A schutzhund dog will not bite unless he is told to bite, and he will release when he is told to release. True, "pit bulls" were never bred to be guard dogs, but they are very smart and eager to please, so they adapt well to the role. The real problem we need to address lies within pit bull fighting rings and abuse.
pami , get real !!! my pit has been through schtz tranining and bit work , the tranner fell in love with my dog so much he went and got one ! pit are great dog and strive to make ther owner so happy that they will do any thing for them . shame on you for talking bad about this breed , if ou think there not good protection dogs come try to mees with me or get in my house ( LUNCH !! )
I am in complete disagreement with training any pitbulls for agressive behavior. Any one who knows anything about this breed knows this is wrong! Pits were designed to be nanny dogs and family dogs quit trying to make them something they aren't your are helping promote the crazy agressive mentality that the fighters do. Let them be what they are.

This is a sport to train bite INHIBITION, as well as bite work!! The dogs are trained to only listen to what the owner wants. A well trained schtz pit, like mine, would be LESS likely to bite, as they have been extensively trained!
Why would you be training dogs like this - it is very worrying indeed to see this - we are world wide trying to rescue pit bulls that are so badly abused - and because of bad people who give these dogs a bad name it is a difficult job to save them - don't make the situation worse for these good mannered and wonderful dogs !
