@youwinoneinternets No, you're a retard for liking second rate shit like the Cure. And Bernard Sumner from JD/NO accused the cure of ripping them off, many times, in the press. Especially for the song Inbetween Days, which was a ripoff of NO's Dreams Never End.
LOL at stupid cure fans, robert smith is a fat whiny 60 year old wearing lipstick and looking like a twat...
@youwinoneinternets Sorry but The Cure copied JD/NO early on - the early 80s gloom trilogy after JD. The Walk after Blue Monday. I quite like The Cure and I don't normally care if an artist appears to be overtly influenced by someone else, but in order to get things strsight
@analogblue I read an interview with Bernard where he said the Cure was great and how they gave NO a gig when no one else would. Apparently Bernard is a "stupid Cure" fan, like most of the people who listen to NO are.

No, this is NOT "Mesh." And I really, really doubt that New Order, working in its little Manchester bubble, was so aware of what The Cure were doing that they would rip off "A Forest" to make this. Both are excellent vibes. Now, you want a REAL ripoff, an acknowledged ripoff, that's The Cure's "In Between Days." That\s Robert Smith taking the standard New Order sound of 1985 and saying, pffft, we can do this better. And they did.
No way, New Order's song is in no way a ripoff. Cries and Whispers is more uptempo than The Cure's A Forest which is darker and more brooding. Totally different vibe!
@aperturesandfstops A Forest is a piece of crap, can't believe how much praise that song gets. Brooding, it's just self-indulgent rubbish. And I do quuite like The Cure. This track on the other hand is genuinely creepy and edgy.
mesh and cries and whispers are b-sides to the a side of everythings gone green this is mesh this music is the best of the very best like messi with a football thats not an opinion its a fact
@TENSE2000 They accidentally flipped the song names. This song is actually Cries and Whispers while the one that is just about 3 minutes is actually Mesh. They've also continued to mislabel these songs on subsequent re-releases as well!
@venusprojection Why in the world would they do that? So I've been listening to 'Cries and Whispers' for years and years thinking it was 'Mesh' on Substance? That is odd. Good ol' mysterious New Order.
@TENSE2000 Yeah I know it's weird. If you wanna hear the REAL Mesh check out the 1981-1982 EP or the 2nd disc on the remastered Movement CD. On the EP it's correctly titled Mesh but on Movement it's called Cries and Whispers. x_x
It's always been Cries& Whispers to me. I like this more than EGG + can't understand why they didn't play this at gigs more often cos it's so good . Anyway it's a great song and maybe C&W will turn up on a tv advert for chocolate or cars one day.
anyone got video of cries and whispers live they played it back on the movement tour 1980-1981 they only played it a few times it was not apart of the setlist on every gig on the tour just certain places realy like to see it live
"Cries and Whispers" is incorrectly labelled as "Mesh" on all versions, and only on the cassette version does the original "Mesh" actually appear, itself mistitled as "Cries and Whispers" (to add to the confusion, the iTunes Store release, based from the CD version, labels the "Cries and Whispers" as "Mesh (Cries and Whispers)").
I'd give ANYTHING to be back in the late 70's early 80's again, the days when music had substance :)
