company wouldn't pay for steinmans songrwritings so he sold it to bonnie tyler instead.

they then got back together and now they work together again last time i checked

  • That's not MeatLoafs backup vocals its Steinmans.

  • this was our senior song CHS class of 2000 baby!!!!!!!!

  • the story is that steinman wrote it for meatloaf but after bat 1 and the tour meatloaf really hurt his voice and couldnt talk let alone sing so he said give it to bonnie cause meatloaf and her were good mates

  • @MrRIckmassey Probably worked out for the best, anyway. This song has always seemed more appropriate for a female singer, even if it was written by a man.

  • Here is the answear who it is from wikipedia.

Rory Dodd (b. Port Dover, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian rock vocalist who has performed many songs written by Jim Steinman. He is probably best known for singing the "Turn around, bright eyes" lyrics on Bonnie Tyler's version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

  • Meat Loaf has nothing to do in this song.............author / producer Jim Steinman made the song and Bonnie Tyler sang it but not, in any circumstances, with Michael Lee Aday(aka Meat Loaf)

  • Is that hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry?

  • i thought meat loaf was the male singer in this but i guess not ... :S

oh well bonnie is amazing with a powerful and incredible voice !! and meat loaf is mind blowing !!! i love them both (Y)

  • you're not the only one,, but why would it still be in the name ;) its not him :D

  • I used to think Meatloaf was the male singer on the single and that Bonnie had sung on I'd Do Anything For Love with him again. But later realised that the connection had been the author / producer Jim Steinman. Steinman should write a record for the two of them to sing together.

  • He did. They perform A Kiss Is a Terrible Thing To Waste together in the stage show Whistle Down the Wind. The song features on Meat Loaf's greatest hits album.

  • well, the only conection to meatloaf i see here is the arraanger behind this song and the fact that he arranged most of meatloaf stuff as well. Other than that, it just Bonnie Tyler's mega hit.

  • he wrote music and lyrics as well as helped her career get started

  • this song was intented to be sung by meatloaf (they have a mutual songwriter for much songs), but meatloaf couldn't at that time (had something with his voice...)

then later, they recorded this version together ;)

  • wow, that blew me away.... not what I expected to be honest... the video creeped me out in a good way

  • DarkLordKhaos: I know I agree 100% ;-).

  • Damn...I wish Meat Loaf had done this song, Tyler is fine and all, but Meat Loaf has the most epic voice I've ever heard.

  • @DarkLordKhaos Jim Steinman had originally wrote it for Meat, but he wanted it as a duet. Was the story I heard

  • @phantasmphan I have heard that too, something about a dispute between Steinman and Mr. Loaf. I love the song, just think it's too bad such a dispute kept Loaf from performing it.

  • after freddie mercury, the best in history

  • I love Meat Loaf but he's not the best vice ever.... the best is Freddie Mercury and there's others better like Steven Tyler, Steve Perry...

  • @diegobulsara sorry. As far as gay vocalists go, its Rob Halford for the win.

  • @diegobulsara maybe they were better in their prime but meatloaf can still sing like this, the others dont sound anywhere near as good as they used to

  • this as got to be the best oldest song i know! fab xxx

  • but they never did a duet together...I thought that too but I was wrong...this is rory dodd

  • Why you said never !!!

What can you say about the album 1993 - Meat Loaf & Bonnie Tyler - "Heaven & Hell" ?

  • I can say what has already been mentioned before in these comments: "Heaven and Hell" is a compilation of Bonnie Tyler and Meatloaf songs - they did not record any of it together and they do not appear together on it.

  • That's a compilation of songs, not a collection of duets. None of the tracks feature both vocalists.

  • wikipedia

According to Meat Loaf, Steinman had given the song, along with "Making Love (Out of Nothing At All)," to Meat Loaf for his Midnight at the Lost and Found album. However, Meat Loaf's record company refused to pay for Steinman and he wrote separate songs himself. Steinman's songs were then given to Bonnie Tyler and Air Supply, respectively.[1]

  • bonnie and meatloaf made the album heaven and hell together

  • actually, it is just a compilation of songs of both of them, they didn't record together. maybe they didn't even see each other ;-)

  • After checking it out, I found that a ML backing singer called Rory Dodd sang the backing vocals on this. He's specifically credited with the "Turn around" vocal on the track details as listed on Wikipedia. I know that can be wrong, but I'd put my money on that theory.

  • Didn't Steinman write it for Meat Loaf but he had lost his voice so Bonnie Tyler sang it instead?

  • ye steinman rote all of meat loafs music, meat loaf told him he wanted to sing all his music so they agreed.

  • actually steinman only wrote the songs from the bat albums and a few from meats other albums. the other songs meat has done are written by himself and the neverland express

  • @KronikAlkoholik

no the producers didn't have enough money so they asked him to wrote his own songs for that album and so Jim gave that song to Tyler... at least that is an official explanation...

  • @KronikAlkoholik

No actually this song was supposed to go on the Midnight at the Lost and Found, but Meat's company wouldn't pay Steinman for the songs...

  • @KronikAlkoholik NO...... Jim Steinman who works with Meat Loaf wrote this song and produced the entire album with Bonnie Tyler. I believe Nicki French did a cover of this song back in 95 or 96 I believe. Hope that helps.

  • @KronikAlkoholik basically. steinman wrote for meat loaf and meat loaf was supposed to sing this song but when he lost his voice, jim went to bonnie tyler

  • @KronikAlkoholik no meaqt had his voice when she did this, jim wouldnt give meat loaf this song for legal reasons

  • i love thes song soooo much thats it im addin it to my favrits

  • My favorite song from the 80''s among others but this is the way I was feeling back then.......

  • This is pretty amazing.. =]=P

  • It's an odd thing... Steinman worte it, Bonnie Tyler sings 99% of it and though Meatloaf sings just the "turn around" and some background stuff, this sound is meantioned so often with him. Anyway, great song and great vid, I love it ^^.

  • Well, no.

    It's Rory Dodd!

Meatloaf is a great singer, but he doesn't sing in this song.

  • Is that true that meatloaf sung in this?

  • No, that's meatloaf.

  • yes, meat has nothing to do with is. it's a steinman song :-)

  • not meat loaf in this song
