Hi @Tmdkiller @SGemoCoolBoi, the white mask is part of the anti-flash gear that sailors wear to protect against short-duration flame and heat exposure. It's basic personal portective equipment issued to all ship crew. The fire-resistant hood is issued together with fire-resistant gloves. :)

They wear the white mask for face protection against fire. In case the ship explodes or catches on fire, their face can be protected.

Does the CIC only detects aircraft or does it detect both aircraft and surface vessels? I think the bridge would spot the vessel before the CIC does.

@SpecJack15 CIC detects both air and surface targets using different radars. the C2 operator assess the tracks base on their speed, course and tracking distance... we often sense our targets before we see them ;)

@cech01 Thanks, my elder brothers have trained on Navy frigates before and they say its quite tough to actually make it into Naval Weapons Systems Operator. 1 of them is a First Sergeant in RSAF and although he works on utility and transport helicopters like the S-70B Seahawk, he had to undergo a Navy course before going for detachment.

the white mask is call anti flash gear la.. all watch keeper will wear it during action station.. but the use of it is to wear with fire fighting suit so that it will protect ur skin from fire
