Absolutely fabulous! She is so skillful in using a modern piano to emulate the sound of the old fortepiano, creating a dry sound that is totally in keeping , using as little pedal as possible.
I remember that 50 years ago Clara Haskil would play in our provincial town ( Groningen, NL ). . I´m not sure I was aware of that special treat. Le tout Groningue dressed in their best , truly enjoying good music. Another regular was Eduardo del Pueyo, somehow he is hard to find on YT.
I am idolate of Clara Haskil since i heard her for the first time in life in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This audio is very good but the audio with Pierre Monteux is still better. His tempo is a little slower and the orchestral part is superb
Despite the crude recording Monteux' incredible knack for balance and transparency shines through - this clarity in brass and woodwinds was are back then! And what a performance it is, what a shame Haskil died before stereo truly caught on.
The first Mozart piano concerto I ever heard from Clara Haskil. Nobody played it better than she did. I will listen to it till my death (and who knows after it)
A very enjoyable performance of my favourite Mozart Concerto. Some evidence of competition between conductor and soloist as to tempo!! Still makes my day though..... ;)

Monteux's contribution with the orchestra should not be underestimated. The claims of transparency made on his behalf are quite justified.
