My life has been much greater and more fulfilling ever since I became an Orthodox Christian. I am a former agnostic. Seeing the beauty and mystery in the world is one reason why I knew God was real. After one of my good atheist friend's committed suicide because he felt life had no meaning, is when I realized that life had to have meaning. The true meaning of life is love. With no God there is no love. Love is real because God is real. Atheism is just a poison that led to the death of my friend.
“Existential nihilism is the belief that life has no intrinsic meaning or value. With respect to the universe, existential nihilism posits that a single human or even the entire human species is insignificant, without purpose and unlikely to change in the totality of existence”- wikipedia. Basicly that life haven't got any meaning other than what you make of it, which isn't good enough for apparently almost the entire human population.
I hate when Creationists say that your life is pointless if we accept that we Evolved "by chance". First thing, Evolution is not by chance, just the opposite, and you don't need to go that far to know your life was by an extremely slim chance. At conception, you out of millions created an embryo to develop. Does that make your life pointless? No, if you want to do something with our life, than it has purpose. Nothing else is relevant.

love you vids and see your point. However i see a bit of hypocrisy when you preach tolerance of religions and then make comments about how believing in a "mythical" being is irresponsible.I love God and give great credit to the divine for creating a BEAUTIFUL world. the truth is at one point everyone thought the earth was flat due to the science of the time so we should all be OPEN to every possibility because in the blink of an eye our whole concept of existence can change that's true tolerance
" However i see a bit of hypocrisy when you preach tolerance of religions and then make comments about how believing in a "mythical" being is irresponsible"
@EncHanTEdAuTUmnMiST "didn't i give exact quotes of what i found hypocritical ?"
Criticism of a religion doesn't mean you're intolerant of a religion. Lacy is right in saying believing in a mythical being is irresponsible.Lacy respects the right to have a religious belief system. Having a right to a belief, however, is not the same as having a right to not hear criticism of that belief. The right to criticize has the same basis as the right to believe. I don't see any hypocrisy on her part.
@EmperorLibertarian people look at things differently and i happen to see what she said as hypocritical. i have a right to the way i look at things and my opinion just as you do, so kindly move on because arguing with someone over their thought process is completely pointless
@EncHanTEdAuTUmnMiST "people look at things differently and i happen to see what she said as hypocritical."
I realize that, and I find what you said to be bogus as I've explained. When you post on youtube you risk the chance of getting a response. If you want to continue to believe she's being hypocritical then ok. You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.
also i find it interesting and.... i believe it to be simply a natural process of understanding, that more and more people like laci and myself, we begin to see beyond ourselves (credits to pictures/videos of the universe, science, technology, etc etc) and begin to understand the systems that makes up the universe, life, and slowly but surely an understanding of our roles as 'discovers' as the 'consciousness' for the universe to understand itself.
This is a prime example of how lost an individual can become when they for their entire lives are exposed only to lies and fall into their sins of the flesh and then despair and then rebel into a worse state to justify themselves and to give their lives meaning and purpose when in reality they are the same as they were in the beginning. Still Lost. Truth does exist and the meaning of our lives can be found you just need to know where to look.
Poor Laci, a childish fool who embraces the self-contradicting myths of empirical epistemology. Unable to empirically demonstrate anything with certainty, she continues to speak about 'knowledge' and 'truth'--LOL! She is doomed to absolute scepticism, unable to even prove the existence of anything, Psalm 14:1. Remember Lacy, when the nihilism is all said and done, God's Law condemns all unbelievers to eternal damnation. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
I'm so extremely pissed of who talk so prouldy about the fear that their religion is spreading. And it makes me so angry when they type "LOL" in the same paragraph.
You are right that there aren't any guarantees. Science has a way of reminding us how small and insignificant humanity is. We are a speck in the universe, heck, we haven't the vaguest knowledge where the universe begins and ends, all we know is the universe is expanding. We can only speculate how large or small things get. The reason we even exist is beyond our minds. To live, and make the best of the things we have is all we have. As long as you know that it's all you need.
If god created this world, then maybe all of the jesus freaks can answer this question. If god created this world and everything on it, what's up with the billions of stars and planets? Why would he need to create all of them. Nature is not god. Nature is what is what created life not a mythical deity that is used to control people, countries and to shape history to benefit itself. You are a part of nature, believe in yourself, not some loving/vengful sky monster demanding your obiedence. Immor
the earth would be a much more beautiful place if it was not tarnished and spoiled by humanity - the most evil, corrupt, hateful, selfish, destructive, unstoppable, malevolent, and above all, foolish race the earth has ever known.
Planets have a lifecyle, like humanity does. Our planet is fortunate. Mars had an even shorter lifespan than the earth. The core of the earth is going to eventually cool, and then the electromagnetic shield will be gone, and the earth will die. By the time this occurs humans will be gone. Watch Saving the Planet, by George Carlin. He did his research on comedy routines. Animals aren't the only things with a shelf life. Even the sun will explode in 5.6 billion years.
i'm not denying it. everything has a beginning and an end. the point i was making was that the human race, as a whole, don't deserve to live. we have caused more damage to the earth and ourselves than all the other races in history put together - and we're supposed to be the intelliegent ones
As a whole the human race doesn't deserve to live? I'll bet you believe you are in the minority that deserves to live, eh? To what ends does believing others don't deserve to live serve? Are you happier? You feel that burden of wishing non existence upon others inside. It weighs you down.
There haven't been any races without war, murder, and destruction. Intelligence provides a different option besides submissive and dominant reactions of "the primal brain". Freedom.
1. i don't count myself among the minority that 'deserve to live'. i am probably as bad as the next person. as much as i don't want to die i can't, on a large scale at least, justify my own existence.
2. i don't wish destruction upon others, but i recognise that many deserve it (including myself). it doesn't make me happy, but it is enlightening, and it brings me acceptance.
3. no other creatures on earth have done as much evil as us. we, as a species, are heartless and blind.
All omnivores and carnivores possess certain instincts. It's called herd mentality. If you desire to live like a deer: 1)buy a cabin in the woods, 2)buy paint thinner and burn out brain, 3) crawl around naked in the woods eating berries and fertilizing the earth.
Set a rational goal for yourself and follow through. Don't just bitch about destroying the earth, give back. If you want to be a sheep, find a way to live like one. It's your philosophy.
i have already said that i am among those who are guilty - i like being 'a' human, but not being human within itself. i cannot become an animal, however much i may resent many aspects of humanity.
besides, if i revert completely to nature, it forgoes any possibliity that i may somehow assist our dying world, and convince others to do the same.
Humans are classified in the animalia kingdom. I sense that you like being human. Why would you want to preserve the earth, if you weren't attempting to preserve yourself? Why wish to change yourself? You are unique. You are a fingerprint. All planets are dying, all species are dying. Humanity is the planet's fertilizer. 98% of all species that existed on the earth disappeared. Our perception is different from reality. We are a reasoning primates. Nothing more, nothing less.
i know we are nothing more than animals, and that extinction is a natural process, but we messed up the earth in the first place, and as the most intelliegent and advances species on the planet, and because its our fault, were are responsible for fixing the damage.
if we don't start using our brains and our eyes, we deserve to become extinct. currently, no other species on the planet is more deserving.
we're quite capable of redeeming ourselves, we're just too lazy.

I agree, Gods creation is mindblowing, even u see and say that.....but we are not to worship the creation but rather the creator. .....we should not embrace natures mysteries, Do you know anything about the dangers of pagan and the occult worship of nature and it's roots? and u say we should embrace it to our souls, i tought atheists didnt beleive in souls.
what "dangers" are these. Worshipping nature is more wholesome because it deals with reality. We have every right to explore nature as god intended when we were risen from the dust.
What do atheist believe of how matter come into existent, before the big bang and pls don give som dumb answer cuz I am pretty science- literate. Why not islam? It agrees with science and there is nothing wrong with it, media as falsely labeled it
well, i cannot speak for all atheists, but i think that the universe we live in is one link in an infinite chain. before our universe there was another, and its destruction provided the energy and matter to create ours. the same will happen at the end of this universe as well
the laws of physics says that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed. this is the only theory i can come up with that completely satisfies that statement
well, the laws of physics state that energy and matter cannot (under any circumstances) be created or destroyed. so it is logical to assume both have always existed...
...more logical, i'd say, than saying God always existed.
does God, the ultimate being, need a creator too? after all, he is so complex and thus couldn't have happened by chance.
I don't understand obsession with Atheism... it posits an eternal negative... that you are the only thing that exists and nothing is beyond the material... How is that positive in any way?
@jukovium Maybe there's a way to have your cake and eat it too... Wouldn't that make you happier than making a false choice between truth and happiness...?
can you get something from nothing? if you go back far enough there was nothing. in order for the first thing rather it be a gas or cell or water ect whatever to be. it had to be created. nothing cant create something. and about god the bible says he always was and will be and until those who chose jesus get to heaven well not fully understand it until then. but you cant get something from nothing, first thing that ever was , was created or nothing would be , all things were created by god
haha you know what I find funny how do you know this is mind blowing I mean you never seen other plannets before so really maybe the sun is a freaking hot place where you can burn away or well Uranus is just a big pool full with vis we never seen

Oh, by the way - your problem is with the Jesus-myth, sand-people god, not the true God. Because this video is all about God. Not the do-what-I-tell-you-to-do god. Not the listen-to-the-village-elders god. But GOD... God is all of us. God is science. God is mystery and magic and anything not soiled by the lies told by men.
God is the music, and the love, and the life... and none of us know God except by living life to the fullest. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
The very core of our being is LOVE! What does ALL science rely on. The intelligibility of the world! Being is intelligible! Therefore when we find a truth we have to think it again(re - cognize) We think it again because its been loved into existance by God. He didn't need the world but has willed it into existance.
@AdmiralThrawn000 Your right, lets thank the Catholic Church, for a good organic natural spread of HIV and the death of millions on their hands, simply because they at deluded enough to believe they have the moral high ground - how ironic!
Where the hubble photos(orion nebula is fked up), nothing is too big for us homosapians, i live in the eternal world Idea's so hopefully that will live on for me :)
WOW! ur completely right this world is so beautiful and so amazing. Look AT ALL THOSE THINGS UR PUTTING DOWN AND SHOWING US. ITS COMPLETELY AMAZING HOW CAN U BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NOO CREATOR?? WHAT DID ME COME FROM FREAKING APES? AND IM NOT GOING TO GIVE MOTHER NATURE THE CREDIT BECAUSE THE REAL CREDIT GOES TO GOD THE REAL CREATOR OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PLANET AND THIS WONDERFUL LAND WE CALL HOMEEE
@Popikawaii its "meet your" since what you are literally saying is that she made God or whatever you want to call creator...unless thats what you're after
Just like a Stone proves a stone making designer and a waterfall proves a waterfall creating designer.... of course... they have to be designed...
Ok, even if I toke on the assumption there had to be a designer, at what point did we come to the conclusion that the "designer" is actually intelligent? We could infer that nature is a rather unintelligent designer but far more complex then just the Earth. But no, I don't buy into the watch maker argument, not even for a second.
it is really funny to hear the atheists, you clearly have just enough education to be misinformed but not enough to realize the complexity of the world. obviously there is evolution it is all around us, but maybe just maybe there is a plan involved. It will be fun to see when the LHC data is examined and those few basic elements are finally found. if there are responses to this i may or may not respond but think out it
you're attacking atheists and responding with "maybe i'm right"? well yeah maybe you are, but it definitely doesn't look like it. better back your statements up when you accuse people of being misinformed.
first off where did i say "maybe i'm right"?? at no point did i say that. where i did say maybe just maybe there is a plan involved was sarcasm because it is obvious there is a master plan at work here. for a clear explanation why an atheist view is misinformed it would require many books, but here is a little tid bit and maybe you can google for a little more info if you dont understand.
If the forces in the universe were diferent our way of being would not exist, atoms may not exist, with out atoms we all obviously wouldnt exist, at least in a force we could recognize. The forces i am talking about if you dont know are strong nuclear, electromagnetic, weak nuclear, and gravity, which are in order of strongest to weakest forces.
so cocky webmaster2089 are you a first or second year philosophy major. also why not put some of your ideas down here instead of asking everyone else to provide information. you probably just go around to post like this and add no content and couldnt have a real argument.
third year physics, actually, but with a philosophy minor so you were pretty close. So i know all about the fundamental forces.
In response to your last comment i'm not submitting my own ideas because i'm arguing as an atheist, and that's not what atheism does. It's purely a rejection of belief in god, to go any further would be something else than atheism. If you want to know what i think then sure, but it probably won't be too relevant to that end.
i hardly believe you understand the fundamental forces, especially gravity. which if you had taken an advanced physics course you would understand how little is know about it.
how can rejection be anything but an option that makes you feel better, a cop out. i agree that there is not a perfect or 100% correct religion, everyone should know that, but to say straight up there is not god, you are only fooling yourself. if you really are a physics major you should understand that the impossible
as for your what "if things were different, they'd be different" umm back to the basics without and atom you and i wouldnt be here and the fundamental forces keep an atom together.
As you go along and take more and more classes in physics things will be more apparent to you that they are not merely random.
so far all you have learned is a few force diagrams, some simple formulas and a few basic laws for our universe.
whoa, whoa, i said 3rd year, meaning 2 years of basic in high school, modern physics, advanced E&M, optics, etc. I know that little is known about gravity, and i have learned (and beyond that i firmly believe) that there is much less randomness than there appears to be. So don't just assume i don't know things before you ask me about them.
Anyway to the point of the rejection of god, there is absolutely no conclusive evidence for a god's existence, and beyond that the christian idea of god...
that i'm familiar with just makes no sense and is full of contradictions. therefore, (by occam's razor mostly) the best conclusion is to reject all that. basically what i mean is why should i believe? it's your idea so it's your job to convince me, not my job to convince myself otherwise, and nothing's been convincing.
and about the fundamental forces, your point has nothing to do with this discussion. why did you bring that up?
occam's razor is not to reject but rather the simplest explaination is usually correct. i content that a god with a design in mind is much simpler than random events.
as for the christian idea of god i never said anything about that. although i did say i dont believe there is a perfect religion.
2 years of high school anything can be thrown out as trival, and only 5 semesters in college you are just barely breaking the surface.
but give a reason or arguement, i dont have time or the desire to argue with someone with enough knowledge to think you are smart but not enough to understand how much you dont understand. hopefully you will learn that by the time you graduate, it is an important lesson.
as for the fundemental forces a physics major should understand the importance of that if anyone is going to. come on the obviousness of that is to ridiculous to explain.
doesn't seem like you could care less, you know, with all the comments
and of course i'm not saying i know everything there is to know about physics, or even much at all, but still more than the average person.
anyway, occam's razor. take this for example. either 1) god has existed forever and created the universe, or 2) the universe has existed forever. 2 is much simpler. basically whenever you cut god out of the equation things get easier, so occam's razor eliminates all that
yes, i know the importance of the fundamental forces, they hold everything together, etc, etc. but when did this become a physics discussion? you just brought that up for no reason.
why do you keep insisting i don't know things when clearly i do know them. I don't know everything but i don't have to. I know enough to argue effectively.
speaking of which i have yet to see an actual argument from you, just insistence that you're right. so if you'd care to make one go ahead.
Yes, this is our Earth. God's beautiful creation a gift to man kind. It's amusing to see how glorious this earth is with it's abundance and distinct order...and yet many DENY the one who created it. Seek the true knowledge of God and have ETERNAL life in HIM. Yes, this life will pass...this earth will pass as well. But your souls are eternal. Give GOD the credit for this Earth...His creation! Accept that there is an eternal life and this is your one chance to accept Jesus..before it's too late.
As an atheist, I question the validity of the claim that the world was 'created' at all. I don't think it was created, it most likely EVOLVED. A God is not needed in nature. The only thing needed in nature is...the natural.
Please read genesis and ask yourself does this really make sense? Is this really plausible? Try to think for yourself with an open mind. How can you really be so sure that an old book contains the word of god besides it's what you have been told your whole life. Just because it's the accepted truth in your social circles doesn't make it so. Most people used to think the earth was flat that didn't make it true though.
So, I'm assuming that your children came from god and not from you and your spouse? So, the two of you had nothing to do with it?
You're the same type that would credit god for saving a plane full of people before crediting the pilot's skill.
Shame on you! For those that cannot see the beauty in the randomness of the universe, I bid farewell to your brains, cause you apparently don't use it to 'think'.
FYI, if there were a god, he'd love thinkers more.
@supermanlives1973 We are uninvited into a life and an exsistents, For me giving credit to a loving creator of my understanding, makes sence. For you does not. So who's right, I say we both are. Science gives more magistracy to Gods creation, because we can appreciate it that much deeper. Out of absolute nothingness we just came alive, that proves to me that God isn't a fare stretch of the imagination, while others it is. For me humility is key, I was much more intelligent at 5 than 25.
I was raised Mormon, and 'mainstream' xtians say, "Well, no wonder," as if that explains why I left church for atheism. They couldn't be more wrong, of course. I was baptised at 8 and everything... never felt a thing. Anyway, you're not alone. Keep on truckin'
Regarding your atheism vids... yes, time to move on. Time to EVOLVE. Time for TRANSHUMANISM!
Remember, folks, atheism is only entry level rationalism. There's a whole secular universe out there that needs to be explored. Go forth and educate youselves!
Nice video, but it glosses over the harsh realities of life on this planet. Disease, aging, death. The neverending struggle for resources and social status. Also, while we certainly should try to make the most of the present, we should also focus on the future. Don't accept your mortality and the tyranny of the natural order, RESIST! Technology can set us free, let's give it the respect and support it deserves!
That which is false can only survive in the darkness and will wither in the light. 50 years from now ask the same question.

38. Then he became an ‘Alaqah (a clot); then (Allâh) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion.[2]
39. And made of him two sexes, male and female.

EmperorLibertarian 9 months ago
@EmperorLibertarian people look at things differently and i happen to see what she said as hypocritical. i have a right to the way i look at things and my opinion just as you do, so kindly move on because arguing with someone over their thought process is completely pointless

I realize that, and I find what you said to be bogus as I've explained. When you post on youtube you risk the chance of getting a response. If you want to continue to believe she's being hypocritical then ok. You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.
EmperorLibertarian 9 months ago
also i find it interesting and.... i believe it to be simply a natural process of understanding, that more and more people like laci and myself, we begin to see beyond ourselves (credits to pictures/videos of the universe, science, technology, etc etc) and begin to understand the systems that makes up the universe, life, and slowly but surely an understanding of our roles as 'discovers' as the 'consciousness' for the universe to understand itself.

Ah, the mythology of atheism...LOL!

Immor

@riverlioness
i'm not denying it. everything has a beginning and an end. the point i was making was that the human race, as a whole, don't deserve to live. we have caused more damage to the earth and ourselves than all the other races in history put together - and we're supposed to be the intelliegent ones
Grymbaldknight 1 year ago
@Grymbaldknight
Freedom.
riverlioness 1 year ago
@riverlioness
1. i don't count myself among the minority that 'deserve to live'. i am probably as bad as the next person. as much as i don't want to die i can't, on a large scale at least, justify my own existence.
2. i don't wish destruction upon others, but i recognise that many deserve it (including myself). it doesn't make me happy, but it is enlightening, and it brings me acceptance.
3. no other creatures on earth have done as much evil as us. we, as a species, are heartless and blind.
Grymbaldknight 1 year ago
@Grymbaldknight
It's your philosophy.
riverlioness 1 year ago
@riverlioness
i have already said that i am among those who are guilty - i like being 'a' human, but not being human within itself. i cannot become an animal, however much i may resent many aspects of humanity.
besides, if i revert completely to nature, it forgoes any possibliity that i may somehow assist our dying world, and convince others to do the same.
THIS is my philosophy.
Grymbaldknight 1 year ago
@Grymbaldknight
Nothing more, nothing less.
riverlioness 1 year ago
@riverlioness
i know we are nothing more than animals, and that extinction is a natural process, but we messed up the earth in the first place, and as the most intelliegent and advances species on the planet, and because its our fault, were are responsible for fixing the damage.
if we don't start using our brains and our eyes, we deserve to become extinct. currently, no other species on the planet is more deserving.
we're quite capable of redeeming ourselves, we're just too lazy.

What do atheist believe of how matter come into existent, before the big bang and pls don give som dumb answer cuz I am pretty science- literate. Why not islam? It agrees with science and there is nothing wrong with it, media as falsely labeled it
hannanfayaz 1 year ago
@hannanfayaz
well, i cannot speak for all atheists, but i think that the universe we live in is one link in an infinite chain. before our universe there was another, and its destruction provided the energy and matter to create ours. the same will happen at the end of this universe as well
the laws of physics says that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed. this is the only theory i can come up with that completely satisfies that statement
and yes, the media is cruel to islam
Grymbaldknight 1 year ago
@Grymbaldknight ya but UR theory assumes that there was energy to begin with. Im speaking of how matter or energy came into existance
hannanfayaz 1 year ago
@hannanfayaz
well, the laws of physics state that energy and matter cannot (under any circumstances) be created or destroyed. so it is logical to assume both have always existed...
...more logical, i'd say, than saying God always existed.
does God, the ultimate being, need a creator too? after all, he is so complex and thus couldn't have happened by chance.

how could any one not see the complexity in this earth?
the earth is so pretty, and it all came from a ransom accedent..... a design prooves a designer, plain and simple
ninjafacationism 2 years ago
Just like a Stone proves a stone making designer and a waterfall proves a waterfall creating designer.... of course... they have to be designed...
Ok, even if I toke on the assumption there had to be a designer, at what point did we come to the conclusion that the "designer" is actually intelligent? We could infer that nature is a rather unintelligent designer but far more complex then just the Earth. But no, I don't buy into the watch maker argument, not even for a second.
DoomsdayR3sistance 2 years ago
This argument is invalid because you're changing the definition in your premises and your conclusion.
something that is designed must have a designer... for the sake of argument sure, let's accept that definition
the earth is designed... no. for you to say this you would have to first prove there was a designer which you haven't done.
you're basically arguing something assuming you already know the conclusion, which obviously simply doesn't work.

it is really funny to hear the atheists, you clearly have just enough education to be misinformed but not enough to realize the complexity of the world. obviously there is evolution it is all around us, but maybe just maybe there is a plan involved. It will be fun to see when the LHC data is examined and those few basic elements are finally found. if there are responses to this i may or may not respond but think out it
ook1231 2 years ago
you're attacking atheists and responding with "maybe i'm right"? well yeah maybe you are, but it definitely doesn't look like it. better back your statements up when you accuse people of being misinformed.
webmaster2089 2 years ago
first off where did i say "maybe i'm right"?? at no point did i say that. where i did say maybe just maybe there is a plan involved was sarcasm because it is obvious there is a master plan at work here. for a clear explanation why an atheist view is misinformed it would require many books, but here is a little tid bit and maybe you can google for a little more info if you dont understand.
ook1231 2 years ago
If the forces in the universe were diferent our way of being would not exist, atoms may not exist, with out atoms we all obviously wouldnt exist, at least in a force we could recognize. The forces i am talking about if you dont know are strong nuclear, electromagnetic, weak nuclear, and gravity, which are in order of strongest to weakest forces.
ook1231 2 years ago
so cocky webmaster2089 are you a first or second year philosophy major. also why not put some of your ideas down here instead of asking everyone else to provide information. you probably just go around to post like this and add no content and couldnt have a real argument.
ook1231 2 years ago
third year physics, actually, but with a philosophy minor so you were pretty close. So i know all about the fundamental forces.
In response to your last comment i'm not submitting my own ideas because i'm arguing as an atheist, and that's not what atheism does. It's purely a rejection of belief in god, to go any further would be something else than atheism. If you want to know what i think then sure, but it probably won't be too relevant to that end.
webmaster2089 2 years ago
and about the fundamental forces, so what? what does that prove other than "if things were different, they'd be different"?
webmaster2089 2 years ago
i hardly believe you understand the fundamental forces, especially gravity. which if you had taken an advanced physics course you would understand how little is know about it.
how can rejection be anything but an option that makes you feel better, a cop out. i agree that there is not a perfect or 100% correct religion, everyone should know that, but to say straight up there is not god, you are only fooling yourself. if you really are a physics major you should understand that the impossible
ook1231 2 years ago
is possible.
as for your what "if things were different, they'd be different" umm back to the basics without and atom you and i wouldnt be here and the fundamental forces keep an atom together.
As you go along and take more and more classes in physics things will be more apparent to you that they are not merely random.
so far all you have learned is a few force diagrams, some simple formulas and a few basic laws for our universe.
ook1231 2 years ago
so how did you come to the conclusion that atheism was the correct answer?
ook1231 2 years ago
whoa, whoa, i said 3rd year, meaning 2 years of basic in high school, modern physics, advanced E&M, optics, etc. I know that little is known about gravity, and i have learned (and beyond that i firmly believe) that there is much less randomness than there appears to be. So don't just assume i don't know things before you ask me about them.
Anyway to the point of the rejection of god, there is absolutely no conclusive evidence for a god's existence, and beyond that the christian idea of god...
webmaster2089 2 years ago
that i'm familiar with just makes no sense and is full of contradictions. therefore, (by occam's razor mostly) the best conclusion is to reject all that. basically what i mean is why should i believe? it's your idea so it's your job to convince me, not my job to convince myself otherwise, and nothing's been convincing.
and about the fundamental forces, your point has nothing to do with this discussion. why did you bring that up?
webmaster2089 2 years ago
occam's razor is not to reject but rather the simplest explaination is usually correct. i content that a god with a design in mind is much simpler than random events.
as for the christian idea of god i never said anything about that. although i did say i dont believe there is a perfect religion.
2 years of high school anything can be thrown out as trival, and only 5 semesters in college you are just barely breaking the surface.
i could care less if you believe or not in god.
ook1231 2 years ago
but give a reason or arguement, i dont have time or the desire to argue with someone with enough knowledge to think you are smart but not enough to understand how much you dont understand. hopefully you will learn that by the time you graduate, it is an important lesson.
ook1231 2 years ago
as for the fundemental forces a physics major should understand the importance of that if anyone is going to. come on the obviousness of that is to ridiculous to explain.
ook1231 2 years ago
doesn't seem like you could care less, you know, with all the comments
and of course i'm not saying i know everything there is to know about physics, or even much at all, but still more than the average person.
anyway, occam's razor. take this for example. either 1) god has existed forever and created the universe, or 2) the universe has existed forever. 2 is much simpler. basically whenever you cut god out of the equation things get easier, so occam's razor eliminates all that
webmaster2089 2 years ago
yes, i know the importance of the fundamental forces, they hold everything together, etc, etc. but when did this become a physics discussion? you just brought that up for no reason.
why do you keep insisting i don't know things when clearly i do know them. I don't know everything but i don't have to. I know enough to argue effectively.
speaking of which i have yet to see an actual argument from you, just insistence that you're right. so if you'd care to make one go ahead.

Give god credit? For what?
