Cool video interesting to see how small the shot pattern is at skeet ranges, you would expect them to be using a skeet choke too and expect maybe a 2 ft wide pattern.
I bet there are a lot of people would pay to have themselves filmed shooting in slow motion!
@Kevinwwings2 I've done it with a pellet rifle with a piece of lexan in front of the camera. I could probably do it with a mirror. It would be cool to try it.
Because you can get your fingers stuck in the pistons, and because the metal thing underneath (sorry for bad English) can snap you skin, and you hand can get stock in between.
Hey guys, I have been trying the same camera at Skeet, it don't seem to work as well on very bright, blue-sky days. A bright but cloudy, grey-white sky like yours does seem best.
Please check my channel sometime, I just uploaded a 600 FPS Skeet video with the blue-sky problem I mentioned, but, we think we caught a UFO up there, damned straight.
@999SilverDog I had some really unusual conditions, sort of in between storms so I had good sun at my back and the white clouds in the fore front. I usually manually adjust the shutterspeed which helps make bullets, etc show up better. I use a camera mount that simulates a rifle stock which helps to track the camera too. I'll check out your channel, always nice to find another F1-er out there.
@taofledermaus The rifle stock mount sounds an ace idea, it's near impossible to track clays on the LCD or internal viewfinder isn't it? Up to now, I just been getting occasional 'pot luck' maybe 2 in 10 times.
@longboarderscooter it's called a wad - it holds all the shot as it goes down the barrel. It's made of plastic, and some of them are in more than one piece, which you see in some of these clips. But basically it's a plastic cup for the shot.
@SlaveZero1234 Thanks Jeff! The sun came out briefly between storms so I intended to go to the rifle range but it was closed, so I ended up at the skeet range instead. I decided to experiment a little and try to track the skeet and got a few lucky shots. It was definitely a lot of fun and I didn't really know what I had until I reviewed it at home.
Awesome! It's interesting to see how the barrel is moved just slightly in front of the clay target's travel direction a split moment prior to the shot... the computing power of the brain is pretty darn good, thanks in big part to our binocular vision which allows us to have depth perception :P (lol sorry for the nerdiness)
@taofledermaus Haha! The reason I asked is because the barrel looked like one from a combat shotgun, which is kinda difficult to find for standard consumers.
Do try talk to those guys next time though. That way, you'd learn more about the minute details of the arms from the experienced and educated users... the "real" pros and cons. And then, you could totally do video reviews/comparisons of those guns :D
@k1awdttt I just walked up to these guys and asked if I could film them, so I didn't want to be too intrusive and distract them from their shooting. It was bad enough I running around trying to get weird angles with my cameras- I just went with the flow without giving direction to them, when they could shoot, stuff like that. I might catch them out there again and get more details from them, hopefully have more sunlight too.
@Ibexkid Thanks! It was my first time trying to film clays so it was difficult for me to track the clays and try to get the shooter and the clay in frame when the shot was taken. -mostly luck!
I have only done Skeet shooting once in my life, when I was 14 and getting my Core (Canadian Hunting Course). We got 5 shots with 5 different styles of shotguns and I got 4 out of 5 Skeet. Beginners luck I think? I am afraid to go back now and miss 5 out of 5 shots.
@mrbadx19 Thanks! I took a lot of shots with the camera and this is probably 10% of them, the rest were junk! I was pretty surprised with some of these clips, almost professional looking! lol
@ZBICK450 Thanks again for letting me film you guys. I tried to get each of you in there equally. I'm going to post the real-time footage today probably. Maybe I'll see you out there again when the lighting is better! Thanks again, I hope I didn't get in your way too much!
Totally dig the real time to slow mo shots. Its a nice effect. Should do them more often, gives them almost a movie quality feel to it. Keep up the great job !
@JQxSquared Even the parts that I sped up are about 1/4 of real time speed. I just posted a few real time shots I took of them shooting. I often speed up "boring" parts of my high speed footage otherwise the videos will be WAY too long. Thanks for the nice words.
Those guys are talented. I'd have a hard tome hitting one if it were moving in slow motion. I don't have much experience with shotguns. Besides pistols, I'm a bolt action/semi-auto rifle guy.
@ChairmanLao1911 Thanks! I was supposed to sleep instead of go out and film but the sun came out so I had to get some camera work in! Say hi to Aderonn~!
