"You're my first cup of coffee, my last cup of tea." This reminds me of the 1950 Ford we bought for$10.00. That's right ten dollars. Four of us chipped in, and we kept it in my parents driveway. When no one was home we would take it out for a spin. One night the tranny went on us, so we picked up a tranny from a 52 Ford. Same tranny bot the mounting holes didn't line up so we tierd it in place with a rope. We sold it for $50. to a friend of ours (Corky). He never complained.
This is the very young Wilson Pickett from Pratt Alabama singing lead here. This was recorded in Detroit as the Falcons, but Wilson was straight out of the gospel group, dig the guitar feed back at the end...
Sorry James, but leading the song is a young Joe Stubbs(brother to Levi Stubbs-deceased- of the Four Tops). This song reached #17 on the Pop Chart in 1959.
You're correct. Joe Stubbs was with the Falcons from 1957 to 1960, and You're So Fine was recorded in 1959. Wilson Pickett was with the band from 1960 to 1963.
the first time I heard this song, I was climbing a hill into the small So. Cal town where my parents lived when I was in college. I was driving my six cylinder, pale yellow '66 mustang-one year older than I- and passing everybody. that was such a thrill. too bad I ended up losing that car. I drove it too hard and Dad couldn't afford the repairs. This has been a favorite song ever since, but now I think of my dh instead of my car!
1959 Ford Falcon I had that car " Back in the Day!"
It was So Fine!!
My Car was the Red & White Convertible!!!
Can't remember the price back then!
But I wore the same shoes all year saving for this car- LOL
I think it was 1967 when I got the car! Right after High School! In 1966,!

Thank you! You are so correct. I forgot about One Fine Day. You're at the top of your game and I'd like you on my trivia team!

This was the best of the "fine" records. Remember when we had:
You're So fine - Falcons
So Fine - Fiestas
He's So Fine - Chiffons
Such great great music!
