thefutureisahead, I totally agree with you!! It must take them hours to come up with songs that would later be so well known such as magnificent and unknown caller :). I love U2 can't wait for Anaheim :).
i really like this and i hope songs of ascent turns out to be something like this. but i understand why they didn´t release it like this,it would be really tough to translate to a live setting. but nloth still a great album with great solid songs.
they actually mentioned it, they might do it this month in fact! its called u2- songs of ascent. they consider it more of an idea then something they would put in motion at the time being, but watch out for it!
okay, on this next album we need stuff like this... Really, we do... That intro to Magnificent would have been up there with one of the greatest things they'd ever released...
Im moroccan and Im a big U2 fan, I wish they could make a jig in the country because there's many many fans waiiting for so long...Bono if u read this :-)
This videos are a jewel. The ALBUM is great. However I would have loved that they could play some random and rough material form these sessions on the album. It sounds awesome...
I do not care about the accusations as long as they are original and as long as they come to India.. Why dont they visit the world's largest democracy? which has 1.6 billion people..???
I do not know why U2 is so amazed about Morocco's music but if they want a different influence they should come to India and experience the variety.. With AR rahman winning 2 oscars for soundtrack in Slumdog millionaire i hope Indian music will be more popular!
Yeah, true. They actually kept some of those notes If you listen to the finished version of Magnificent at the very beggining, the bass intro is the same riff.
I can hear the begginings of "Magnificent" near the end of the jam session. If any of you ever hear the Aghtung Baby stolen tapes from their early Berlin sessions, you'll notice the similarity in the way U2 records their music. They do straight jams and eventually come up with song structures.
fes its best city tradional

They should release a bonus CD with all this rare stuff, I´m so thrilled with the early version of Unknown Caller...such a beautiful song.

The music playing to this video is great. They should've included something like this in the new album.

The beginning of this video sounds a lot like the main guitar riff on Nine Inch Nails "The Hand That Feeds" in my opinion.
mdr9inchnails 3 years ago 4
True, true but since that first piece of music doesn't show up on the album it really doesn't matter

thats why Rubin didn't work out as producer. he wanted them to come in ready with songs that he could rework.
