so how good are the ttxs how do they compare to the str8 150s i want to start learning but dont want to buy cheap decks and then have to buy good ones id rather start with one good one.. technics are way too expensive right now
@winnernoloser ... I got scratch tutorials on my page but i still have to make some videos on the basics which are the most important things in scratching. Starting depends if you want to be a tablist, a mix DJ, or both. But I would start in mixing/blending music like house or club music which is how I started. Less lyrics = easier to mix/blend. I started mixing old chicago ghetto house back in the mid-late 90's. Scratching is just one part of the world of djing. The funnest part tho.
Im really jealous because i've been DJing for 7 years and only been scratching on and off for almost 4 years. For you to put the time and effort into your cuts, the results are pretty damn amazing. I would put 6 hours a day to get mixing down to a science but man you are good. Scratching to some mellow beats like this Common track would put me in the zone. Mad respect.
Thanks man. I think the art of mixing is just as hard as the art of tablisim. I mix aswell, but don't spend the same amount of time on it as I do scratching which I'd like to change.
When it comes to mixing, I think the blending isn't to hard, the hard part is more on the art of what to blend and when to blend it. That's what we spend hours in the room for. Just like scratching, it's the creativity part that really takes effort. Keep at the scratching, it get better over time no matter what
I mix as well. I have a video on here if you go to my profile to see how I get down. Based on the beat you are cutting to, we probably spin the same genre. Peep it.
lol, yea thats me. Thanks for the sic deal. These tables are dope. I'm never goin back to techs. The 50% pitch lets me play around with all sorts of records.
Hit up craigslist, I'm lookin for a ttx usb as a 3rd table also. Anyways, thanks for the tables and the sic price. No problems with them at all. Hope you find a pair soon.
Wow you will really never go back to techs. I have one of the tt-200, the bottom end of the Numark direct drive and it doesn't suck but nothing about it says even the pitch would make it better than a tech. I have the vestax pdx-2300's. I think the features are close to yours, not usb though. I might check them out. Your endorsment sells.I have been skratching for 7.5 yrs and you tear me apart after 7 months. If I hadn't already seen your tutorials I would prob. sell my tables and quit.
lol, thanks. Actually, I changed my style a bit and posted 2 new vids not too long ago. I put in about 3 hours a day. I just get zoned out. I've been scratching for 7 months, but I used to mix a little house and hip hop back in the day 6 years ago, then I jumped out the game and just jumped back in recently, so I started scrathing with the advantage of already having record control, plus I used to play drums which helps with rhythem. I'll be posting another vid scrathing to drum and bass
Good for you mate but I still think 7 months to achieve that is bollocks and 3 hours a day come-on but anyway your really good and lets leave at that.
Check out my 2 newsest scratch vid. let me know what you think.
Mine a hardly used. U can find the TTX's for cheap on craigslist around here in chicago. Right now there are 4 listings for under $200 a table. Check ur area for some.
Just make sure you check them out thoroughly. Light checking the target light against the platter 2 make sure its according to the pitch and still on zero. And scratch with it alot to make sure the motor is okay. Make sure you get atleast the straight arm.
your tearin it up 4 7 months worth of practise b cutsz sound crisp i woz wondering whether you could hook up a video soley using the autobahn i cant get that scratch 4 shit man if any 1 here can explain that b much appreciated. Peace!
I got my pair barley used for $400 total on craigslist and it came with oddessy cases, headshells, needles, mats, and the tonearms with the tools.
I used to be a loyal 1200 fan, but was sic of the low pitch range and the PDX2000s imo felt unstable when I drag the record. But the TTXs felt rock solid like 1200s which was a major plus. All I wanted were tables with a wide pitch control and a solid feel like 1200s and I got that and alot more with the TTXs. They're definatly sic tables
Ah man thats the same thing I'm going through. The wide pitch range is the main thing I need it for as well but just wasn't sure if the pull was as good as the 1200s. Thanks a lot man definitely helped me out.
And 400 for the PAIR and all that? They still look like they're in good condition, looks and working wise. Lucky purchase. Any chance you gonna sell them lol? J/k. But thanks again. Nice mixing too of course.
For everyone who hasn't figured it out yet... I've been visiting this video on and off for the past year or so, so I thought everyone should know...
It's "Common feat. Lauryn Hill - Retrospect for Life"
Thumbs up!

So I'm thinking of getting these (Numark TTX)s but I'm not sure. I've heard that the torque (pull) is better on the Technics 1200.
What do you think, is it a good turntable? And was it worth the 400 (or so) you payed for?
