  • Best drum fills I've heard... ever...

  • finally, a great drummer playing without his shoes. Talk about "heels-up"

  • Benny Greb -> GODLIKE!

  • He have the beat in the blood!

  • I just love Sonor, SO FUCKIN' MUCH!!!

  • @ 1:30 my 2 year old son started nodding his head. YES!

  • and people tell me "omg Damon, why do you use meinl Byzance, no one uses those."................yeeeeah

  • @dtyson777 I know many people who use them (probably because I live in Germany), really really great cymbal series

  • After 1:30, oh my gosh... What a grooooove

  • right food..:shoe...left food....socks:D:D:D

  • Press 7 to let the grooving begin!

  • This is an old video. He's ten times the drummer now.

  • Phil Rudd owns this guys

  • @love4peace21 are u fucking stupid? phil is great drummer but he lacks the technicality and groove, and he has now resorted to doing the same beat over and over again except adding in more crashes and occasionaly switching the bass drum to the 2 count

  • wow as soon as it starts getting really good the video gets cut off

  • chid chid chid chid chid...

  • WHAT IS THAT KIT?!?!?!

  • @MonsterEatingBoy SONOR!

  • @kevinbothwell i know but what kind

  • @MonsterEatingBoy Sonor SQ2. With beech shells.

  • @PoeticJustice05

Can't be...The video is much older than their SQ2 line. Could be a Delite

  • @Schmeitzke

    Sonor Designer maple light imho

  • no shoes. they would only slow a monster like greb down musically.

  • he clearly has been practicing a long time...he sounds very colorful and he has control! he is superior to many drummers i've seen!

  • notice how he can play all these complicated beats and go so fast but never looks like it.

  • notice how he can play all these comlicated beats and go so fast buthe never looks like it.

  • lol this is definitely not simple and it's not slow either...

  • @gund3rt yeah i'm not sure what he's talking about lol...

  • i want this drummer in my band

  • my favourite drummer easily

  • I'm sorry is that sticks in his hands?!

  • oooh yessss

  • thats what too much red bull does to you

  • benny is a pure music for my ears I like too much that ... benny keep doing the true music inspiration and keep groovong ....it's the best way that you can show to world what's music thankx

  • He definitely makes me want to become a better musician.. Dayum.

  • the last grove was picked off a travis barker song thats radddddd =]

  • his style has changed loads since then

  • The way Benny plays he could make a basic rock beat into an eargasm. His dynamics and flow make him one of the best drummers to listen to. He is so good.

  • One of THE BEST drummers of our time!

  • this guy kicks a55 so deep, ye can feel it up yer spine! ;d

  • Socks FTW!! :D

  • it's cool to see him rip like that; his playing is usually more reserved.

  • yeah I guess you're right...and Lang is a little more into the stick tricks...but if you watch Thomas Lang's DVD they both do a lot of the same multi-pedal coordination and similar licks with the multiple pairs of hi-hats. I guess Greb is sorta like a jazzy Thomas Lang....but some of the technical stuff Lang does on his DVD is unreal...he can do everything with his feet that he can do with his hands and can play a different time sig with each limb like Bozzio.

  • I'd like to see him and Thomas Lang go head 2 head. Their styles are almost indentical.

  • @TheCrackaasscracka In sorry but i think their very different, greb has got way moor groove and lang is more technical...i prefer greb!

  • his very very very very good.....

  • I don't about you guys, but my favorite part starts at 1:30. Groove:)

  • At 0:50 he starts some sort of pattern where he keeps alternating between the feet and hand F-H-F-H-F-H-F-H and I was curious about the sticking. Does he simply make single strokes with the feet and hand, being both displaced by a 16th note?

  • Usually that lick is played RH LF LH RF.

  • at 1:26 as hes hitting the cymbals over and over again, his left hand spins the stick betweeen hits, it was amazing :)

  • That was the the most amazing part of what you just saw?

  • I just pooped my pants :D

  • the best basser no mentiras jaja un buen drumm

  • damned good drummer ...

  • i got to hug this guy when he came to kansas city

  • honestly why are people talking about travis barker on a real drummer and musicians page??

  • because they are half of your age

  • @sonortony35 I AGREE! Benny is more than a drummer he is a true musician!

  • @sonortony35 he's good at catching fire.

  • @sonortony35 travis barker is great in his own right, I dont like when ppl bash him. he has definitive style and technically he is quite good. but lets be real benny is a poet on the drums and in my opinion the best out there :)

  • @ibreathedrums true about benny greb, wrong about travis shitpile xD

  • beaucoup de gens le critiquent... regardez les vidéos ou il groove, la ok ca fait un peu déballage technique, mais c'est impossible de le juger la dessus... c'est un grand, rien a dire la dessus...

  • I love It

  • Tons of energy and he makes it feel organic, rather than just a "skillz" wankfest. He's a musican first and a drummer second, imho.

Look at how he makes a simple groove fun to listen to...

I have no problem admitting I'm jealous of him :)

  • agreed.

  • i didn't hear one simple groove in there honestly! haha. that laid back groove at the end with all those perfectly felt out ghost notes... takes a good amount of skill to pop those in there so effortlessly.

  • ya ok like i love peart and i am like a die hard rush fan with geddy and most ofmy drummin style is influenced by peart but this dude is tight and like my new fav drummer haha

  • richtig geil mach weiter so...:D

  • Benny pisses me off on how hes just flawless on the kit, from the time the 1st lick is struck to the last

  • Drummers, dont pass this group up. I have recently began a group titled the Drummers Coalition Against Travis Barker and other equally overrated drummers. Besided the obvious purpose, members are encouraged to post videos of themselves and topics of their interest. To join just go to my profile, select groups, and join. Invite fellow drummers. Expose yourself to the drumming world.

  • haha. theres always one person who has to voice their worthless opinion. i dont give a damn if you think its dumb. even if it is, you telling me this doesnt end the group. that was a complete waste of time.

  • Even funnier was you took time to respond.

I'm sure your group will accomplish a lot.

  • i never understood why there was such hate towards Travis Barker (and other similar mainstream music drummers). ok, if it's not his style you're interested, that's understandable. but obviously, many people enjoy his drumming style. fact is, tons of people have started playing and enjoying drumming because of drummers like him, and hopefully some of them will delve deeper into the world of drumming because of it.

everyone likes to drum differently and enjoy different styles of music, period.

  • dude i dont hate him or think hes bad as a person or drummer whatsoever. i think people have a serious misconception about his playing ability and lack the necessary skills to understand his true level of skill in comparison to a genuinely good drummer.

  • drummers dont want to be mainstream

they are only made mainstream by their popularity

so people who hate on mainstream drummers

    specially like travis

    who is good

are really just trying to show that theyre better because they like drummers who arent mainstream

    which makes them very ignorant

unless its a really shitty drummer like good charlotte

  • true, he can be incredibly entertaining, but when people say he is a GOOD drummer, we get all defensive, because he has bad form and is truthfully nothing amazing

  • thank god someone intelligent finally agrees with me....it makes me sick to hear some things people say about barker.....ok hes no benny greb but he makes great music....im sick of people hating on him

  • Yeah i think it is good that he made drumming more mainstream, but he made drumming look more like an immage that an art. Plus I think people hate him because of his over-inflated ego.

  • drumming has ALWAYS had an image associated with it. i don't think travis barker single handedly made people think drumming was cool. and i've also heard that travis is one of the nicest guys / celebs to meet. i've met him once when he drummed for The Aquabats WAYYY back in the day, and he was very down to earth and took a bunch of pictures with my buds and i. say all the reasons in the world to dislike travis, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a solid drummer.

  • @THEpearldrummer Nope. I like Travis Barker

  • @THEpearldrummer you're such an asshole for using travis as device to for your cause. i know for a fact there are tons of drummers better than travis but that doesn't him suck cause in actual fact he's probably better than any fags in your drum group.

moreover its not his fault he's overrated because of blink there are thousands of kids that hail his name but aren't really that into drumming is that hard for you to understand? for you to pull out so many stops against a great muso, i thnk u suk

  • @THEpearldrummer Your pathetic. Hes overated because hes famous and successful and i agree that yes he is overated, but i bet he is rich and more successful than you are, ive watched some of your videos and you are in no place to comment with your drumming skills!

  • @mopedman1 isnt it a shame that i dont even have any vids up of me playing?

  • @THEpearldrummer you used to, of you breaking a cymbal and some covers, you little prick. i bet your some 12 year old who thinks your better than everyone.

  • what a musician. Benny inspires me to practice harder. ; ) thanks Benny!

  • ya same here...incredible energy...

  • oh man this is tight.

  • wow... thats amazing, i really like your meinl

  • how old is benny (now)?

  • He is 29 years old.

  • god hes so good

  • how tall is benny???

  • do you really think it matters?

  • not taller than 1.80m

  • Wow... great!!!what microphones does it use for toms and snare??? beyerdinamic???

  • one of my fav "young" drummers

  • true drummers play with their shoes off :P

  • agreed....

  • I beg to differ, jo jo Mayer - all stars... lol

  • this has so many "oh fuck", moments in it.

    *cries*

  • Benny Greb is one of my favourites but I must say that I'm dissapointed by this drum solo. Double bass with crash accents !? This is not creative and so not Benny style...

  • like in the montreal solo, hey plays the same double bass part

  • It looks flashy so who cares?

  • my favourite drummer ever... its all about groove not about speed. this simple beats groovin like hell

  • Well fucken put!!

  • Comment removed

  • @emmerton Dude, this guy has got the best of both worlds... :D Super fast, super amazing player...

  • @emmerton VERY TRUE, but his speed is also incredible too!

    master.

  • @emmerton simple beats???man u gotta be kidding

  • @emmerton I agree with you, but you almost make it sound like he's playing something simple. Which he is not.

  • @emmerton he got speed too ... he got everything !!! amazing drummer ... my favorite as well

  • but heres the thing... this is a solo showcasing musicality and ability...

when playing to a song joey is bieng a true musician in the sense that he is playing a durm part rellevant to the music... and for the majority of the time its just very simple yet fast and powerfull parts... nothing extrodinarily technical aside from speed but its whats musically proper...

but benny and jojo mayer make thesee grooves just seeping with chops that fit thier music. and thats thier real special ability

  • Nice!!

  • nobody beats benny when it comes to technique, and sometimes he plays somewhat simple beats if you watch other videos but he has such a presence behind the kit that if you heard him on CD you could definitely tell its benny greb, joey jordison is just like every other metal drummer, in other words just going mad behind the kit with his hi-hat constantly open and double basing everything. maybe we should see he would work better in a jazz band because that's were technique is really shown.

  • i agree with you on the open hi hats.

  • 1:49 best bit =P

  • His groove is just soo damn good!

  • agreed

  • after 1:32 its the best part

  • can't stop watching this!

  • benny greb kicks joey's arse man. Joey's just another metal drummer, greb has mastered latin drumming man, he's awesome!

  • Seriously, why on every good drumming video is there always some kid that says "joeys better" his name doesn't even deserved to be mentioned on this. Yes, I admit it he's good but he needs to learn a different style than just fast double bass...

  • personally, i think benny greb is far, far better than joey jordison, (i used to like him at one time, i grew out of it though, we all will) his technique and groove is great.

i respect jordison for his double bass speed but benny greb is a pretty mean double bass player as well and he can use it in a groove as well.

also i think jordison hasn't even heard of ghots notes, or a closed hi-hat.

  • yes...Agreed

  • I can't believe Joey Jordisons name was even brought into this.. They have and play two completely different drumming styles. They shouldn't be compared. Overall, I say Benny beats him on technique alone.

  • what am i talking about!?!?

BENNY rocks soo much.. i think things like creativity combined with excellent technique and musicality he's one of the best in the world! definitely

  • i couldnt have said it better than callme1abeast

  • the part starting at 1:32 is the best!

  • My opinion: You should not compare or judge drummers if you are not at the same or a higher skill level...

  • You know I hate the fact that all these kids are comparing phenomenal drummers like Benny Greb to Travis Barker. It really is like comparing a Z06 to an H1, both are awesome and have different strengths, but you cant really compare the two.

Barker is an EXCELLENT drummer and I am a huge Blink 182 fan. It is undeniable that he has a very unique, complex style, but even mentioning him on a page like this is absurd.

And comparing his solos or skills to that of Benny Greb is even more absurd.

  • benny is like a bugatti veyron though

  • i totaly agree with u cfair88. I am a drummer by myself and what benny greb does ist just amazing. But he's not the best because there is no best Drummer! When u get on that "upper level" in drumming u just develop your own Style of drumming thats what makes the diffrence between all the good drummers . When u play an instrument u tranfer your thaughts at the instrument but everyone has a different way of thinking so i guess thats the reasen why there is no best drummer

  • Why in the HELL are Joey and Travis even mentioned on this page?

  • omg cfair are u crazy?

Benny is way ABOVE drummers like Travis or Joey .. OMG .. WAY ABOVE! realize this man!

  • What you say is based on opinion, and opinion only. No matter what you say, I've seen more technical, faster and more advanced drummers. Not to say Greb isn't amazing, cause thats obviously not the case. But comparing Greb to Joey is like comparing apples to oranges. You just cant do it unless one of them starts playing the others style of music. =)

  • but i am pretty sure, that Greb could play the same like Joey more exactly, dont u think?

  • Yea maybe. But Greb has pretty much mastered his style of playing and Joey has done well playing metal. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Joey Jordison but all I can say is they are both great and well accomplished drummers. I don't really like to compare, just enjoy the music. ;)

  • Fuck hes good!! My only guess as to why is he must have played quint drums in a core for a while.

  • joey and travis are no were near benny in skill, technique or even speed

  • anyone know wat the finish is on this kit ?

  • not too sure but by the looks of it...it could be a natural satin oil finish .. ???

  • 1:45 blows my mind.... WOW.

  • this man is my god

  • its sad that are future children will not hear great drummers like this they'll hear joey jordison and travis barker and think they are the gods of drumming damn mtv

  • this guy is good..

    obviously..

but the thing travis barker and joey have that this guy doesnt is a band that actually plays music..

if they search a bit theyll find benny

and travis was one of the 25 drum gods so i dont know what youre talking about

  • just because he is part of the 25 drum gods doesnt make him good

    cuz frankly he sux

he just hits drums really hard

he probably goes through a few new cymbals every week

  • Are you talking about benny?

Haha, you think Greb sucks? bahahaha.

  • no im talkin about travis barker

  • thats pretty much the most igorant thing i've heard said about benny greb.... ever.

  • Jerobeam. look em up, noob.

    They make amazing music.

  • no im talking about travis barker

benny greb is my favorite drummer

  • benny greb is sooooo much above travis and joey, and he does have a band

except that he doesnt play what everyone else play. he has an incredible technique.

drums are not about beig fast.

its about being precis and creative.

which he is but travs n joey arent.

  • you are absolutely right!

benny greb is way over them.

  • Amen.

  • Yep. Travis and Joey make noise. Benny makes music.

  • this guy has tight griive its amazing

  • He uses his trash hat around 25/40 seconds for starters, plenty of other times too

  • Probably my favourite drummer :) He`s got a great mix of technique and taste, very creative, love his playin` ;]

  • I could listien to him all day, he's great

  • all day and night! LOL

  • ..... wow.......

  • is he using his 12"/14" trashhat in this clip?
