Ten years from now people will be saying how great the music was back in 2012 and how it sucks in 2022. After you filter out all the junk, there are always a number of great tunes.
Finding it as it gets released is the hard part. For every good tune I come across on youtube, I just got done listenening to a few seconds of crap from a dozen other tunes.
Was really glad to be around during The Police's inception. Having watched them grow into one of Rock & Roll's biggest and best groups ever has been a journey and adventure in acoustic heaven.
The late 90s were a time of huge decline for music in general. There are some bands that surfaced then, and I like some of them, like Coldplay.
However, the rest of the bulk is complete shit. Nothing comes close to great bands like Pink Floyd, Metalica, Sting & The Police, Styx, Guns 'n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few. Most of the "music" today is nothing more than garbage you can grind to.
One of the best Police songs with a touch of Reggae awsome song my favorite of all Police songs...There will never be another group like The Police awesome group thier songs will remain timeless.

i love this song and all classic rock, im only 4 but i hate this generations music, its worthless, and has no meaning, you can hardly like a song, because they are just so dumb, talking about the same things, money, girls, clothes, "hoes", bling, whatever, its all stupid, nothings original anymore, everyone else is just waiting to copy the so called next big thing. seriously i love the music my parents made me listen to as a kid, and i still do, classic rock is the best, nothings like it.
When I was younger and I listened to this band I prayed that they would be around for me to listen to when I got old the way Tony Bennett was around for my parents. Little did I know that this internet thingamabob would preserve those tunes and make them so readily accessible. God is good.

Well I'm fourteen and grew up listening to classics like Springsteen and The Beatles, and the epic music of the 80's, and from this I developed my own personal tastes (The Police, of course, playing a major role). I even bought a record player, and my friends think I'm extremely weird, but who are they to judge? They either listen to horrible heavy metal emo bands, or Disney rejects, or supposedly 'trail-blazing' artists. The trails were blazed YEARS ago, I tell them!
If you'll read my reply to FJCorboMusic below, you'll see that I support your point, but the main thing is that we're all on the right track in terms of musical appreciation. I know it's annoying when adults give out about the so-called 'music' of today, and don't think to ask the intelligent teenagers (i.e. us), but does it really matter what age you are, so long as you can appreciate (which you obviously can) that the 90's and 00's weren't a patch on the 60's - 80's?
@truchebeats1,dam right kid...if you re still a kid...i have all the police album.my number 3 favorite band after the beatles, pink floyd, supertramp being my number 4.
@truchebeats1 then do something , im making a metal band with my mate to bring back the 70s, 80s and 90s and we will be the first non gay metal band of our generation
@truchebeats1 Everything you said on your comment is totally true....I'm 30 years old I love classic rock and bands like "The Police" that was music...
@truchebeats1 Yes I agree, today's music is pretty fukin lame, Best things out there are like korn, papa roach, shit like that still rocks, and has some meaning, as far as rap... KISS MY ASS!!!
@TheCrisco68 korn and meaning? LOLZ they are the same like lady gaga. and rap is just as good as any other genre....but your view on music has been indoctrinated by the big bosses in the world of music just as much as justin bieber or black eyed peas fans have been. wake up and stop bashing genres you dont like just because of what you see on tv....every genre has talent....but you refuse to see those talented individuals just because they dont show them to you.
@truchebeats1 Same here dude. I see no creativity anymore and all the good bands that are still around, suck now. It's sad but at least good stuff survives through masterpieces like this.
@indyfan22k I believe it lasted until 2000. I still see some songs even now that is majorly inspired by 80s music. they're usually just as good.
I recommend watching the movie "Cop Out". I turned on the TV once and there I had a blast with 80s inspired tunes and jingles all over. I think it's an underrated movie. Not jsut because of the music. I guess the music is there thanks to Bruce Wills being the main character. XD
@indyfan22k there's always good music.....its a cycle of bands influencing the next generation, who then make it there own. Music can never die, no idea why youtube is full of people like yourself who want to constantly complain about there being "no good music," or it being dead. Your looking in the wrong places for it homie, like on a police video
@MrBlukron1k You can't imitate legends? Eric burdon from the animals tried to imitate old black blues arists from the south, and the animals made amazing music because of it. Led zeppelin did the same thing as well. Yes you can imitate legends, and there is never going to be a lack of culture and there hasn't been a lack of culture yet in the how many thousands of years that modern people have been around? And you think it's going to start with a single generation of music?
@zosothedestroyer its hard to find culture nowadays when everyday life consists of taking peoples shit and fitting into a programmed society, Either way some people have horrible taste in Music. Theres never gonna be another aerosmith theres never gonna be another Doors, America, the Eagles, Edgar Winters group, Carlos Santana, Kansas, Jefferson Airplane or any bands like Metallica it just wont happen. Whats the last Band that sounded like Classic Rock
@MrBlukron1k haha its called "classic rock" for a reason bud. There's never gonna be another ramones, sex pistols, damned or any original punk band, you wanna know why? Because it was a result of the world in 1979. 2012 isn't 1979, so obviously the music isn't going to be the same. Why do you want bands that all sound the same? And it's funny too that people in the 60's said that about the doors, and Santana, that a lack of culture was bringing down american society
@truchebeats1 thats not entirely true....thats just mtv and stuff.....try your local bar for some real music. there are plenty of musicians out there who make music with the hearth instead of the head
Let them say what they want about The Police and the rest of our classic rock bands that we love, let them listen to what they want that comes out nowadays, if it wasn't for classic rock lovers like us, Glee wouldn't have done their version of Journey's Don't Stop Believing. And I laughed hard at their efforts to try and make a classic song sound like a modern one, they're the kind of people I like to call ripper-offers...
Ten years from now people will be saying how great the music was back in 2012 and how it sucks in 2022. After you filter out all the junk, there are always a number of great tunes.

@truchebeats1 Look harder. There is plenty of good music being done today. Of course, you won't hear it unless you look for it.

@truchebeats1 then do something , im making a metal band with my mate to bring back the 70s, 80s and 90s and we will be the first non gay metal band of our generation
death2innocent 1 year ago
@truchebeats1 im in the same boat as you dude but our generations good music is in the underground.

@truchebeats1 Everything you said on your comment is totally true....I'm 30 years old I love classic rock and bands like "The Police" that was music...
chagy93204 1 year ago
@truchebeats1 Yes I agree, today's music is pretty fukin lame, Best things out there are like korn, papa roach, shit like that still rocks, and has some meaning, as far as rap... KISS MY ASS!!!
TheCrisco68 1 year ago

@truchebeats1
You hit a homerun !!! I was born in 1984. I believe good music died around 1998.
indyfan22k 11 months ago 13
@indyfan22k Wrong. Go back 8 years.
t8mer 9 months ago
@indyfan22k I believe it lasted until 2000. I still see some songs even now that is majorly inspired by 80s music. they're usually just as good.
I recommend watching the movie "Cop Out". I turned on the TV once and there I had a blast with 80s inspired tunes and jingles all over. I think it's an underrated movie. Not jsut because of the music. I guess the music is there thanks to Bruce Wills being the main character. XD
Scourgeandmephiles93 5 months ago
@Scourgeandmephiles93 oh no...those songs "inspired" by the 80s are never as good.
JustABitchyCancer 4 months ago
@indyfan22k that's about exactly when it died.
JustABitchyCancer 4 months ago
@indyfan22k OK Computer came out in '97, and that was the last true genius album, so I think you might be spot on.
RazrHack 3 months ago
@RazrHack Mutations by Beck can't be overlooked. That was '98.
dreekd80 1 month ago
@indyfan22k there's always good music.....its a cycle of bands influencing the next generation, who then make it there own. Music can never die, no idea why youtube is full of people like yourself who want to constantly complain about there being "no good music," or it being dead. Your looking in the wrong places for it homie, like on a police video

@zosothedestroyer you are correct, a good example of this, is the the band Goyte

@Theclassiccarnut no idea why its so difficult for people to get haha

@zosothedestroyer you cant imitate legends homie, and it is inevitable for people to become degenerated from the lack of culture
MrBlukron1k 2 days ago
@MrBlukron1k You can't imitate legends? Eric burdon from the animals tried to imitate old black blues arists from the south, and the animals made amazing music because of it. Led zeppelin did the same thing as well. Yes you can imitate legends, and there is never going to be a lack of culture and there hasn't been a lack of culture yet in the how many thousands of years that modern people have been around? And you think it's going to start with a single generation of music?
zosothedestroyer 2 days ago
@zosothedestroyer its hard to find culture nowadays when everyday life consists of taking peoples shit and fitting into a programmed society, Either way some people have horrible taste in Music. Theres never gonna be another aerosmith theres never gonna be another Doors, America, the Eagles, Edgar Winters group, Carlos Santana, Kansas, Jefferson Airplane or any bands like Metallica it just wont happen. Whats the last Band that sounded like Classic Rock
MrBlukron1k 14 hours ago
@MrBlukron1k haha its called "classic rock" for a reason bud. There's never gonna be another ramones, sex pistols, damned or any original punk band, you wanna know why? Because it was a result of the world in 1979. 2012 isn't 1979, so obviously the music isn't going to be the same. Why do you want bands that all sound the same? And it's funny too that people in the 60's said that about the doors, and Santana, that a lack of culture was bringing down american society
zosothedestroyer 12 hours ago
@truchebeats1 thats not entirely true....thats just mtv and stuff.....try your local bar for some real music. there are plenty of musicians out there who make music with the hearth instead of the head

Let them say what they want about The Police and the rest of our classic rock bands that we love, let them listen to what they want that comes out nowadays, if it wasn't for classic rock lovers like us, Glee wouldn't have done their version of Journey's Don't Stop Believing. And I laughed hard at their efforts to try and make a classic song sound like a modern one, they're the kind of people I like to call ripper-offers...
