Yes, it is actually. It's been retired to the rack, however, due to persistent jamming issues. They aren't worth much, but it does have some sentimental value to me. I've since picked up a Ruger 10/22.
Oh man, we had this thing down to it's bare bones... cleaned it up as clean as you can get. Still has issues jamming, though. I asked around at a local gun store, and the guy basically said Marlins will do that over time (it's over 30 years old), and that it's not worth the price of fixing them.
Oh I hear ya on that one. I love the Ruger 10/22, just wish I could take it out shooting more often (college gets in the way...)
I do, however, plan on getting some nice parts for the gun in the not-so-distant future. You can have a lot of fun w/ a 10/22, that's for sure. (Plus it's cheap to shoot!)
ive shot a 30-06 call. Mosin Nagont (i probably misspelled that) but never a M1 Grand.... how well the the M1 Grand shot becuz im thinkin of buying one but if the Mosin Nagont shot better im not ganna bother?
mosin nagant has more recoil since all of the powder is behind the bullet and leaving the barrel. the garand not so much. i prefer to shoot the garand. its 8 round semi auto. They are both acurate guns up to 800-1000 yards. if your good. the ammo for the garand is a little more expensive however. my mosin nagant ammo is not as expensive so i can buy 3,000 rounds at a time but this lasts me a while. i also have a dragunov which is the same caliber. in my opinion get a garand
The 30-06 of the M1 Garand IS more expensive, however, it does run very smoothly through the Garand.
Another concern is the cost of the guns themselves. Most mosins go for very cheap... my cousin just got one for $100 at a local fleet store. The Garand is significantly more expensive, often times approaching $1000 or more...
I've shot both guns, and personally, nothing compares to a Garand. Very special gun.
ya i have 2 mosin nagants, and ive been offered a Garand for $570 and i thought that was cheap for one but i didnt kno if i should waste my money on it
but its in bad condition!!.. i'd much prefer spending a little extra for a newer one then an older more worn down one.. of course unless it was an actual one from WWII then i'd definently buy the worn down one
Well, it does depend on the buyer, but to have a nice worn down Garand is never a bad thing. As long as your barrel looks smooth as glass on the inside, that is usually a good sign. A beat up stock is not always something to shy away from.
The Garand I got came with a brand-new stock, but the reciever is from Jan of 1944. I love knowing that it's possible it was in WWII.
quick question can u tell me where u get ur airsoft guns and around how much they cost and r u happy with all of them and i cant dicide which 1 to get all of urs look like there so good
Nice guns My dad is a detective and back when he was a patrolmen his station got about 8 M1 carbines and he was given one. He likes it because its what his dad used in WW2
Cool story, things like that don't happen very often, so your dad was a lucky man.
I was pretty lucky when we found my Garand... it went for $500, plus the receiver is from January of 1944... The stock is brand-new, but that's fine by me since it is not a wall mount, it's still a shooter : ) Most Garands today go for $1000 +
But to get back to your comment, the M1 Carbine is a really really nice weapon. Very comfortable to shoot, very smooth.
The Tarus is acutally my fiance's gun.... however, I do think it is well worth the money. If you stick a pair of those nice rubber hand grips on it, it handles really really nice. Very comfortable shooter.
i couldnt find your reply so i a replying here, i am sorry to have offended you and i would like you to know i have a full understanding of the word racism, i asked you my question because i wasnt sure if you were, and you raise a good point on noticing skin colors, sure i notice them but i do not judge people by it, but you can never really be sure who is or isnt which is why i asked, plus as n australian i asked also to get a better view on americans political views, sorry once again mate.
It's funny, he wants to disarm the good people in this country, yet, I'd like to see him go up to street gangs and tell them to hand over their guns. He won't though, because he would be shot way before they even think about handing them over.
Disarming America is not something you can just go out and do. He will regret trying to do it if he does attempt to.
if you knew your amendments you whould know that much has been added on since the first copy and they have added on saying you can own ammuniton too as long if its not incenerary which is still avilble now
Hey i have a m1 garand well it is really my dads cuz he bought it for about $400 with new parts from his friend. now only if the gun stores around here sold .30 rounds. cuz we have only a box of rounds and i love shooting it down at the range.
Not to mention .30-06 rounds are not cheap if you buy the hunting ammo type. I personally purchase the surplus ammo, as it's a bit cheaper, but also a little tougher to get your hands on.
What's really sad, is that since Obama is in, the tax increase on ammo and firearms is going to hurt bad (I've heard he wants a %500 tax increase). Shooting is going from an expensive sport to a ridiculously expensive, more-so rich man's sport. Very very disheartening.
my grandpa had his M1 and another .30-06 rifle and he was fortunate enough to invest in a loader and he has all the stuff so he wont need to worry about Obama's increase for a while he has the lead bricks and copper to smelt for bullets, casings, primers and powder, but he sold both so im gonna try to buy an M1 Garand or a 1903 Springfield
Your grandpa is a wise man... I would have done the same if I could have afforded it. Being in college, and seeing obama get in there made me sick... When he is out, I hope prices come back down.
The only real racist, is the one who brings up race. Where did I mention race ANYWHERE in my post? YOU are the one who sees the color of skin, not me.
Obama is NOT a good option for president, and it has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. You should be ashamed for even brining that topic up. Classic liberal argument.
If anything really makes me sick, it's people not knowing what 'racist' really means. You need to stop using that word if you don't know its meaning.
.22 cal the bullet that claims more lives than any other round each year. Mainly cuz ppl take it lightly since they don't realize how dangerous even a small round can be.
Not to mention, .22 ammo is the cheapest stuff out there. So it's easy to have a lot of it.
Hehe, I know... but it's so much fun! Amazingly, the .22 bullet is the most deadly bullet each year in this country. More gun-shot deaths occur from .22s than any other gun... probably because people assume they are just little pea-shooters.
Haha, man, I would LOVE to sell that pistol for a real BAR.
However, the real-steel version I want (1918A3) is over $3,000... I will purchase that gun once I graduate college and get my engineering career going... until then, it's only a dream.
The pistol is worth around $600- $700. So, it's a bit off lol
sounds like my dad except the college part lol.nice guns.same with my dad except his m1 has matching parts.cant believe it.folding stock carbine and my .22 we also have a springfield armory 1911 and a 9mm
Mg-42? holy shite! (brings back a "Death Wish" scene to memory) think he brought enough firepower over!?
yeah, its unfortunate that ever since the end of Vietnam, troops can no longer legally bring back confiscated enemy weapons. I mean, they fight for us and we repay them by not allowing them to bring back an AK? Now if a veteran is diagnosed with PTSD and seek VA benefits, they can no longer buy firearms! gun laws are getting crazy...
nice collection. my grandma has two surplus circa 1940's weapons. an M1-Garand and 1903 Springfeild (she also had an m1 Carbine but she gave it to my uncle.)
now I'm just waiting to inherit those 2! right now I own a mini-14 and my dad has an m-16, very nice weapons. along with some black powder flintlock rifle and percussion cap pistols. 2nd amendment is awesome.

There's a way to fix that, In my manual it shows a diagram on how to take the receiver apart when it starts jamming to clean it

Oh man, we had this thing down to it's bare bones... cleaned it up as clean as you can get. Still has issues jamming, though. I asked around at a local gun store, and the guy basically said Marlins will do that over time (it's over 30 years old), and that it's not worth the price of fixing them.
bubba85715 2 years ago
ha! for the price of fixing one you could buy a brand new one, my 795 cost me 99 bucks brand new!
10/22s are gorgeous as well, and they have every part known to man available from hundreds of different manufacturers.

hey great vids i love ur guns
btw its pronounced carbean, not carbine
doesnt realy mater, just pointin that out
spysoflondon 2 years ago
Thanks for the comment.
I get into that a lot w/ friends of mine too... some pronounce it as 'carbean' while some say 'carbine'...
I say carbine, because it sounds stronger. It's fitting to be the name of a gun.
Also, I think about other words like "turBINE" that word is never pronounced as 'turBEAN"... that's why I say it the way I do.
I do see your side though.
