What is this thing? just because cung le tells me its good doesnt mean i belive him because they are paying him to say it. i dont think this is better than actually going to the gym.there is a lot of exercises that you cant do with this and besides it doesnt look like it haves enough weigth.
@1024joaquin : i can honestly tell you (well it's just my opinion) it does work the way they advertise it..i had a bowflex & they lie in their infomercial they show a guy benching 225 & then ask him 2 do that on the bowflex & he's struggling well that's a lie what ever u lift with free weights u can lift twice as much on the bowflex . now the TG there's some that come with a weight attachment bar so u can add up to 80lbs extra & it does work as advertise u feel stronger, & energize after.
To respond to people saying the total gym is crap, the idea is great, sometimes the construction isn't so amazing. The pully on the board you lay on isn't secured very well on the ones i've seen, though I know they've changed and improved the design many times.
As far as it's actual practicality as a training tool I think the total gym works and it's on my list of tv marketed excercise equipment that isn't a sham. In the end, any piece of equipment that gives resistance to a muscle, works.
@hzuiel It also depends on which model you use. The lower end models are priced cheaply, and their build quality will reflect that. However, many people who call in to QVC seem to love even these machines. Perhaps they're not doing rigorous workouts. The higher end machines are very well made and durable...I've had mine for 13 years and it's still going strong. (I had to replace one wheel that cracked after several years of heavy use, but otherwise, it's all original hardware.) Great machine!!
I use the total gym with the p90x workouts instead of weights or bands. My total gym has an awesome 3 resistance band attachment making everything much harder.
it depends what u want with the total gym, i use it after my muay thai and mma workouts and it helps me alot to gain more power and stamina and real muscle burn, first i do power circle training and then i switch to the total gym of course one should know how to use it otherwise its a waste of time.
but simply to say its junk and a waste of time is ignorant.
I have had my total gym xli for like 7yrs now, its excellent....but all the videos i have seen, non have showed the dip workout......I use mine on the highest resistance while doing dips and that works my shoulders, triceps, forearms, chest and abdominals at the same time = if i crunch while performing, I work both the upper chest and abdominals...if i lay flat lower chest and obliques...not to mention increasing my strength and thats when im lazy. 300 every other day=3sets of 3= 50, 25,25x3=1set
I'm in my 50's, been working out in gyms from 24 years of age.. when I got my T-Gym "copycat ver" I thought it was so so till I used it every morning to loosen up my body and now I use it also to do somethings that are just more easy on it then in gym.. I have made more muscle mass, strength, flexibility and more.. shocking but if one does it right it does work out ... keeps one limber and strong and can build muscles and in a short time...
i have a total gym but i dont know what excersces im sopose to be doing and what i order i should do them in! i want to be cut and build muscle! help me please?!
You think the company sought out Cung Le specifically to pimp their product? NO, Cung used it in his gym and they found out and interviewed him about it.
no the company gave him those machines for free so ofcourse hes going to take them maybe train with it here or there just so the commercial would be more credible.. its like believing basket ball players eat mcdonalds before a game... training on a total gym would be a horrible waiste of time for ANY serious fighter.

Cung Le, you wrestled in high school didn't you? I remember that name even years later. But I was in a different weight class.
